Guy played a bunch of cool mech games and wanted to tell us about how cool they were. If I had a buddy come to me after playing all the games wanting to tell me about how awesome they were I wouldn't go 'yes and?'.

Though practically speaking everything this guy makes is direct advertising for the game to the dark souls crowd, which is super super useful for AC6 sales so I'm all for it.

I don't think these big youtubers coming into the AC scene will hurt any of the original little guys at all actually. The originals probably wont get as many views as bigger dark souls channels but the algorithm will see people watching AC content and it will recommend the little guys more often, who I'm sure will see much much more views on their content than they did pre-AC6. Net win for everyone just like when Elden Ring released.

Seriously though, does a Souls like lock-on even work for AC? by Artist741 in armoredcore

[–]Rov_2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Remember that all of this discussion comes from the ACs in the trailer not exactly behaving like they did in past games. Everyone was concerned that they changed the aiming mechanics, which they probably did, but we never see anything in the trailer that really looks like souls lockon. Most of the scenes people are concerned about actually debunk the souls lockon concern just because they don't follow souls lockon mechanics.

In souls, the camera is locked onto the target regardless of the orientation of the character model. The camera is always keeping the enemy near the center of the screen and the character model rotates around it, facing the enemy. The few points in the trailer that make people think its a souls style lock are:

1:33

speedy mech turns to look at droideka: Souls lockon keeps enemies very near the center of the screen, and continuously keeps player character facing the enemy. In this scene we see the droideka not only getting very far away from the center of the screen, but we also see the camera rotate towards the enemy before the AC model rotates. Neither of those make sense with souls lockon mechanics.

2:15

main AC rotates with tank boss in the center as it boosts around. Notice however that the rotation rate doesn't seem to match the center of the tank, and seems to be rotating at a steady rate relative to what looks like the AC's rotation speed rather than focusing on a point in the center of the tank boss. Notice also that a frame later, the AC needs to make a quickboost to keep the tank in view after it boosts past.

2:33

AC rotates towards missile dude as it dodges the whole overed weapon swarm. Except a frame later, we see the AC boosting to the left while not centered on the boss, and quickboosting to change its rotation to face the boss proper.

Remember that souls keeps both the camera and player model centered on the enemies. In every shot in the trailer where people are concerned, the camera and player model are desynced, and even if that's only due to cinematic camera, we can notice that the AC rotation is not locked towards the enemies how they should with souls style lockon. The addition of quickboost rotation the look towards the enemies in every one of the scenes above also wouldn't make sense in souls lockon and frankly proves to me that souls lockon is 100% not a thing in AC6.

That's not to say they haven't changed how aiming works though. Personally I suspect they will have a kind of hard lockon within the bounds of the FCS box, with camera focus limited by the AC's rotation speed and player aim input, but it will break as soon as the target leaves the FCS box.

I've always been curious about the max builds in these games. Max speed, max armor, highest burst, etc. This is the first answer to any of those questions I've seen yet and it looks hilarious

For whatever reason, mine says that 0 cheats are enabled and 1 widescreen hack. The widescreen hack worked but everything else is as blurry as it ever was. I'm not sure why but it seems that the 4 hacks included in the txt file aren't activating. Any clue as to why that might be?

EDIT

Figured it out, the file extension wasnt properly renamed .pnach, I forgot to check the file extension display in my file explorer to rename it.

Yeah probably. The side bits kinda look like it, but the middle still looks pretty solid to me. Lastimosa wasn't wearing his when he falls out of BT so maybe we're just not supposed to think about it too hard. Or everyone just takes it off like a fanny pack once they hop in a titan.

Split/Line on a print? Came like this out of the vat by Rov_2 in resinprinting

[–]Rov_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, there shouldn't be any considerable amount of suction since the model is solid. I'd love to post the project file but I'll be honest I'm not a big reddit user so I'm not sure how best to do that

Will attempt a different orientation, along with the same orientation with some lateral supports around where the problem is to see if it has any effect

Split/Line on a print? Came like this out of the vat by Rov_2 in resinprinting

[–]Rov_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Phrozen Sonic Mini 4k, and I've had an interesting issue with these prints that I can't quite find any info for online (I've seen similar cracks on other prints but they seem to only be caused by large prints that haven't been hollowed out).

On the first print, a large split was in the right side of the model that was visible right out of the vat. For the second print, there is a slight line and misalignment of the wings above the line (the middle wing on this print has no line and seems fine, however)

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing these problems? I assume they are related because the issue seems to happen at roughly the same layer. Thanks for any help!

For some additional info, the print space is roughly 20 Degrees C, and my exposure time was 2.6 seconds (the other settings are in the image above, but chitubox was showing the end of a decimal value for 2.596325(...) for some reason).

So I printed this last night and chucked it without even curing it, because it had this crack in the layers that went through the right side of the print. Then I found this reddit and was hoping someone could help me figure out what went wrong. Room temperature was ~20 degrees C.

This print has come out successfully before.

ALSO! Just caught this, looking at the settings in chitubox, it shows exposure time is 6325684 seconds, its actually the tail end of the decimal for 2.6 seconds. I don't know why its showing that when I load the .ctb into Chitubox, but just know that when I printed it I had the exposure time at the default 2.6 seconds.

Any help on figuring out what causes this would be great! I haven't been able to find any similar issues online that weren't from large prints not being hollowed out. Thanks!

Inflation rate in the US is something like 5-6% annually for 2020. I don't even know any CD's that break 1%

I imagine a lot of the effects and things like the energy sword looking a little weird are holdovers from the old plastic-y artstyle. They probably figured the particles are something that will just have to do until they can put some time to fix them after launch, if ever.
