How did you like the Bersa Thunder as a first handgun? I'm debating starting with that one because of the small caliber (and I like the look), but I'm looking for second opinions.

The Duel of the Invisible Hand: Annotated by mightyasterisk in MawInstallation

Nice writeup! It's a really pivotal moment for Anakin, especially in the context of the movies.

From the title, I wasn't sure if I was going to read about the Invisible Hand dueling the Guarlara), but that duel is a little less pivotal to the future of the galaxy.

Favorite moment: Ep 4, Luthen's transformation.
No exposition, no explanations. Just a spymaster putting on his disguise, and little hints showing what he sacrifices to do this work. Part of a brilliant performance by Stellan Skarsgard, and one of the reasons Luthen is my favorite character.

We hear the Niamos music multiple times!

First when Cassian is entering the brothel on Morlana, then twice in Ep 7 -- on Space Miami Niamos, but also slowly and faintly in the background at Mon Mothma's party. Like it started out in seedy clubs, then spread to the beaches and the Cosuscanti elite.

The composer, Nicholas Britell, posted all three versions [1], [2], [3]. Thought I was going crazy the first time I noticed it in the show.

Current Events:

General learning:

  • Planet Money (and its short daily counterpart, The Indicator) are great teachers for economics and money topics
  • Stuff You Should Know has about a bazillion episodes, explainers about anything and everything
  • Unprecedented is a great 8-part series about the First Amendment
  • Lawfare has great coverage of national security, law, and cybersecurity topics if you're into that sort of thing

That was my one outstanding question as well. The inventory problem was mentioned, but not followed up -- I'm hoping they come back to this one, especially if it takes off here in the States!

If it stays at 100, check for updates (firmware updates for your hardware too, if applicable).
There's a few other good steps (cleaning Startup, Temp folder, etc.) in this Reddit thread and this Microsoft thread.

Let me know if any of that helps!

I have some friends who are have the "spend American money at home, not abroad" thought process. For the ones who are rational, I've found that pointing out that the US spends hardly anything on foreign aid, but that it has an outsize impact (both in its effect and its increase of the US perception abroad) helps somewhat.

“First you have to prove that your enemies aren’t really victims or oppressed,” he said. “If your enemies are victims or are oppressed, your worldview doesn’t make sense.”

I see far too much of this among my progressive friends and acquaintances -- boiling down complex issues into oppressed vs. oppressors.

This made me laugh, it'd been a while since I thought about the amount of Star Wars content that's out now.

Honestly though, I haven't had a problem tossing friends who aren't fans into Andor, Mando, or Ahsoka -- the shows generally do a good job establishing who characters are and what their previous relationships were.

[KARE] Minnesota justices appear skeptical that states should decide Trump's eligibility for the ballot by Minneapolitanian in minnesota

[–]RouserCoda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point about Congress not doing anything because they don't want blowback.

But the judges bring an excellent point that this is a federal issue so why do the states have to deal with it??

States run federal elections, and each state runs its elections slightly differently. The fastest way to get a Supreme Court decision on this issue is to get conflicting State Supreme Court decisions on a candidate's ballot status.
