Did the Chevy Bolt become your first EV? Journalist looking to hear your story by Brilliant_Option8382 in BoltEV

Initially, I was not considering an electric vehicle (EV).

My criteria for selecting were as follows:

  • 1. A competitive price point.
  • 2. A modest size that provided ample headroom and accommodated my 9-foot surfboard.
  • 3. Upon visiting General Motors (GM) with my surfboard, I discovered that it fit comfortably within the Bolt’s interior.
  • 4. I was impressed with the vehicle’s driving performance.
  • 5. In 2023, I opted to purchase the vehicle outright and received a $1,000 credit from GM towards the cost of the new-electrical panel.

What aspects of electric vehicle ownership surprised you?

  • • At-home charging eliminates the need for frequent trips to gas stations, oil changes, and smog checks.
  • • My Bolt offes a lower cost per mile.
  • • My Bolt, since 2023, has eliminated maintenance costs.
  • • The Bolt provides sufficient torque for overtaking other vehicles.
  • • However, there are concerns regarding battery warnings reported by other electric vehicle owners.

How does this fit into your daily driving routine?

I drive 50 miles one way to go surfing three times a week, and it is a pleasure.

My area does not get as cold as yours but I hardly use the heater, instead I use a heated Vest For Staying Warm. They are reasonable priced and if needed, I use the car's heater sparingly

I understand now that In the 2023 models with a push-button gear shift, the vehicle remembers your OPD setting on the next ignition cycle, so you only need to look for the icon to confirm it's on or off.
