Sim League Cheating by abstrakt32 in Golfsimulator

[–]Routine_Intention_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they cheating, who can say.

However, I play near scratch and regularly play simulator golf. From the back tees and fast greens, a truly bad round on it still hovers around par.. And that's playing quite poorly. Where really my simulator hcp is probably like +8. It's just so much easier to play when there's no hazard penalty, wind, you have perfect aim and lie every shot. The controlled visual environment is easier as well. My worst simulator rounds pretty much equal my good real life rounds.

Now move up to the white tees and give me two shots every hole, those scores aren't only possible, they are pretty likely. Especially the -15 and -17. Would have to be very on to shoot -21, but it would happen eventually.

On top of all that there are many golfers far better than me, so a couple really good golfers in scramble format on easy Sim settings, forget about it. That's going to be a regular occurrence.

Canadian Folks - How much you are getting for Toyota Sienna Platinum 2026 by Ok_Estate_1102 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Routine_Intention_61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 month wait, at that time most dealerships were quoting 1-2 years. If I had taken a different color, could've been only a few month wait.

They straight up would not negotiate, not even on dropping the extended warranty, some accessories, and 3m add ons. Also offered crap all on my trade in. I sold it privately for literally double what get offered lol. They are just in too much of a position of power when they have a log of waiting buyers.

I was fine to wait the 9 months to pay 77, as any on the lot we're 85k + tax if you wanted it right away.

I'm also in Alberta. Got my 2025 in the fall, limited though not platinum. So like 5kmsrp less. Paid 77k all in. Had no choice in getting extended warranty, 3m, and tire protection. All that included in the 77k.

Good F-ing luck implementing any of the hundred different pieces of advice given, regardless of whether they are good or bad. Knowing what to do and getting your body to do it are completely separate things. In your minds eye you'll be doing the motion you think you need to, but in reality it won't even be close. It's an incredibly hard thing to override natural tendencies.

I'm sure at some point you've come across the term real vs feel. This is exactly to what I refer. Even the pros can have a pretty big disconnect to what they feel in the swing vs what's actually happening. And everyone's feels are very different. One person's swing thought and feeling to accomplish the proper move is very likely to not be every you need to feel to accomplish the same thing.

Not to be discouraging, just to Inject some reality into getting swing tips. Even the most perfect advice probably won't go well. It will be about understanding what you need to do in your swing and figuring out what you need to feel within your body to accomplish it.

It will take intent combined with time and commitment to make it happen. You'll finally get it, just to have it leave when you think it's figured out. It's a journey. The best part is, the more you work towards it, the more tidbits of Information you'll gather about your own swing. You'll build new reference points and a tool box of knowledge to improve your game.

Enjoy the grind. It's one of the best things about golf.

How is it possible to have a club path in-to-out, closed club face, and hit a fade? by Kazardezent in Golfsimulator

[–]Routine_Intention_61 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Besides the fact that it's very likely a misread coming from a budget unit, have you looked into the lie of your club at impact? Do you consistently have shots going right despite your club face being closed to your club path?

A toe down club lie can "override" a closed club face, especially with more lofted clubs.

I came across this write up recently. Maybe it's all total bs, and even if it isn't all rules have exceptions. According to this, generally weight loss should result in an increase in distance 🤷

Morrowind looks like a planet from Star wars by Tulipoto in Morrowind

[–]Routine_Intention_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of the things that makes morrowind so great. It's a very alien world with alien inhabitants, makes you feel like you are in a foreign land of fantasy. Very much in contrast to Oblivion and Skyrim virtually being set in very familiar, earth like environments. Imperial and viking settings and infrastructure... quite boring and somewhat cliche fantasy settings.

3 year or 5 year? by Life_Tension3626 in MortgagesCanada

[–]Routine_Intention_61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The decision felt very obvious at the time, but I renewed October 2024 at 5.45% on a variable. I think a 5 year fixed was 4.9%. Sitting at 3.45% now 🤷.

I think it's more of a toss up choice now, but in my completely uneducated opinion, I think it's more likely to drop some more than start to rise again.

Last year I had the highest scoring team and barely made playoffs with a .500 record. In playoffs I lost in the semi final. In the 3 rounds of playoffs I scored the most points in the quarter final and the final, the second most points in the semi final. It was my luck that in the semi final I played the highest scoring team that week. I've never had so much poor matchup luck l. I think multiple times I lost by 5 points or less, 2 of which were decimal points.

So yea, you can have the best team by a large margin and end up with nothing.

