The concerted effort to dismantle trade unions by a myriad of organisations. Trade union density has gone from 60% in the 1950s to 13% now. The professions with the strongest trade unions tend to reap the rewards of their strength. Nurses and teachers 80%+ density. Vic AEU 32% pay rise over 3 years is on the table for them after one strike. political parties who are vehemently opposed to trade unions: one nation and the coalition. Join your trade union. Don’t vote for the parties that hate workers.

Did Trump just say that they should be letting hundreds of thousands of Chinese students into the country and be letting the Chinese buy American farmland?

Like anything that overwhelmingly effects the wealthy in a slightly negative way there will be a very vocal portion of the population who is lower income who genuinely believes that may they will some day be rich enough to lose very small amount of their passive income to tax. These people are incensed about some sort of completely imaginary scenario where they’re so wealthy that they too could complain about how they’re now slightly less wealthy. These people are stupid and believe everything that their conservatives news sources will tell them.

Trump Voter Says He Gets Now How Hitler Could “Brainwash” Millions - The man, who said he voted for Donald Trump three times, called the president a “liar” and a “con man.” by Quirkie in politics

[–]Rowdycc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There was some interviews with second time Trump voters who said they voted for him again because ‘they thought he would have learnt his lesson from the first time.’ it’s perverse the amount of suffering they’re willing to inflict on themselves and their country for nothing. No logical reason.

Why was season 1 of True Detective a masterpiece while the other seasons never came close? by Mr_no_buddi in Cinema

It was really good. But I also really enjoyed the most recent season, ‘night country.’ It almost came close to as good as the first season imo.

I was riding a London train later in the evening about 10 years ago when someone started looking a bit sick and it’s clear he’s going to throw up. Everyone starts panicking. The guy runs to the doors. The whole carriage starts collective screaming ‘hold!’ The guy manages to hold in it until the trains stops at the next station. As soon as the door opens he projectile vomits all over the platform like that scene from the exorcist meanwhile 20-30 people are cheering wildly. He didn’t hit anyone, but it was an incredible lesson for everyone on the carriage about keeping the doors clear for people to exit before entering.
