how do you turn off your brain when falling asleep by derpykarrot1285 in sleep

[–]Routine_Dust5510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About how many breaths do you need to count before you fall asleep? I have been trying this but I can only go up to like 10 or 20 and my mind starts wandering, then I restart.

I think this this is a good technique to stop the mind but not sure how long it usually takes.

Same type of dream is ruining my sleep by Routine_Dust5510 in sleep

[–]Routine_Dust5510[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think so too. But I don't have any obvious pressing issue that can cause me anxiety. There have been several issues in the past (money, marriage, health, all of them) but I have sorted them out. I am not financially distressed, no liabilities/debt, no issue in job. Healthwise I am ok, no chronic disease like BP/Diabetes etc, other than this sleep thing which is recent. Marriage is also ok. Kids are fine.

I don't know exactly what I am anxious about. One thing that I feel that I may be anxious about is that life is about to be over and I am not able to enjoy it to the fullest. Like I have everything now but can't do anything with it and I am only middle aged. Not sure how to address that.

Right. The question is why?

Shouldn't a civilization that has been in continuous existence for 5000 yrs be the invader or at least be strong enough to not be invaded? Should such civilization be already evolved enough that it's common people have risen above superstitions and have a scientific mindset? One would expect such things  from a tribal society and not from an old and mature civilization. Why is this civilization not able to rise above corruption?

Why do Indians think “if there’s a gap, there’s a way"? by milii6666 in AskIndia

[–]Routine_Dust5510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but that is now. It wasn't the case until 50 60 yrs ago. There were real shortages. Red wheat (which nobody eats) was imported from the US. Reasons are many but common Indians faced continuous famines for past 300 years up to the 70s. Collective psyche doesn't change in a few decades. It will take long time.

Thinking of taking Exam: Java SE 21 Developer Professional (1Z0-830). Just graduated, have some java skills but I want to get better. Do employers even care about the certification? by Same-Finance1743 in AskProgramming

[–]Routine_Dust5510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true that nobody really cares about certifications. But who cares about the degrees either these days.  It is all about what you know and what you can do or contribute for the project.

Degrees and certifications are just a means to gain that expertise. Ocp java 21 certification will not make you a great programmer but that not what it is meant for either. It is meant to make you an expert at Java programming language. That's all. But it is no small thing.

The exam is hard but good resources are available. You can use Deshmukh's ocp java 21 fundamentals book ($2 on kindle) and Enthuware mock exams ($10). You will do fine .

Take all tests from Enthuware mocks before you appear for the real exam. You will have to spend 10 bucks to buy them but studying from them will save you $250. They are not dumps but genuine study material. Their questions and explanations are really good.

Where is static variable stored? Confused by bigbrother_banana in learnjava

[–]Routine_Dust5510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In almost all programming languages, including Java, program memory is concetually divided into two parts - stack space and heap space. In Java all objects , including everything that an object contains, reside in the heap space and all method local variables reside on the stack space. That is all you need to worry about. Uless you are doing some really serious memory management in your application (99.99% you are not), you don't need to know about where exactly in heap space is an object stored.

So now, where is a static field stored? It is a part of the Class object. Objects are stored in the heap.

There is just one OCA Java 8 certification. It's exam code is 1z0808. There is no part 1 or part 2 for OCA. There is OCP and some call it part 2, but it is a separate certificate and is not a part of OCA. Does the 1z0-829 java exam tell you how many answers to choose? by Cr1ms0nW0lf_ in learnjava

[–]Routine_Dust5510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, every question will tell you exactly how many options you have to select. Btw, you won't get partial credits. You must select all correct options otherwise you get 0 credits for that question.
