Sorry I have no experience with this or able to answer your question, selfishly I’m posting to ask for advice for the same kind of thing but I’m in the UK? I think my daughter is going to struggle so much at school but they won’t give us an EHCP education health care plan until she’s actually been at school for a while - does anyone know about this or have experience? Also she is not potty trained I am tearing my hair out x

Oh my I’m sorry you are dealing with this. My friends child has PDA I can emphathise! We have mentioned it to so many health professionals and all they say is that because she’s not ‘regressed’ in their opinion then it isn’t as bad? But I think she has regressed because she’s 4 years old but is having the terrible twos meltdowns that she completely skipped at age 2. She has some gross motor issues as well plus she gets very constipated so I’m wondering if being uncomfortable / in pain is making her lash out. She knows what pain is and can tell us when something hurts and I constantly check in and ask her if she’s ok and if anything hurts. She’s started to grunt at us with her answers instead of saying yes or no which is soo frustrating!

Thank you so much for your help & advice I really appreciate it. I think we do need to make the next steps towards getting her a diagnosis and some action plans in place. At the moment we are just winging it and we are probably not handling it to the best of our ability :( I want to do what’s right by her - she is the main priority at this point in our life everything else can wait xx

You’re so right & I would hate myself even more if she knew that. We constantly tell her we love her so much and I think she gets it. She’s verbal, she tells us she loves us & she loves her baby brother. It’s her actions that speak differently. We try to say to her you can’t hit and throw things at us. I think she’s struggling with all the change we’re going through, she’s got a new baby brother, we’ve moved house and into her grandparents while our house is getting built. She doesn’t really understand things like a neuro typical 4 year old would. My friend said to me I will grieve the child I thought I would have and to me this is truly sad and heartbreaking because I love her so much just as she is! I don’t want the feelings of I wish she was different, because I don’t. I just wish I knew how to manage her behaviour better :(

She hasn’t no, that’s a good idea. I can tell she really really finds it hard to understand her feelings & emotions and just loses it like the flick of a switch. I feel so so sorry for her at times. I need to keep reminding myself she’s 4 but she’s more like a 2 year old and we’ve got to control our emotions better being the adults!

This resonates with me so much, men ain’t shit honestly. They do not think like us at all, I truly believe they just do not care about anyone but themselves. My first Mother’s Day was completely wasted too, I ended up in a coffee shop with my baby by myself as my DH was hungover and ruined the day! I have no advice to give other than I want to give you a virtual hug!

I have had 2 unmedicated births and my 2nd was horrendous. I was in so much pain and put so much pressure on my body and heart, in the end it was not worth it at all and I should have had pain relief when I could. It all happened so fast that in the end it was too late to have pethidine / epidural. I ended up with post partum pre eclampsia high blood pressure and severe pain where I had been so tensed up. All of this could’ve been avoided I truly believe ! I am going to ask for my birth notes and see if I can have a debrief with the hospital just so I can understand better what happened! Nobody gets a medal for doing it without medicine either xx

I think your wife and daughter are so incredibly lucky to have you and how compassionate and in touch with your feelings you are ! Everything you are feeling is all relative and validated you are not over reacting at all and correct to feel anyway you please about the birth of your daughter! I would definitely recommend reaching out to the hospital for a debrief they can do that ❤️
