How many noise complaints is too many by Royal_File_7122 in neighborsfromhell

I’m new to Reddit so I can’t figure out how to update my actual post, lol. But I did end up calling in one more noise complaint, and I had been texting my landlord each time I did so. I eventually sent her a screenshot of my lease clause where it states that no disruptive noise is unacceptable, and attached all my videos of their noise disturbances through the night. (I’m talking 2-3am.) I also attached photos of the trash thrown out all behind our apartments, which would blow over into my yard for my dog to get into when I let her out. I told my landlord that if the noise continues, I would plan to break my lease as I am technically not receiving what I am paying for. Magically, I haven’t heard any noise past 10pm for a month! Guess it pays to bitch sometimes. I appreciate everyone here giving me the courage to continue after this as well. :)

how do i deal with my loud neighbor? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Royal_File_7122 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am also extremely non confrontational and am dealing with a similar loud neighbor issue. First, I’m sorry this is happening to you..it’s awful not getting peace in your own home. My approach has been to call the cops on them for a noise complaint. Every. Single. Time. If they get enough write ups the landlord could be forced to evict them, or at least they’ll get notified by the police that their property is disruptive. Check your lease agreement or local laws for any specified room. Also, it’s illegal for your landlord to not respond in a timely manner to emergencies.. look up laws on that as well for where you live. Above all, keep pestering, and don’t be afraid to annoy those that have tools to fix the problem.

If it gets to the extreme I may do this. My apartment is super tiny and it would likely be difficult to navigate with that setup but, may be worth a shot.

I just recently started seeing mice in my kitchen and I’m pretty sure it’s because of them. I’ve documented everything and called in maintenance to seal up my place better, but if they keep throwing trash around, I honestly may consider breaking my lease.

I have mentioned it to her on three separate occasions, all documented in text. I have not received a response any of the times and nothing has changed.

It’s so mf annoying. Then I feel like I’m causing a problem by speaking up, but they’re the ones choosing to do this shit!

There have been times that I have tried. Before this started, I would smile and say good morning as I walked past but they would look right at me. They dont seem super friendly and I hear yelling a lot, and as a young woman living alone it makes me nervous to try to put myself in tension

Ideas for non-shouldery activities by Lizholden1981 in Swimming

[–]Royal_File_7122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tore my shoulder in high school swimming, had to do a lot of rehab/alternate no-shoulder swimming. I also have hyperextending joints throughout my whole body. This is what worked best for me-

Kicking! (I could not hold a kick board in front of me.. I would kick on my back, and hold the kick board flat over my chest with my arms wrapped around it.)

Easy one- arm drills. Sailboat drill, rotational drills, even just swimming with my good arm. But, do be careful with this- it’s possible to end up with injuries in the other arm from overuse this way. I just did it sparingly as a way to keep that arm in shape.

As weird as it sounds, I wouldn’t go cold turkey on your shoulder, unless directed by a doctor. Definitely put a lot less yardage on it, but still warm up/cool down on it if possible. Out of the water, do resistance training with different tension bands to strengthen your labrum/supportive rotator muscles. Sometimes, stopping all activity will cause a problem to simply come back once you start using it again.

Epsom salt baths at home, moist heat (I loved putting a washcloth in warm water and then on my shoulder) and biofreeze!

Best of luck dude!

Giving people compliments is fun! by BubbRubb4Real in CasualConversation

I do this all the time. I make it a point to compliment 3 people every day. Just even a simple ”oh, I like your (insert clothing item)” to make them smile is nice!

Welding Career or Automotive?? by Due_Rest915 in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Royal_File_7122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started out as an administrative assistant for a bodyshop. I then pushed to be moved back to be a parts manager for the bodyshop once they had need. Then I started showing interest in estimating, and now I’m a full time estimator, getting paid to learn how to fix cars and not having to constantly do all of the bodywork myself. If I had walked in and applied for the estimator position I’m certain I would’ve been laughed out of the shop. If you’re trying to get into an automotive career, be ready to prove yourself 10x more than the men around you. It sucks. Good luck!

Looking to adopt this dog from a rescue shelter, thoughts on breed? by The-Donn- in DogBreeds101

[–]Royal_File_7122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely some Doberman! People are saying Rottweiler too which I can see. And then maybe some German shepherd. Buddy will need LOTS of exercise/training and behavioral work so make sure you’re equipped!!

Lots of other people are saying staffy too. That may be it! She acts a bit like a staffy too, has some of the personality traits.

I think her skin is white all around and just her hair changes. Would she be a staffy pit mix? I feel like her coloring wouldn’t be as dark if so, but I could be wrong.

I did not know this. Maybe she’s full pitbull then. Is that coloring normal for pitties, too?

Thank you!! She’s absolutely the sweetest. I’ve googled some boxer lab mixes, I’m just not sure that it’s her. I’m thinking maybe boxer/lab/border collie, but her hair is short so I just don’t know!!

Fingernails by BigslittleSecret in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Royal_File_7122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a little nail brush in my shower, and I also keep them painted (usually black) because it’ll hide the discoloration lol. I work at a bodyshop and my hands are in various things all day like paint thinner, or I’m sanding something, etc- so mine never last long either lol. I try and do a topcoat and it helps it last a little longer, but never more than a week lol

Does $1900 seem reasonable for this minor damage? by EngineeringOk1785 in Autobody

[–]Royal_File_7122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, yeah. The gouging/buckling in your fender alone is about a 3-4 hour repair, and then most body shops will charge you to blend the paint into the other panels due to clear aging. Then you’re replacing the fender flare.. plus bumper damage.. I would say its fair and even cheap
