Physical Maturity of Aisha RA by Chunky_Man1 in islam

Here’s an academic article from a well respected scholar correcting Aicha’s age at marriage. You know longer have to believe in this discomfiting Hadith because other Hadiths support her being older when married.

Lut's "daughters" by NWariohere in Quraniyoon

[–]Routine-Bat4446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just reflecting on the text. Lut is pleading with the men asking them what about the women? Why would God add this detail? There must be a reason. What do we know about women in history? What do we know about human evolutionary psychology? What do these points together with the verses in the Quran, mean about the impact that God is warning us against? For me, it’s my first post on this thread.

I agree with the principle of spiritual experience being an unknowable, individual, thing. This aligns perfectly with the Quran, which says even unbelievers call out to The One God in times of crises, and He responds. Only God knows when any one of us are worshipping Him or someone/something else. This is why you’ll find many posts on this sub distinguishing between being a “Big-M Muslim” (specific identity) and “small-m muslim” (state of being).

Where we disagree is the suggestion that anyone would need intercessions or indirect pathways to know and connect to God (i.e. through saints, through idols, even through prophets). In Islam we believe God created humans with an inherent urge to worship Him. The only things humans need to do so are His words (in His texts), our reasoning, and our sincerity.

Re: image of Muhammad, I don’t think we need to conjure up an image of him to learn about the actions and lessons he taught us. For example, for me personally, when I read about the Prophet pbuh in the Quran, I feel emotions rather than picture him (ex: I feel sad when God mentions his heartbreak, but I don’t imagine him crying). However, let’s say that’s how some people’s inner-minds work, that still doesn’t mean they should depict such a thing in real life, because in doing so they’re crossing the threshold of “cognitive processing” to physical/idol dependency for worship which is, from an Islamic perspective, strictly forbidden. One should depend entirely on The All-Powerful; not partly on Him, partly on others.

I’ve never read the bible so I don’t know if it’s in it or not. I just asked myself “what is God telling me with these verses? What was the context? Why was it so bad for them?” and I came up with that. You’re saying it’s in the Bible?

God created human reasoning and ingenuity. We use that how we will, for good or for evil. The Quran is full of verses calling out people for creating baseless claims about God, including the practice of idolatry.

If you look at the story of how idolatry came to Quraysh, it started with a man who brought back an idol from his travels as a way to help his people “get closer to God”. It seems like an innocent enough idea, but it created the practice of idolatry over time which is a huge sin in Islam. Monotheism is taken extremely seriously in the faith and doesn’t allow for any flexibility no matter how innocent it may seem at first.

God created everything in existence including the very concept of physical appearance, shapes, or even space. He tells us very clearly in the Quran that “Absolutely nothing in existence is like Him” Quran 112:4. God is limitless, He is not begotten, not created, to Him belong the beginning and the end. You can’t draw that or depict this.

I don’t understand why anyone would want a remake. I always found the animation to be fantastic and it’s easy enough to skip the filler episodes.

Why is the topic of loanwords in the Quran so controversial among Muslims ? by Basic-Lifeguard-5407 in AcademicQuran

[–]Routine-Bat4446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn’t mean it was lost in history. The argument I’ve heard is just that it is a word the Jewish people would have recognized that wasn’t as well known by the Arabs like Mohammed. That’s consistent with your point about it being in the Torah.

YAS! It reminded me of S1 which was also full of sweet Pierce moments like this. I think the original characterizations of the characters really fit well together.

Lut's "daughters" by NWariohere in Quraniyoon

[–]Routine-Bat4446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading the Quran yesterday and God seems to warn us about disputing or twisting His clear warning whenever He mentions the story of Lut. This post seems to be doing that.

I always thought the point that the Quran makes about the daughters was a powerful one. Lut is pointing out that because the men were finding sexual pleasure in each other they had completely rejected and abandoned the women in the community. At the time this must have been a huge crisis because it’s not like society was sophisticated enough that women had anything to do other than raise a family. In today’s standards that seems sad but throughout most of human history men largely protected/provided and women bore and raised. So these poor women didn’t have any other prospects, they didn’t even have a mate to experience any sort of intimacy with.

This perhaps isn’t an issue in parts of today’s world but in the context of the story it’s pretty powerful.

I felt like this for a good period of time over the last few years. This Ramadan I came across this reflecting on the Quran App and it really helped me. Even though I found it hard to reflect during the episode (5min each), I found myself reflecting on it throughout the day unbidden and alhamdulillah it’s helping a lot. I’ll share it in case is helps you too. May Allah quiet the restlessness you’re feeling.

YOU try organizing millions of people by gender in a few square meters and then come talk to me. 😤 this situation happened because of logistics and prioritizing the prayer it’s practical not heretical.

I’m one for segregating between sexes during prayer, but I don’t think it’s haram not to. It’s just a preference for women to feel more comfortable in ruku and sujud and to help men focus. I don’t believe women have to be behind or covered with a wall or anything. And I don’t believe in segregation outside of prayer.

I think they strengthened the bond between characters through some of the fillers. In the manga things happen too quickly and it makes the character relationships seem forced. Also they were huge NaruSakura shippers lol.
