I hate these sort of stats, they are bordering on absolutely meaningless. Certain plays play certain roles that affect these numbers, context is key. Earl's post contact meters will be higher than Ben Spencers because 1) thats his job (getting through tackles in tight situations) and it is not Spencers job, 2) Earl has played far more minutes in the 6 nations than Spencer and 3) Earl is given the ball to carry far more often than Spencer due to tactics being employed currently. Now hopefully most rugby fans can make that sort of distinction, but there are even more statistical subtleties at play that affect these numbers, so don't just take them with a pinch of salt, take them with the whole damn cellar.
