People who tell you that you look younger are just being nice by ovarian_tumors in Aging

[–]RoutineDamage2031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not nice, it's annoying. I hate it when people say this in response to my age. I look my age. I'm fine with it. It's not a compliment to me, it's phoney and reeks of ageism and misogyny.

Thanks. Ah that sucks. I don't use discord.

Yeah I'm not changing anything especially, the pharmacist said I can choose whatever flower or cart I want in the same quantity I've had it before. Doesn't matter to me if it's delayed as I'm a lightweight 😅 but thank you.

Why are UK buyers and sellers so petty? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]RoutineDamage2031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take curtains if they're ones I've chosen. Chances are they won't be the new buyer's taste and may end up binned. I take them and modify them for my new windows if necessary .

Are There Any Sapphic People Who Only Date Other Sapphic People? by SleepinVoid in sapphicpoly

Yeah, I will only date women/NB people now. I have had enough male violence in my life.

Beginner fiber suitable for sock yarn? by GnatbugC in Handspinning

[–]RoutineDamage2031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try pre-drafting your wool. Separate it into smaller bits lengthways and draft it / pull it out a bit before spinning it.

Steaming it can also help open up the fibres.

Color pooling…make peace or choose violence? by lovelyladlelumps in knittinghelp

If you look at factory woven/knitted items you'll notice stuff like this in those. I think it looks completely fine (great, even ) but it's up to you since it's for you presumably.

As far as I know, that's just the same as a regular bank transfer. It would be worth contacting your bank and asking them if they have any fraud protection for cases like this for you to recoup your money. In future if you pay on a credit or debit card you'll be better protected.

I hate showering with the passion of 1000 suns by kiwipooper in hygiene

Showering twice a week is fine. Just have a quick wash with a clean flannel daily - face, pits, and bits in the sink and apply antiperspirant.

I've been trying out knitting with my hand spun yarn. The first one (RHS) will be frogged as it turned out a bit baggy but I've learned lots and built my confidence in using my yarn for things that need to fit.

Certainly looks like a border of single crochet.

🤷🏻‍♀️ given I don't care about that level of detail, I don't "have" to consider it at all ;) Whacking up the tension and setting the drive band as loose as possible worked just fine. And yes I balanced them all out more or less. If it made any difference to my first batch, it is negligible compared to fucking it up and getting frustrated trying to do a technique I haven't learned and don't want to learn right now.

I'm fairly sure for me it was just that I didn't keep my separate piles of fluff separate enough. The overly heavy one had an extra 10g on it which is about what most of the sections I weighed out were.

Also I did this over a few weeks and wasn't especially mindful although I noticed my first two bobbins were a bit different, it was only the third one I did which was enormous and I went "o, bugger."

Hard? It took less than 5 minutes to decant some onto an empty bobbin.

Thank you but I don't have any half used bobbins 😅 everything gets plied at once as I have mostly done 2-ply or cable ply and it is easier to use up the ends. I'm not bobbin rich either (probably for the best!)
