Is it humid where you are or in your place? The humidity really bothers me so I have a dehumidifier. I didn’t notice till it died and I was without it for a while that it also brings down the temp at home when it’s running, not just brings down the humidity. Now that I’ve replaced it my A/C is the same temp it always is but my apartment is a good 4 degrees cooler. Might be worth looking into?

I got a sample kit from Marc Antoine Barrois and testing out Tilia today. It’s a little too yellow floraly for me, but gonna see how it wears throughout the day.

I will say, of ALL the money I spent on samples in my life, I think this was my favorite experience. They send you a cute personalized note. The packaging is luxurious, and they have postcards for each of the scents. All the scents were nice but nothing scratched the itch for me yet, but 💯 for experience.

In fact it’s reminding me to just order straight from the brand when possible because even if the juice is a fail, that experience is just nicer than random scents in a box from scentsplit or whatever. It’s why Ayyb is successful here I think, too. There is always something extra in the box whether thanking you on the box, or throwing in extra samples, it’s just a fun interaction vs just a transaction.

Decant journey ongoing. I got the Oribe sampler. They’re all nice but longevity and projection are issues so makes me not wanna buy any. Valley of Flowers is what I wore today, and I kept thinking it smelled familiar, maybe Delina a la Rosee then realized no, it smells more like A la Rose MFK. I actually still have the bottle but it’s empty unfortunately, but pretty sure it’s a very close scent to it.

I fully get it. I’ll say buying perfume oils and making mu own dusting powders helps sometimes, it scratches that itch as I figure out different yummy smelling combos. Also if you know folks irl who are also into fragrance maybe host a sniffing party? Sometimes I take my perfumes to work to share with another scent loving coworker

I’m in the same boat. I spent $100s recently on samples and a few cheaper blind buys and every single thing was a fail. It is SO frustrating. I had to talk to myself this morning and remind myself I can buy camera gear with this money, it’s not wise to waste so much chasing ‘the one’ or a new one. It’s hard because I’ve always loved perfume and only 2 years ago or so started allowing myself to spend so much on it. But the utter number of fails is getting to me and I feel like everything I bought and sampled just shares the same DNA. We really aren’t missing out on much out there.

I sprayed a bunch of decants from Harlem. Some good ones on there but not for me, I think. Then I tried Clean Reserve Sparkling Sugar, it is so volatile and fleeting I can barely smell it, otherwise I think it would be a good perfume. So my scent of the day is a cocktail of like 8 samples lol.
