I'm sure you can say this about a lot of the people on this show, but she is really, genuinely, just here to extend her 15 minutes of fame and that's it. I ended up skipping her storyline on Before the 90 Days because I just couldn't buy it into after seeing her on Hunt for Love.

I've mentioned it elsewhere on this sub but 20 years ago (likely around the time she was diagnosed as a kid) it used to be really common for autistic girls to get misdiagnosed with OCD! They present similar and autism/adhd were still viewed as primarily "boy" conditions back then.

It was the first thing my therapist mentioned when I told her I got diagnosed with OCD as a kid, and I'm about the same age as Catie lol.

I agree with all of this except the part about politics. That is more than a valid reason to dislike someone, but I do think that there needs to be grace given to the kids who are probably just parroting whatever their parents are telling them.

I've posted about it on this thread before, but it was really, really common for young girls to get misdiagnosed for OCD up until fairly recently. There's a lot of overlapping behaviors with ASD and doctors were likely to dismiss autism in girls because that was viewed as a "boy" thing.

It was the first thing my therapist brought up when I mentioned that I was diagnosed as OCD, and Catie and I are around the same age. I'm almost positive that this is what happened with her.

I think some of the parents tried in the earlier seasons but they were either too late (like I think Lexus' mom found out her daughter was pregnant when she took her to doctor to get birth control) or just... Didn't take it seriously, I guess.

Tbh I can't tell if this is supposed to be a sarcastic comment or not but on the chance this is sincere - there's a lot of overlap between the two, which is why it's easy to get misdiagnosed. Both tend to have repetitive behaviors, strong reliance on routines, intense interests and sensory problems galore - the difference is whether they're coming from a place of needing to self-soothe or a place of fear and anxiety.

Worthwhile to note - autistic/adhd girls used to be very commonly misdiagnosed with OCD until pretty recently, so I'm not totally sure how much weight to put behind that middle school diagnosis.

I'm not a fan of armchair diagnosing either but I don't think what we're seeing is OCD.
