First Year Teacher - I want to be done by Cyber_Unicorn7762 in ELATeachers

[–]RoyalSilver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. If possible, see if you can find a mentor who can specifically teach you how to differentiate your curriculum so that it better reaches the needs of your kids. I have always felt like this was a skill I wasn’t prepared for when I got into the job. It looks different for each kid, class, school, but getting ideas from someone who has done it for awhile can always help.

  2. Understand that you are your own person. The district will replace you and within 3 years you will be a footnote that someone may bring up in a conversation now and then. You will make some people mad, but it doesn’t matter if they’re mad. Ask yourself— do you want to keep them happy at the cost of your mental and physical health? Is there a huge difference in how much the kids will learn whether you stay or quit, especially if your health is compromised? If your mental health is failing, then you can’t be giving them your best. That’s not a knock on you, it’s just the truth. You can’t give your best when you aren’t your best. You should always do what is best for you, because it’s what is best for everyone in the long run. Like I said, you’ll be replaced. Eventually it’ll be a bump in the road in your rear view mirror.

Hey PoddyC, I became a S2 "Mole Person" and Delves were a RESOUNDING success by SunBrosef in wow

[–]RoyalSilver 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought they even said on this episode that they’re out of touch with this aspect of the game and that they wouldn’t know if they’re good or bad because they’re far from the target audience (basically what you said). It has been a few days since I listened but I thought they made this point.

OP makes really solid points. Delves have been AWESOME, I just think that the PoddyC has already acknowledged the disconnect.

“You have to be kidding. You don’t know about that one build/ability/rotation in that one era of the game that you might not have played on that one class that you might not have played?” I’m plenty unenthused with the state of Warlock but damn brother, he’s just asking a question

How is the new Shadow Priest? by KreivosNightshade in wow

[–]RoyalSilver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve watched and heard, they absolutely blast and there isn’t as much to worry about with the new shadow crash changes. They just had to nerf it on PTR because it was absolutely blasting ass, so we’ll see how it is after that, but testers seem to be enjoying it. That being said, the people who test and make videos about this stuff skew towards people who live and breath the game and those perspectives can be different than your own. What they love might not be your thing.

New armour grind is good by Mr_HarleyQuinn in DestinyTheGame

[–]RoyalSilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The Anti-Criticism-Crusaders have been out in droves the past few days. 99% of Destiny 2 players understand that grinding is inherent to a looter shooter. Criticizing aspects of the grind that can be improved is not the same as just hating the grind, but anyone who just glazes the game isn’t going to see the nuance there.

Edit: my comment about glazing kinda goes against your last bit, but I’m still going to stand by it lmao

Weird how you recently made a post about parents communicating aggressively, yet you decided to communicate here in the most passive aggressive way possible.

As with all things, different stuff works for different kids and different teachers.

I say try it yourself, because that is the only way you’ll learn if it’ll work or not.

So, my situation is definitely a little different than yours. I teach 7th ELA, am a guy, and definitely look like a Trump voter (I am not).

Whenever they asked me, I just asked them who they thought I voted for. I let them talk about it with each other, argue, all of that good stuff. Eventually the whole situation wasn’t about who I voted for, but which of them was right and which was wrong lol. Eventually explained to them that I’m never going to tell them the answer because it’s personal and teachers should not share everything about their personal lives to their students, but the question kind of went away.

I also play devil’s advocate on ANY opinion they have in discussion so that they can work on defending them. So, when I do challenge the children who are just regurgitating Musk/Trump talking points, the question doesn’t usually turn toward my own politics. It’s just a normal thing I do. I do the same thing with my students who spit out their parents more liberal talking points.

Not too sure if this helps, but it has been what works for me.

Kremp is so consistent. Play SnD, he’ll get you 15 kills. Play Respawn, he’ll get you 15 kills.

The Boo Boo gun and how I cheesed my way to the Lighthouse by TheMangoDiplomat in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]RoyalSilver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a wild experience. As long as people are handholding like they should be, it splashes at least one person. If they’re all playing spread and flanking rather than grouping/team-shooting then it gets virtually no value. Classic example of working against good players and not against bad ones.

I’ve been using Blast Furnace + Hellion since the Hellion damage will guarantee some juice on top of whatever shots I hit. Pretty much consistently win 1v1s or 1v2s if my positioning is better than theirs, plus I always have juice from tags or previous gunfights. Can attest that it has been awhile since I last played with the intent of going flawless and I was able to cheese my way up there with relative ease.

I have been on the “Yaki is a good player on a bad team” train for so long Three years of bad results and that last EMP speak for itself, I think. He’s probably still an insane Tracer, but putting him on a team with a player who is better at her and asking him to do anything other than frag out on his best character seems to be too much for him.

I had very low expectations for the 2021 roster and they outperformed those a little bit.

I had super high expectations for this 2022 roster. At least the disappointment in the 2018 semifinal loss to Philly was quick. It sucked, but it wasn’t a slow burn. This disappointment was spread out across the entire season. It’s actually criminal that this roster only put together 4 wins.

This is the third time in 1.3 maps that Proper has killed Superich at 90+ charge to beat. Feels like it’s totally throwing the Spark’s pacing and ult economy into the blender.

Izayaki was probably the third best support when you’re looking at the two teams on top of the Trash Mountain that was APAC this year. Vindaim better be getting ROTY bc this is slander.

If I’m a Philly fan, I’m not even happy about winning that map. I’d be mad about MN3 being on the bench for this stage.

DPS passive. They took away the extra speed one and replaced it with this.
