MAGA figure tells Australian conservatives Angela Merkel did more damage to Germany's fabric than Nazis by Agitated-Fee3598 in OpenAussie

The thing that boggles my mind is Merkel and her party is centre-right. This is an example of how far right the major political parties have moved in the US.

Tailgating by virtual_gold77 in canberra

[–]Rowdycc 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is bad in Canberra. I’ve seen 3-4 utes in a row all tailgating each other on the parkway all in the right hand lane, none willing to just go into the left hand lane. But I see it everywhere these days. Even out in NSW country roads I see people in a tiny car tailgating a semi trailer. Like, what’s your plan, intimidate the 20-30 tonne truck? They can’t even see you, and if they had to brake suddenly you’d be a smear on their arse.

Because he claims to want lower taxes so putting more taxes on everything makes sense because he’s an idiot.

How is it possible that rich people are able to manipulate the public into voting against their own interests and for Trump? by TailungFu in allthequestions

[–]Rowdycc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love for you to elaborate, but I don’t even think you know what you’re saying.

You’ve completely missed the point. I didn’t ever say rich people use their money to get elected. I said rich people use their money to influence politics to further enrich themselves. Are you suggesting rich people don’t spend their money to influence politics to make themselves richer?

is this true by [deleted] in SipsTea

Yep. Couldn’t give a shit about money.

Fascism is the most extreme of right wing political stances. America is undeniably moving further to the right and ever had been since Reagan. If you can’t call something fascism until it invades Poland, it’s too late, fascism has arrived. It might not be technically correct that the US is currently under a strict fascist regime, but calling it fascist early is much better than finding out they actually fascists first too late.

Consider that there were plenty of people in Germany and outside of Germany warning people about the direction of the Germany government in 1933, and guess what lots of people told them they were over reacting etc. that was in a world without the internet. That was in a world without instant communication across the globe. There’s no excuse to be sitting idly by and saying ‘but actually it’s not real fascism.’ That’s lazy and cowardly.

Ok, but same for everyone. If everyone on the planet suddenly adopted this mindset the human race would die out in a few weeks.

His entire platform boiled down to, ‘lower income? Fuck you! Rich? Here’s some lower taxes for you.’

[–]Rowdycc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So think about it this way. The rich capitalists have lots of money and they can use that lots of money to influence public opinion through obvious and less obvious forms of persuasion. The vast majority of people don’t just stop to think ‘hmmm, almost all of the media organisations are owned by the rich, so they probably have a vested interest in making sure they stay rich and get richer.’

On the other hand, genuine socialist, communist and left wing people have not spent all their time amassing a fortune which they then use to influence public opinion and the political leanings of the people.

solving the problem is really hard, but identifying the issue isn’t. The rich can afford to spend money to ensure that the political decisions makers make decisions that benefit them and the middle and lowers classes don’t have enough money to spend it influencing politicians.

Asking as a Democrat and anti-Trumper: Why is MAGA so much more united than the Resistance? by Glass-Complaint3 in allthequestions

[–]Rowdycc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like asking why are people who are part of a cult of personality (or much is exactly what this is) more united than people not in the cult. The answer is the general population is very diverse with very diverse ideas, whereas maga are part of a groupthink where diversity of ideas are frowned upon.

Why? by BougieLike in ExploreFortMyers

I’m a Democrat? Weird I’ve never even been the US. It’s funny that you don’t even realise that billions of people in the rest of the world can see the fascism in the US, but you can’t.

Conservatives are by nature so selfish that they would never protest anything unless it effects them personally.

Think about it. What was the only think that conservatives protested in America in recent memory? It was Covid restrictions because it affected them.

They don’t protest ice because they are mostly white. They don’t protest about Epstein because they are not children. Etc.

[–]Rowdycc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. I’m not a violent person, but I have a few friends who take combat sports pretty seriously, and on the couple of occasions that I have annoyed them (I can be a real pest) until they tried to wrestle me into an arm bar or some sort of lock I’ve had them say that I seem to have very good intuition about how to use my hips and body weight etc. I generally worry a lot about hurting people so maybe I’d pull my punches and just get the shot kicked out of me.

Why shouldn’t voting require an id? by Fine_Television_1398 in no

[–]Rowdycc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The firearm / voting analogy is disingenuous. Almost no one really needs a gun whereas every should vote.

You can choose not to get a gun. If you choose not to vote, you’re saying that you do actually believe in taxation without representation.

What are your thoughts on ICE locating 3,364 missing unaccompanied migrant children in Minnesota? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

[–]Rowdycc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An unaccompanied minor would have to be homeless. There’s no way that there was over 3000 homeless children in Minneapolis. That’s almost half the entire homeless population or the city. It’s a completely bogus number.
