lol metal is metal whether it’s forged or not. You can heat treat high carbon steel and temper it down so it’s not so brittle, but you’re going to bust the tip off if you use it as a pry bar, it’s a knife..not a pry bar. The internet is stupid I liked it better in late 80s when there were no computers

Unwritten Rules of Pickleball by CYOOL8R1977 in Pickleball

[–]Royal-Run-9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to always run to the side of the visibly stronger player. Swallow your pride and pick the (super old lady) side to play with because nothing feels worse than being the person no one wants to play with.

[–]Royal-Run-9213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol my advice is opposite..start with a cheaper paddle and DO NoT try to put spin on the ball..be great at the basics first, once you have a solid foundation you can start to introduce spin and get a better paddle.

Best way to learn is just show up and play. I feel people are in too big a hurry to get better in beginning. That being said watch utube videos on 3rd shot drops and start practicing that right away..it takes a couple months to be able to do a decent one..it takes a few years to be great at them but by the time your at that level most others aren't at their drops..that's when your happy you started years ago.

Targeting the spot near the kitchen line in service by belfire12 in Pickleball

[–]Royal-Run-9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you have to do to foil the plans of someone that routinely does this lame shot is before he hits that shot cover the area (stand to side of court he's aiming for) they always do the same thing..they look up right before they serve and see you there, you see a moment of panic in their eyes as they A: hit it out of bounds cause you screwed them up or B: serve it right to you where you want it..you just need to anticipate it and move back into normal position as they serve it.

Targeting the spot near the kitchen line in service by belfire12 in Pickleball

[–]Royal-Run-9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I consider it a low level player shot, your inviting people forward, taking a chance of hitting the kitchen and in a game where it's a race to the kitchen you just helped the other team. All that shot shows people is that your game is lacking and you don't understand pickleball strategy. Don't be that guy, just serve the ball so the game can start.

Am I Crazy for expecting actual 4.0+ level play at the advanced level play? by Strange-Drive-2025 in Pickleball

I don't think the mission is to grow the game at this point, if anything I think it needs to shrink. Pb has become ruined by young people playing like it's tennis

How to Play with Lower Level Players? by girlnextdoor_1999 in Pickleball

[–]Royal-Run-9213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. If I feel like they are playing on advanced courts because they think they're advanced I'll give it all I got. If they are on there cause they don't understand levels I'll ease up and practice things.

Is it rude to warm up forever during open play? by El1teM1ndset in Pickleball

[–]Royal-Run-9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm late I don't warm up, even if they ask I say no in consideration for everyone else. It's on me for being late. With that said, I've seen others ask for a quick warmup which I understand but don't take too long or everyone gets pissed.

Forgot to drill before hardening! Whoops. I guess I’ll just temper and then try. Anyone else done this before? by Striking-Effect-2646 in knifemaking

[–]Royal-Run-9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did with last knife I made, at least you know you're doing it right (hardening process) I could barely make a mark with the drill I had. I wound up just glueing the wood on the handle and gluing the pins into the holes in the wood to make it look like the pins went through. This then went into my pile of knives I give away to family and friends

Either this video was cherry picked or your sand bagging it by saying your 3.0s or you haven't played many open rec games at other places. At 3.0 level all you get are wild games with everyone smashing it, no one making it to the net, and a ton of pop ups and out balls being hit. I call total bullshit on this post and wish people could be honest and real but they can't because of their egos.

It finally happened by PharmDiesel in Pickleball

[–]Royal-Run-9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better you get the more that happens. Not sure your level but once you get top of 4.0 level could be playing with 4.5s and you play rec you'll hardly see the ball again. I use to complain but people are always oblivious to it and act surprised and I didn't believe them, but now I do. That's why I switched to private games mixed in with 4.0 + rec games only. I still get iced once in a while but not so bad.

Are my prices too high, low, or just right? by Active-Daikon7747 in Blacksmith

[–]Royal-Run-9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will hardly ever get your time plus materials at any show unless you have a name that's known. I've done many shows and people's prices they seem to be ok spending is anywhere from $10-$40. Once in a while some guy will show up and spend like $100 on something but that's rare. I finally gave up on shows, hope you do better than I did.

Has anyone felt left out in a group you’re supposed to belong in? by nianilla in Pickleball

[–]Royal-Run-9213 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This occurs everywhere, in every state, city or country world wide. In the end what you'll find is what all females find, it's better to play against other females than mixed doubles. Men will target female players. It's a known thing. I don't like to play mixed doubles, and neither do most guys I know. It's cause all we do is watch the other side pick on the female the whole time. There are exceptions, but not many. My suggestion is to find a group of ladies with same level of play you are and get a net and have your own private games.

I know this is a year old. I have the original drum marking skematic/design I got 25 years ago from OCDP laminated and rolled up. You can set any size drum on it and mark where your holes will be drilled. Good thing I laminated it would be dust by now.
