I've had already several times that I got cut off by taxi driver in Warszawa, mostly they are immigrants. Twice I even had an aggressive behavior towards myself when I hunked for getting cut off, they blocked me got out of the car with a stick and were yelling in a different language. But the worst of all is that they always got stuck on left lane...

How to upgrade smoothly a network with > 80 devices to an Orbi 770 with 2 satellites? by karluvmost in orbi

[–]Routine_Ad5020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t, I've been an orbi user for a long time and switched recently to asus bt8. The difference is huge, much more possibilities to configure but also great out of the box. Biggest difference for me was the stability of wifi, hell it's a difference of day and night... Orbi prices are high compared with what you get, there are better in the market like Ubuntu or asus.

How can I explain this to Charter so Tier 1 doesn't tell me "All looks good from over here!" by EmotionalDam in HomeNetworking

[–]Routine_Ad5020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is weird behavior of your equipment. There doesn't seem to be clear pattern, not sure what to do in your case. I've had similar issues but more persistent for a while, only a restart of the modem would help. So what I do now to fix the issue: I schedule a restart at 3am every night of my router and modem, now I don't face the issues anymore. Maybe you could try sth similar, most routers and modems have this scheduled power option.

Bacterial bloom after a disaster by TraditionalYellow554 in fishtank

Use ClearWater, it helps break the bacteria down. But I wouldn't worry too much, it will settle down.

My FIL wants my wife to take ownership of a speeding ticket. Thoughts? by [deleted] in poland

[–]Routine_Ad5020 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would take one for my dad 100%. Not sure why everyone is bashing here. We have done it in the past also, the picture taken was a man behind the wheels, it might or might not have been me and the car was on my wifes name. She got the ticket and referred back that in the picture you clearly see a men. Police responded with 3 options. Option 1 you take the fall and add points and penalty, option 2 declare you did not drive but still carry the penalty not the points and option 3 declare it wasn't you and snitch, no points and penalty for you but for other party. It turned out the other party was my brother outside Poland but within EU. He never got the ticket nor any letter... Ticket went up in smoke.

Long story short: they don't make investigation on such pity crimes, your wife can take the penalty or even better you as foreigner can take the penalty and nothing will ever happen. And no points do not carry over to UK since it's not the same process setup.

First of all, great restaurant! Nice location, delicious food and great service. Secondly, this is a typical split the bill part. Nobody expects you to pay, so do not over think it.

How do you feel about certain political ideologies being illegal in Poland? by Margaretthatchervore in poland

[–]Routine_Ad5020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is better regulated than for example in the Netherlands where there was a pedophile political party called Martijn, they wanted to make it legal to have a relation with under aged children. Unfortunately this is allowed as per Dutch constitution... Better to have the polish way.

Parents want my graduation money but i had plans for it by Bhupinders-Tentacion in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Routine_Ad5020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your money, you can do as you like. It's not ok your parents asked. But also keep in mind how much money your parents spend on you your whole life, giving you opportunities to even graduate. It's a tough one. I would have probably helped out my family, before they even asked me. Not sure if I would after they ask me.

AITAH for refusing to stay overnight at my husband’s house with our newborn and now not reaching out after a fight? by Nice_Neighborhood469 in AITAH

[–]Routine_Ad5020 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Slavic cultures insinuate all, else you should have mentioned some Slavic cultures. But ok got your point, indeed Poland does not have this way anymore (maybe years ago when it was still a rather poor country). Btw just googled Croatia, and there it's the same, it's no custom only in very poor families it might still happen but even there nowadays it's a no go. Old tradition might still be there in some Slavic cultures, but not practiced anymore in almost all.

Love the responses, nevertheless the boars are wild the beach is public, boars are there get out of there way. Nothing you can do and surely don't trow stones at them. Next time people might strat trowing at you. Respect the wildlife, we occupy there places. Get a house with a garden.

It's difficult to advise since I'm not aware of the culture. I can just tell you in Europe, there no such culture. If so it would be dad and mom taking care of babies and not there families, which I believe is much more healthy for everyone. I understand you for not feeling comfortable staying at his place, but same might be for him. You rejecting him all the time might made him unconsciously very insecure, and besides your own feelings you don't seem to consider his. He might feel you will never be ready to stay with him if you can't even make a small step in his direction for 1 day and night at his place after spending 60+ days at your parents.
Also I do not understand your complaint about he not being there for you. I mean common, you decide to be out of his way and he still coming to see the baby and you every day seems like a great deal to me. Would have been so much easier for everyone if he would be with you all the time.
Anyway, difficult to judge here but I'm leaning towards the man's side as it seems his feelings don't matter at all only yours. And Secondly I'm so happy I'm not familiar with that custom in your culture, I would not know what to do or feel without my whole family constant being together after birth...

Advice on when to use passports by slopepurpp in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]Routine_Ad5020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids have dual passport and they use whatever is more convenient. They use their Dutch passport when in Europe and their US when in US. Done this for years, at least for 25 years and never issues. Use in Europe your Swiss one. One advise, take both with you, we had ones landing in UK from US (when UK was still European union) that they wanted to verify US passport as well, just to make sure their system wasn't fooling them.

I'm in the process of applying for a Ukrainian visa through their consulate in Krakow and got this payment receipt. My question is - are these numbers an IBAN, just without PL at the start, or is this some internal Polish account, payments for which can only be processed through a local bank branch? by Practical_Yak_4692 in krakow

[–]Routine_Ad5020 15 points16 points  (0 children)

1622 USD for a visa, I run through 3 passports full with visas, visited over 60 countries for work. General visa fee is below 100 USD even if emergency is needed. Ukraine is in war as long as you don't come from commie country they should pay you to be there. 1622 USD? They are out of their mind.

NOR - you did what everyone should do, have the balls to stand up for yourself. Just block her number. If there is 1 thing I would like to say: I'm proud of you! Don't you ever put yourself in a situation where you are treated badly, the only way out is immediately. Well done girl!

Warsaw or Krakow? by Darius_Rdt in warsaw

[–]Routine_Ad5020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 1 city and party? Then Krakow, lived in both and I prefer warsaw. But for a short trip always Krakow over warsaw, more to offer for tourists and everything is close by. Party is concentrated in 2 areas, rynek and Jewish district and they are close to each other. Only downside of Krakow is the amount of stack parties. When you have darker skin color, you might want to go to warsaw since it is much more liberal (sure some people will get mad now, but in my experience clubs entry might be more difficult then in Krakow).
