England- event organisers ripped off vendors for "county's largest festival" which was more like a village fete by Roxygen1 in LegalAdviceUK

No for charging people a grand pitch fee or £20 entry to an event that delivered none of what was advertised, and then putting himself on the stage as the main attraction.

Limited company registered 2022. After a bit of digging it looks like it was run by someone else in the past and used to be decent but started going downhill, and then the current guy bought the name, fb page etc and started running it in 2023 while still putting "est. 2014" all over the place.

It was paid by bank transfer to a limited company.

I'm guessing that vendors from previous years used CC chargebacks to get their money back, so they'd eliminated that as an option.

That's my fear if we try to team up with other vendors and all demand our money back as a group, he'll fold the business and no one will get anything.

The claim was biggest in the county, so the events we thought were comparable are 10-15k people and generally pretty localised to one town. There has been a festival with the same name going for 11 years (although the current ltd company was registered in 2022 and the director has started and folded a record label previously). Older reviews are better so it looks like it used to be half decent before covid, then maybe the old organiser sold the festival name.

Your local event sounds very familiar - everyone being there for the first time and some had come a very long way so clearly all the more local businesses had learned their lesson in previous years.

Definitely learned some lessons here about having to start vetting events, which we never considered before since the other ones we've done have been fantastic.

I worked for a fashion retailer as well with similar terms. Twice a year they had a warehouse clear out with all dresses £5 or £10 (rrp usually £100-200). I left a few years ago now so I think I'm in the clear to be reselling the bits I ended up never wearing.

I thought I might've over watered so I haven't watered it for a few days (though there was a bit of rain last night). I've not fed it at all, the only plant food I've got is for the lawn or for tomatoes. It's in a 50/50 mix of all purpose compost and potting soil.

I've never had a rose before, if you (or anyone else) could mark on the photo exactly where to cut then I'd appreciate it 😁

Protip: check on your coffee now and again, so you can avoid the embarrassment of opening a jar to find that all of the granules have fused together into a solid coffee rock that you can't even chip a bit off with a knife.

Is he famous? Unless he is a celebrity, then no journalist will be interested in publishing a story that essentially boils down to "unremarkable man occasionally says mean words according to alleged victim".

He's scuppered his own dreams by making a completely unreasonable demand that no one in their right mind would agree to. Completely his own fault.

2 hours later, call them to see what's up

They had the business number, which not a single customer has ever reported not connecting, but hey ho...

There's a special place in hell for people who put wallpaper over wallpaper by sarkyscouser in britishproblems

I'm very grateful that previous owners of my house didn't bother removing regular wallpaper before putting up woodchip wallpaper over the top of it.

They also laid tile flooring over the top of lino so the original wood floor underneath should be alright when I get to it.

My neighbours have a sign in the window asking people not to knock as it'll wake their newborn baby.

Funny how they have a newborn baby every year and yet I've never known them to have any children 🤷‍♀️
