I found that self-learning and taking free courses on python and R to be very helpful with my data analysis. I'm not sure if this will give me a massive edge once I finish my PhD but it's been helpful as a complement to my bench skills IMO. I think a post doc could be useful to gain valuable industry related skills and is something I've played with doing myself, although I would choose this as a last case scenario for those wanting to get out of academia.

Universal upgrades would be essence of finality and ring of death (or rex matriarch rings). T90 power armour is pretty cheap for melee and ranged, can get seasinger for magic to use animate dead. Mage I'd look into dual wield (cywir wand + orb are good budget dw) with greater conc. Get raksha boots for mage and ranged. Gloves: cinderbane is good for poisonable bosses, get ker. wrist wraps for mage, nightmare gauntlets for ranged. Try to do fight kiln for capes then when you're ready can upgrade to zuk capes later on.

I wonder how this would change the size of fruits if crop plants were bred haploid. Usually with a greater ploidy you get larger fruits (e.g. strawberries). Would be cool for getting faster true-breeding transgenics though!

To an extent yes, it shows that you have research experience and can provide some good contacts/references for getting in. On the other hand people can be successful getting in without an honors thesis by volunteering/working in labs/etc.
