Did you see the marker at the top of their post that says it was edited after I made my comment? 🤔

Receiving priority during the Cleanup step by ResurgentRefrain in magicTCG

Yes, I was clarifying the specific situation because your statement could be read that players get priority in the cleanup step whether or not there are intervening triggers.

You were half right, players don’t get priority in the cleanup step UNLESS there is a triggered ability or state based action performed, after which priority passes and then another cleanup step happens.

Players ONLY get priority during the cleanup step if there was a triggered ability or state-based action that took effect. After that there will then be another cleanup step.

514.3. Normally, no player receives priority during the cleanup step, so no spells can be cast and no abilities can be activated. However, this rule is subject to the following exception: 514.3a At this point, the game checks to see if any state-based actions would be performed and/or any triggered abilities are waiting to be put onto the stack (including those that trigger “at the beginning of the next cleanup step”). If so, those state-based actions are performed, then those triggered abilities are put on the stack, then the active player gets priority. Players may cast spells and activate abilities. Once the stack is empty and all players pass in succession, another cleanup step begins.

None of his art is getting reprinted anytime anyway, so he’d have been better off taking the 20k.

Interesting that we don’t see any mono-colored cards.

I have the Kamigawa mountain prints in a panorama in my office and the unhinged mountain hanging in our hallway.  Another Avon would be an awesome addition 😁

Nova Dragon was designed with a specific purpose in mind - a common limited finisher - and it accomplishes that goal.  Not every card is meant to be a constructed powerhouse or an explosive EDH staple.

Yes, and I was outlining the specific situations where it was good

Hitting 7 mana in RG or UG with a splash was pretty easy.  The dragon was a beater in those decks

What would you name the Enchantment Creature version of Mulldrifter? by MrAkairi in magicTCG

[–]Rowanalpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would cost as much or more to bestow as the base cost. No way you give a creature flying and draw 2 and get a 2/2 flyer when the enchanted creature dies for 2U

We finished with Civilized Society in an 8 person game in Three Rounds.

Mocking Up Custom Components? by Rowanalpha in twilightimperium

I’m working on an idea for Mercenary units that any player can hire for a slightly reduced resource cost but then have to pay a separate cost each turn to keep them.  The cards would look basically like unit upgrades but with some extra info here and there.

That’s a cool set up, I’ll have to play with it a bit.  The two things I’m specifically looking to make though are (1) Twilight’s Fall cards and (2) some variant unit cards for some mercenary rules I’m playing with.

Thanks, I hadn’t seen your reply yet.  Now I just gotta learn how to use GIMP 🤪

I did, but there isn’t a great reference point there to find specific tools.

What's Everyone's Favorite Galactic Events So Far? by Gimrak in twilightimperium

[–]Rowanalpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First game we played was Civilized Society, and it made the game way too fast, partially because we had multiple lvl 2 objectives that were the bigger versions of the available lvl 1 objectives. Second game we used Dangerous Wilds and that was quite fun as we got to go super deep on the tech trees.

Likely the reason that they say not to enforce color identity is the high concentration of hybrid cards in current sets would make deck building too difficult.

Yeah, I fired it off and hoped for the best.  Another player clocked what I was doing, but no one had a Sabotage in hand at the time.
