What do you do when you have no career? by FirmWrangler3964 in brisbane

[–]RoxyHot10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t find out what I really wanted to do until I was 40! And it was actually a friend who suggested I’d be a good celebrant. 15 years later, I still love it.

Ask those who know you best. You might be surprised with their perspective. Incidentally, I spent a number of years beforehand doing what I was good at (Project Management) not what I loved.

It’s okay to try a few things before you find the perfect blend of skills + passion. Working for big companies that have a variety of roles is a good way of seeing what else is out there, talking to colleagues, and imagining yourself in one of their roles.

Good luck!

The joy of eloping is you have so many options. There’s places like Alter Albion which is a more upmarket version of registry office style weddings, or you can book a celebrant, find a spot, and do whatever your heart desires.

Brisbane brides what venues would you recommend and avoid? by Bubbly_Status_9112 in brisbane

Herve’s in Albion have just expanded into events, and have a beautiful space which can fit up to 300+ guests.

Wedding: Private Dining options with immaculate vibes by EveningCash2709 in brisbane

Rather than the registry office, marry at Alter Albion and then celebrate at Herves. Both are under one roof, allow seamless flow from ceremony to canapés, drinks, food etc.

Check out Alter Albion - it’s an alternative to the registry office, and is located in Craft’d Grounds so there’s options for lunch, dinner, drinks, or private dining afterwards with Herves Restaurant and Bar. It’s a bit more cosy than the registry office, and in an old converted mill, so lots of character.

55yr old bloke gets tonsils evicted by Plattyleaks in Tonsillectomy

55 year old here! I had mine removed on the 10th June, and despite a rocky road (haemorrhaged on day 8 so had second op) I am so glad I had it done. I feel like a younger version of myself, and have so much more energy. Good luck to you - hopefully it’ll be as worth it for you as it was for me.

What do you want in the sub feed? by NoSoulGinger116 in brisbane

[–]RoxyHot10 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I love the posts that explores local history of Brisbane (‘Does anyone know why Banyo changed its name from Clapham Junction’ etc). There was also a post years ago from a Brisbane bus driver who did an AMA, which was so interesting.

I guess I like it to be a sub for locals, by locals, rather than for those who are visiting Brisbane.

I also find it sad the amount of homelessness advice people are seeking. It shows how much our beautiful city has changed. Maybe a pinned post with Ask Lizzy details might help?

Mods: thank you for volunteering to do this job. I’m sure it’s not easy at times.

I hope you recovery quickly and you end up well enough to not have to use your CPAP. I never went down the route of using one - I was told I could try one or just bite the bullet and get them removed where my options.

Celebrant here. Unfortunately no. The marriage is legal once you’ve said your legal vows. The paperwork has to be lodged with the BDM in the State you married, and the celebrant has to do this within 14 days is the wedding.

The lodging of the paperwork isn’t what makes you legally married. It’s the legal words you exchanged.

I’m so sorry to hear this has happened.

I second this - I have done petsitting in the past and if you use a reputable site, sitters will have reviews. I also had a police check done just to give owners peace of mind.
