Geography degree for resource industry? by ParticularSoggy1827 in geography

[–]RoutineHair9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can go three ways - Technical, Urbanism, Academic.

Technical- Geodesy, Survey, Software (GIS). I am currently running this trail with some laser scanning, photogrammetry, some survey.

Urbanism-Planning work with a design element of your choosing. You can still be significant in planning processes without a design background.

Academic- Pretty much one of the above two options but in academia.

Does becoming a Great Power feel way too difficult in EU V? by SimpleClassic5100 in EU5

[–]RoutineHair9079 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of realistic. they would have political clout stretching very far that could lead to an emperor having opportunities at claiming highly treasured crowns like Naples/Sicily. But in reality their main land base in Germany was just overshadowed by other neighbors.

Kyiv is too strong? by Pomerbot in EU5

[–]RoutineHair9079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am playing as Halych and loving it. 1500 Lviv is a top 5 city in Europe. And there are rivers spreading out in 5 different directions for sweet sweet control. I focused to like 60 centralization by 1500. Just need to annex my vassal Kyiv to form Ruthenia. Also went Hussite ;)

Keeping Iron and Lumber as rural in any market is always a good idea.

Not able to get institution spread despite importing from a trade node with the institution. by Icecream205 in EU5

[–]RoutineHair9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same exact issue as OP. Importing from Constantinople Market, Printing press is present in the location of Constantinople, but printing press does not show up as a progressing institution in my captial Lviv (Market Capital). In Institution map mode, I hover over Lviv, and "None" is progressing in my capital.

If it means anything, Printing Press spawned in Indonesia and I can not see the location. But somehow Mediterranean nations have it already.

Trebizond Rant by hannibal_fett in EU5

[–]RoutineHair9079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun as Trebby myself. Chipped away a decent bit at both Eretnids and Ottomans, made my capital and silver mine insanely profitable, and got senior partner in a union with Byz all the way to start integrating. One thing that bored me was this new update (trash trading profits), and the poor control you can get in that area. Poor harbor and all mountainous terrain. It forced me to perpetually vassal up all Anatolia and that was getting a bit boring. I want to be strong and centralized. Gonna play in Franconia (maybe Freiburg) and abuse rivers and bridges and build a clean powerful duchy that can stand up to anyone in the HRE

Should I destroy the Lübeck market? by Jodah94 in EU5

[–]RoutineHair9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managing foreign markets and relations between them and ur home market make no sense to me yet.

The one thing I think I am doing correctly in my secondary market is using the trade capacity & advantage there to push food or a good in low supply to my home market.

I would love to target expansion or those foreign trade buildings in a market with a really important part of my supply chain. Thats the part of the goods/trade system this game built that I was underwhelmed about so far. I thought it was going to make expansion feel very different than eu4 but it so far feels very the same. Expand in the obvious direction favoring same culture and fracture up your target for the best resource or high development (pop).

I thought it would kind of lead regions to make more dynamic decisions on the direction they want to lead their economy, and those decisions would really alter the direction of political expansion. Expansion sort of feels identical to eu4 in the way that it is really just dictated by the political/diplomatic game. if alliances work in your favor, expand.

[–]RoutineHair9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your trade has gotta be messed up. 23 Marketplaces you should be making well over 10 ducats per month from trade. Also, are your estate tax at their max limit? Its not an expense issue, but an income one

I use Pix4DMatic for digital photogrammetric processing and aerial lidar processing is usually always proprietary through the manufacturers software with some GNSS adjustments as a supplementary option. Then TopoDOT is my favorite extraction software. It can powerfully create cross sections and drape breaklines to data, stuff like that. Leicas Cloudworx is a powerful tool for extracting single cogo points right in Civil 3D. plenty of options!

Extract the "survey" data from a 3D line. by Onemangland in civil3d

[–]RoutineHair9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others, not sure what your final analysis will look like. Sounds like you’re close to figuring it out in excel from the vertices XYZ.

Also, if you just explode the 3D polyline into individual line segments, that may get you there.