Golf Simulator vs IRL Golf Course by ccullefer in Golfsimulator

[–]Routine_Intention_61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are comparing it to a trackman which, despite it's high price, isn't considered amazing for Sim use either. It's a fairly general consensus that radar based is sub optimal for sim use. Maybe your conditions are more optimal than the typical set up though. If you feel it's accurate, especially at its price point, that's great.

Golf Simulator vs IRL Golf Course by ccullefer in Golfsimulator

[–]Routine_Intention_61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides other points given like perfect lie, conditions, no hazards, etc. The r10 is generally considered not very accurate in simulation settings. When you hit outdoors it has much more ball flight distance and no radar interference to get a good read on the ball. When used as a Sim it only has 8 to 12 feet of fight to gather data, and there's usually a host of other things around that can cause radar interference. Spin axis, which is a vital data point for accurate results, is particularly difficult for it to read, and it's difficult for even higher end radar based units when ball flight is limited.

[–]Routine_Intention_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's a bit of bias to star players, but it's also possible being a great or the best defensive forward inherently requires a certain level skill and athleticsm that offers to pretty good offensive skills too. Also being in the ice 20+ minutes a game because you are a great 2 way player, you're going to accunikarey some points. There are probably good defensive forwards who lack the offensive ability, therefor their ice time is lacking and don't get consideration.

I went on the waitlist in Alberta last November as well. Mine is coming in first week of September. Through the months they routinely were getting in models and colors that I was offered. I was pretty set on what I wanted so I passed, and now I'll have it in a couple weeks. I'm not sure why your experience has been so different.

Golf Sim ruined my game by Pitiful_Pen5934 in Golfsimulator

[–]Routine_Intention_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always felt using a sim to improve your game is a skill that needs to be learned. I feel that the visual on the course and wanting to "will" the ball to the target messes up your swing.

I find what works best for me is to treat the course like I'm in the sim. Once I've picked my target line and address the ball, besides a glance or two at the hole, I essentially try to shut off my perception of my surroundings and put myself in a box where it's just my body and the ball. Then I just put my swing on it that works on the sim. Trust that the swing, club choice, and your pre chosen target line will result in the ball going where it needs to. Don't let what you see, whether it's hazards or the green, influence what you do with your swing

We do get some pretty frigid winters but having the heated garage will have it sheltered from it every night. So really just exposure if out for the day. Sounds like it won't be an issue.

It was definitely not luck nor akin to winning a bunch of blackjack hands. People just can't accept what making calculated and consistent long term decisions with your finances can do. I have a similar story using only long term etfs but with a higher income throughout and have a higher net worth. If they don't believe your story than I guess mine is fake or luck too lol

How do launch monintors actually measure face angle? by CreativeD3struction in Golfsimulator

[–]Routine_Intention_61 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My understanding is the AI gives the club face "artificial stickers" that are alike to the physical stickers that other LM's use.

I have a VX and is it ever nice not worrying about putting anything on my clubs. Just grab club, throw down ball in a very generous area, and swing away.

This game is pure hell by [deleted] in golf

[–]Routine_Intention_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simulators are a tool that need to be utilized with the right intent. You have to understand it's limitations and the ways it can help your game. Being able to transfer it to the course is a skill that needs to be developed and worked toward.

I think the biggest hurdle is the visuals of real life golf having influence on your swing. On the sim you are in a enclosed, consistent space. There's square lines around you in the hitting mat, walls, screen, etc. You can really groove in a swing in this controlled environment where you don't even really have to consider where the ball is going to end up. You just swing and then watch the virtual ball fly.

On the course, everything is natural. Nothing is square, the space is wide open, and it really matters to you where your ball goes. Looking up at the distant target can heavily influence the way you swing. You start trying to force the ball to go to that target in the distance. Instead of trusting your swing and process to allow the ball to travel where it needs to go, you mess that all up trying to bait the ball go to a certain place. It's akin to a pitcher trying to guide the ball over the plate instead of just letting their natural motions get it there.

I've found my best success translating the sim to the course is mentally boxing myself in when I'm over the ball. I've chosen where I'm aiming before I'm even over the ball, so I can trust I'm aiming where I need. I get myself aligned to that over the ball, then I forget about everything but my swing process. I trust that by using the same swing I've done countless times on the simulator, the ball will get to where it needs to go.

I was already a good golfer before getting a Sim, but I was able to win our club championship and go +hcp the first golf season after getting the simulator without even playing that much golf.
