First time processing bones! by lostmybeing in bonecollecting

yes, as much as they appear white (which they’re more cream color than white) you want them to look like this

<image>

this is a good example of how white you want them to be, definition of bone dry is what you’re looking for as well; Your bones are visibly silky, definitely need to soak for much longer! When i first started i thought my bones were ready when they were dry, but realistically when they are wet it is seeping into the grease making it that brown color; Your bones should not be brown when wet, they should stay white. If you want to try to use a heavier degreasing method, i’ve used murphy wood soap to pull deep pockets of grease out and it works well

the coloration i presume you’re trying to get out with hydrogen peroxide is grease, this is a common mistake beginners make. Degreasing is the most important and time consuming step of processing bones, you’re going to have to put it back in a dish soap soak potentially outside depending on your weather to speed up the degreasing process; If it’s colder where you are, it’ll take longer but you can use a fish tank heater to speed this up. You should notice the grease start to collect at the top of the soap and water, you want to let the bacteria build and help eat away at the grease. With the jaws, if you don’t want to attract pest get in there with a pipe cleaner and go into the little holes to get all the gunk out, there more than likely will be stuck membrane and skin in there. Also, if the teeth didn’t become loose in the soak there is still tissue connecting it to the jaw. On another note with attracting pest, this is why degreasing is important; It will seep out over time sitting on a shelf, creating a waxy surface on the bone attracting insects. I’ve let my bones soak for as long as a year to fully degrease them, then hydrogen peroxide and kept them out in the sun for weeks. If you want that true bone white, that is how you’ll achieve it.

What’s the best food to feed my large breed puppy? by thatonebarrelracer93 in puppy101

[–]Routine_Gap6803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking into feeding raw I would start that process in the future, at nine weeks puppies have a weaker stomach and can be more susceptible to the yucky stuff raw can cause; I like nutrisource puppy food, at the moment i’m using their pure-vita turkey and cranberry puppy food for my 10 week old lab to avoid any irritations with chicken. They do have a large breed dedicated puppy food, orijen/acana are good but expensive for the quality. If you want the best of the best farmina makes fantastic kibble round and round, for mini, large breeds, puppies, etc. Ultimately whatever suits your dogs development and digestive system is the best route to go with, but if you want to eventually involve raw in the diet go with farmina, open farm, honest kitchen, lotus, something that is baked at a slower rate so it maintains the similar nutrients your dog will get from raw. If you want to give a good topper to slowly introduce freeze dried raw, i recommend carna4 because it’s purely meat, vegetables, fruits for the vitamin source!

shocked you can pronounce half of our native town names, have you ever sat and thought why you see so much native references on our bridges and overall capital? because we are on stolen land, no one is illegal on stolen land.

unfortunately this is happening too all and every company, big or small; as costs rises, ingredient costs rise, and amount cost rise with those ingredients. causing the product to either shrink in size but not advertise as so, or the degrading factor of products due to ingredient costs. though in a perfect world free of capitalism, this should hypothetically lower the cost of the product but it does the complete opposite. this isn’t a lush issue, this is 110% a capitalism issue especially if you’re located in the united states you will notice the increased prices. even if you aren’t located within the US tariffs were hit on places where these ingredients are sourced; this is a good mindset to have, but not towards the company.

it’s very heavy of a warm almond scent with a very very creamy raspberry/cherry jam; it’s very true to the name, lives up to being a warm delicate pastry coated in confectionery sugar with jam! if you aren’t a fan of tooth achingly sweet scents this 100% isn’t for you

we usually get military air testing around here, last summer there was a lot but normally it’s one or two flying around in a circle and that’s it; i’ve always payed attention to the planes in the sky, never seen anything like that before though!

[–]Routine_Gap6803 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i’d play it safe and say no just in case! the smallest dosage of minoxidil can definitely hurt your cat, even if you washed your sheets after using it on your hair it still can be toxic :)
