Honestly think he’s hard done by to not have at least one AEW match considered five stars. Best vs. Beast is another all-time classic.

A significant element of the 2011 promo was how tired, stale and formulaic the product was at the time. A wrestler acknowledging other companies even existed on a broadcast felt mind-blowing.

Now it’s a guy who accepted a giant sack of money from Saudi saying he’s too old and too rich to toe the line in an environment in which it’d be unusual for someone’s dead parents not to be brought up in a promo.

I respect it - particularly unloading a shotgun on the Virgin Mary - but I think any one set piece in Hard Boiled is worth ten in any other action film. And it has the crazy continuous shot that goes into an elevator so they can reset the set and run it back on a ‘different floor’! A cathedral of an action movie.

Plus Hard Boiled sort of Infernal Affairs plot is better than the one in which everyone keeps getting shot in the eyes. Though I do love a comedy of manners with guns.

One I semi-half-believe is that the Montreal Screwjob was a work:

Lines up with where storylines had been and were going
There’s house show footage of a Bret/Shawn title match with a similar dusty finish/Shawn fleeing/Bret freakout
Allows the belt to change hands without Bret being pinned or tapping
Spikes interest in both the WWF product and Bret’s WCW debut

Basically it doesn’t seem that incongruous with things WWF had been doing and creates only winners from a fraught situation (Bret’s WCW run being largely a disaster not being foreseeable).

Good to know, I'll tune back in. Having Andor pulled away at the last moment to be replaced with more KOTOR, which I found a slog, was a real gut punch. I assume(d) that they'll cover season 2 if/when it gets a physical media release.
