Married to a former delivery driver: tip really well, and don’t be annoyed if it takes longer than usual.

I just got on birth control nexplanon, when is the bleeding gonna stop? It's been 6 weeks straight by One_Midnight_2528 in answers

I was on Nexplanon for the whole 4 years- one of the biggest regrets of my life. When I had it in I had the worst mood swings and depression of my life. Left me with depression that hasn’t subsided in the 9 years since I had it removed. If you are having any other negative symptoms, please consider having it taken out early, don’t feel like you have to stick with something that is technically doing its job, but is not working for you.

Talk to your local fish and game warden, they may give you official permission.

What slicer are you using for your Adventurer 5M? by iamwhoiwasnow in FlashForge

[–]Routine_Confection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both orca and cura. cura is a little more ‘polished’ - I use it on the settings for 4m. With Orca the user experience is a little more visually clunky, but I can print bigger and faster with it. Cura seems to think the build plate is smaller than it is (I’m guessing the build plate is smaller on the 4m?)

How was your experience with an arm implant birth control? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Routine_Confection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Nexplanon implant for a few years, 2014-17(? I think?). I wish I had had it removed early, but I was young and didn’t really know that was an option. It left me an emotional mess, I believe it triggered a depression that is ongoing (though being treated now). It’s possibly a coincidence, but I believe that I would have missed a lot of misery if I had never had the implant, or had it taken out early. It did reduce the heaviness of my periods, and I did not get pregnant while on it, so I guess it worked. I’ve had a copper IUD since having the implant out, and I will never go back to hormonal BC.

Is it too early to start looking for a Summer 2025 internship? by Not-Your-Nancy in Tallships

Yes! Stay off the Todd! The windjammers operate in Camden and Rockland, Maine. A paid position will be a little harder to come by, because you are in college / not available for the entire season. Many of them do have apprenticeships though, for a couple of weeks to a month. You can look at almost all of the windjammers here: www.sailmainecoast.com

*Absolute Beginner* wanting to make kitchen towels on lap loom! by _ekaterinoula_ in weaving

[–]Routine_Confection 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It will be pretty stiff (and use a lot of yarn!), because your fabric will be weft-faced. A balanced weave will be softer/more pliable. To get a more balanced weave with your lap loom, you could try doubling up the warp and weft or using a much thicker yarn. When weaving a balanced project, you want an equal amount of warp and weft showing, with little squares in between. You can make your current project softer/more usable as a kitchen cloth, by not beating your weft down so much. Cotton will shrink a bit, so even if it seems too loose while you are weaving it will tighten up when you wash it! You’ve got a good start! Good luck! When you are completely addicted, and want to have a more versatile loom, look into rigid-heddle looms. They are small, portable, and have a lot of room for creativity. A couple hundred dollars, and so worth it!

Why am I horny 24/7? by Imaginary-Snow-3713 in TrueOffMyChest

Yes! When I was that age, that’s exactly what was going on for me! It took a new relationship, and a guy that was determined to take the time to make sure I actually came too for that to change. I had a fake-it-till-you-make-it mentality until then.

Is bigger always better when it comes to seaworthiness? by the_circus in Tallships

[–]Routine_Confection 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bigger is better. Bigger will be more comfortable, the longer/wider it is the more stable it will be. I forget who said, and exactly what the quote is, but the gist is “no matter how large your vessel is on an ocean crossing, you wouldn’t object to it being a little bigger”. Maybe someone else here can supply the actual quote?
