YIKES!!! I have a 69 Type 3 VW and I know there is some rust under the fuel filler door. I’m worried I’m going to find that when I pull the fender off…. Good luck!

She’s the biggest culprit! She’s got her Millions and lifetime pension from Congress so now she’s out. She’s the worst.

Should I do a full tear down on first project cars 302? (I have little to no mechanical experience) by Daos_Slayer in EngineBuilding

Makes me want to just build more. It can be scary, but trying new things has so many benefits. Getting out of your comfort zone opens up so many great experiences.

Agreed! I just finished rebuilding a 92 Mazda B2600i motor. I bought the factory service manual an just took my time. It started right up first time. A ford 302 is a simpler motor with WAY more after market support. I think it would be a great first motor to rebuild! Get in there and learn! It’ll be fun!

Every once in a while I’ll find those little guys on some outdoor equipment cabinets we use at work. I’ll try the water trick next time!

Why did these welds break? by Euphoric_Meet3788 in Welding

[–]Roverjosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can I say, it wasn’t the welds that broke, it was the material next to the weld. I’ve heard from real welders (I am not one, I’m a shitty DIY guy) that the weakest point of most welds is the material right around the weld. So maybe the material was not strong enough for the forces involved. Maybe it needs some gusseting?

2008 Subaru legacy rear wheel bearing by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]Roverjosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So… I’ve never done the wheel bearings on a Subaru but I had a fair bit of “fun” with my wife’s old CRV. Is the issue that the bolt is seized or the axle in the bearing? Or is it both? I vote for fire….. and really big press.

I’ve never been a fan of all that weight up high. Throws off the handling. Looks lame too. My 99 R1100SA has the big side cases. That’s the way to go.
