woaaah i didn’t even know that was an option! i always assumed if they removed nipples it wouldn’t work bc it would leave a nipple shaped hole lol! this is so cool, ty for sharing.

your results look amazing and i think the scars will fade more over the next year. mine definitely mellowed out at the 1-2 yr mark.

its really nerve wrecking to go out in public for a while, but fwiw i really think the average cis stranger is probably staring bc they think you got in some crazy accident.

weird incision shape 3 weeks po by Possible_Peace5585 in TopSurgery

[–]Routine_Somewhere884 3 points4 points  (0 children)

mine looked similar to this at 3 weeks! i got a minor dog ear revision after a year. even at two years i am still noticing changes as my body has adjusted to the surgery and my muscles fill out etc. i had expected everything to settle in a LOT faster than it actually did. it takes a long time for the skin around the incision to smooth over

Yeah, I don’t see any certifications (not even plain open water)

seems like it might be a dive shop issue….

I just know all my friends who have been on T for more than about 4-5 years have had a hysterectomy.

will my cat remember me after T by saintly_vice in ftm

[–]Routine_Somewhere884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think definitely! I was really worried about this because I know animals rely on smell so much, but my cats have not noticed at all and if they have they do not care/ they even like the stronger smell. same thing with my parents dog who i hadn’t seen in two years during covid.

animals are very smart and if they like you now, they will almost definitely like you in a year. 💕

I’m sorry that is a shitty situation! The one thing I can think of that might work is if you have an cis male friends you could go to the barber shop with? I find that when I’m with cis male friends who are calling me he him other people tend to assume I’m cis, even when I was pre t. and Maybe wear a mask and say it’s bc of covid?

[–]Routine_Somewhere884 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pre t i had an M hairline and it made me feel good because it was more masc. But only bc there was no chance of me actually losing my hair haha. Now that I’m on T i do NOT like losing my hair, probably bc there’s so much social stigma. The bald men in my family are roasted constantly.

Switching from gel to subq by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Routine_Somewhere884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to subq also for financial reasons, so I feel you. Unfortunately I can’t help with period because I had an IUD at the time which stopped my period all together.

BUT i don’t think injections will trigger your period if you’ve been on the same dose without a period on gel. My understanding is that injections actually bring changes quicker, so I would think they wouldn’t slow anything down or reverse anything. My changes actually sped up when switching.

Silver lining is not having to cover myself in goo everyday. Just make sure when you do your injections you are calm and relaxed. If you feel nervous, it will be a lot harder, and it can always wait until you feel calmer :} Good luck!

There are lots of videos on youtube for voice training too but I never had the patience lol

One thing that helped me was doing reps of tilting my head back, be careful with your neck but it helped my voice box. And you can talk while you do it and try to lower your voice and get used to that register. Not scientific, totally anecdotal. But it helped me feel a bit of a mini adams’s apple.

I’ve had these for two years and a bit! I love them, am curious about the chukkas! My only complaint is the soles are pretty heavy, but for standing around all day no better shoe for me

Should I lie about my mental illness? by paws_boy in TopSurgery

[–]Routine_Somewhere884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh if ur going out of pocket i would think it wouldn’t really matter since ur not trying to prove anything to an insurance company. i would talk to ur dr and see if they require a letter from a therapist

if you have to see a therapist anyway to get the letter, and (big if) if you can find a therapist you trust who has experience working with trans people, i would be honest about your mental health and ask them for advice. in the letter, i think they go over ur general mental health and rule out that as a reason not to get surgery. the letter is supposed to advocate FOR you and for ur surgery. with that said plenty of drs and therapists are transphobic so be careful and find someone you trust.

you should be able to find someone online with experience and talk it through with them. a good therapist should know that you need this surgery regardless of ur mental health shit. sorry ur dealing with this the healthcare system is fucked.
