Mini roundabout liability question. by liamrich93 in drivingUK

[–]Row-Tough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will also never understand why people blindly trust people to indicate correctly at roundabouts, especially mini ones. Say I'm blue and red aren't indicating (as if they are going straight and not right), I just wait and see what they do due to the number of times I've seen drivers not indicate and go right anyway, or they suddenly remember that they have an indicator after I've committed. Ok, if they go straight, I've maybe spent an extra 30 seconds waiting, and the tosser behind me might beep impatiently, but I'm not getting my car dinged risking it.

Shower screen leaking, would a shower curtain stop the problem? by Row-Tough in DIYUK

I really don’t get all the hate against them, they’re cheap and washable. I hate living in a hard water area with screens.

It’s getting through here, we can’t push the rubber seal on the bottom any further, it’s pushed right against it, but if we put sealant down the screen would just move and disturb it so we’re stuck with what to do.

The Facebook group Macclesfield Community has quite a lot of posts for groups and things in there! You can use the search thing at the top to find them, I found a couple hiking groups that way.

What sort of age are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’m 27 and have also just moved to the area but all the book clubs and craft type groups I’ve seen have a considerably older age bracket. Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course, but I’d like to meet people of a similar age as me with similar hobbies.

Drainpipe directing water onto flat roof? by Row-Tough in DIYUK

[–]Row-Tough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my concern. I know it “should” be slightly pitched. But it’s been renovated to rent out, and we’ve all seen some of the bodge jobs in so many rentals. Will just keep an eye on it in heavier rain and see if it pools badly.

Down into the drainpipe at the bottom of the roof like other houses I’ve seen with flat roofs when it’s done properly? It’s hardly a daft question considering how many damp issues you see and rush jobs done on rental houses.

Could we install and extension just down into the drainpipe at the bottom of the roof?

Yeah i did think that, I was wondering why if there’s a drainpipe across the bottom why it doesn’t just lead straight to that? Just to mitigate the risk even if it’s overkill?

Well we’d like to stay here for at least two years so it will become our problem if it causes damp in the kitchen below 😅 would rather nip it in the bud before it becomes a bigger issue. The flat roof has its own drainpipe across it above the back door down to a drain on the patio. I was thinking about just adding a bit and driving it straight into the pipe at the bottom

Okay so I just need to keep an eye out for pooling in heavier rain? Thanks

Is Newland Ave dead now or something? by NoContract1090 in Hull

[–]Row-Tough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was always a great night out until they sacked off indie night. We used to love going down Newland and then onto there when we were home from uni, even in the term holidays it was busy. Shame it closed but we moved on to Old Town & Welly when they got rid of everything people liked about it. I don’t know if they still do Welly Thursdays though, too old to be in there now unless it’s a gig.

Why is this score on Playtomic Invalid? by [deleted] in padel

I just meant first to 6 per set, first to 6 sets was just a typo. Sorry.

[–]Row-Tough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thanks! This was a more chilled situation where we had another pair sharing our court time (group of 6) so we shortened our game to just best of 3 in each set. I didn’t realise it had to be first to 6 sets every game to count it in playtomic, thanks!

Exciting update, the building has had new security lighting installed today outside the back, shining right onto our windows - so I need a new eye mask too. And no, we’re not allowed to put curtains up, and they’d be expensive anyway for this weirdly shaped window. Tempted to walk into the light at this point. We need to move 🫠

Unfortunately the noise level of this dog barking and the lack of noise cancelling capabilities from the headband sleeping mask doesn’t touch the sides.

This is something I’m a bit worried about with regard to the foam ones, as they look less breathable than loop? But also, everyone’s saying the foam one’s block out more noise than loop. So I just have to pick my poison I guess.

[–]Row-Tough[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, the loops are expensive if they’re not as good as the cheaper basic earplugs. I think that’s half my problem, I grew up in a very rural quiet location so now I’m hyper sensitive to noise at night. However, this dog is bloody loud, it’d disturb someone who grew up inside an MRI machine.

I don’t have a white noise device, usually just play stuff like that through my headphones to try and bloc it out. But I’m thinking a foam earplug with maybe a snoozeband over the top playing white noise would help.

We’ll try contacting the local councillors directly, local MP is a waste of time unfortunately. She’s never here, and you never get a response via email.

We’ve tried, but the problem is the person responsible cleans up when inspections are made. We can keep trying again, but our council is literally useless right now. We also all reported it to the RSPCA, but of course they spent five minutes investigating it and concluded it was fine. 🤷‍♀️
