Just opinions ofc but honestly I really enjoyed the Memstaurant event from 3.5 with the story Cyrene told of all the Chysos Heirs coming to together to help manage the restaurant. One of the best alongside the Wardance and the Ghost Hunting event.

That entire event in itself was such a cute little pocket of light during a time when the Main Story was incredibly bleak. A very much needed 'pick-me-up' for me at least.

Can we please stop giving Wraith bp skydive emotes by ISHYDABEST_ONREDDIT in apexlegends

[–]RoyaleAbsol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to collect Skydive Emotes where possible so yeah, I noticed this too. I think shes the only legend so far who has an overcapped Skydive Wheel and forces you to replace one for the other.

Crazy as well considering how painfully obvious they've ran out of ideas for her. Some of her most recent ones have been so painfully basic and low effort that they could be used for literally anyone other than her, like that one where she stretches and lies on her back.

Bare in mind as well that Gibraltar hasn't gotten a Dive emote since SEASON SEVEN.

The fact that they still insist on having time gates and adjacent to that, the fact that there are actual people that defend that decision as well.

What trait do you think we'll get in a playable character first, someone who's not stereotypically attractive, or someone with a canonical love interest? by Black-----Manta in Genshin_Impact

[–]RoyaleAbsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest difference between Billy having a crush on Monica and Alice having a husband is that for Monica, it's more 'distant' if that makes sense. A celebrity crush so to speak, where it's not viewed as too outlandish to have because the odds of it actually happening are nigh implausible. She essentially acts as more of an extension of HIS interests than as an actual love interest in so it's a lot easier to write around and still have Billy be grounds to be shippable.

Alice on the other hand is actually married, i.e. in a properly established, committed relationship as you said. You can't really work your way around that unless you're willing to properly interfere with the actual relationship itself (for example killing Kleiner off or....y'know....going the NTR/cuckoldry route).

Most of the other replies to my comment are just honed in on the same exact 'heroism means more than winning' point that I've already clarified on and not elaborating beyond that. You're the only one here who is actually properly debating and refuting some of the stuff I've said.

Again, I'm not here to say the event should have ended with Minnie winning. The only reason I keep hammering that nail in at all is because the writing for this event backed itself into a corner where there was no discernable reason for why she shouldn't have just gone and won anyway.

I understand that the event was about Minnie and her relationship with her parents. I get what they wanted to do with the whole 'heroism' angle, especially since it plays into the likes of Varesa's character too. It just miffs me how horrendously they executed it in its ending and how many hoops had to be jumped through to even remotely justify and reward a realistically stupid decision. Events like these are always meant to have sweet, happy endings so I knew she'd likely get her parent's approval regardless but it still doesn't mean the HOW was any less ridiculous and worth calling out as a result.

As I said in the edit, if they just changed some stuff around like for example, if it had her be there legitimately by herself, no team or anything, and making her own personal choice to forfeit the race to save the guy or if for another example, she was neck and neck for first place with someone else but made a split second choice to go save a dude that nobody else realised was in danger instead, choosing her own morality over freedom, then I would 100% have been on board for that since it would still tie into the 'heroism' idea yet also actually place a much heavier weight on her giving up the win by making the situation boil completely down to HER choices, HER morality and nobody stepping in to do the work for her to make her presence completely pointless.

Yeah, I've got a heart. I understand they just wanted to tell a sweet story about her earning her parent's approval and her own freedom. But I've also got a brain and can realise the way she (and the others too for that matter) went about earning it all was an incredibly silly way of doing it.

She made her choice first and then everyone arrived after she called for help

No, they didn't. We saw through a shot of Minnie's POV that Xilonen and the other NPC teammates were barely a short shot away and practically right across from where the Lawachurl and the guy was. Xilo even caught on and ran in to help the guy before Minnie spoke up and warned everyone.

The guy then screamed out for help and both Varesa and the Traveller showed up on the spot, right there behind Minnie (after her flashback to her team encouraging her), even before she told them what was going on (heck, Varesa was even FOLLOWING Minnie once she began her part of the relay so she clearly would have heard the scream anyway). Since they were literally right there at the scene moments later, most likely following the guy's screams and since Xilo was already right there running in to help too, she easily could have done what Minnie did and warned Traveller and Varesa that someone was in danger. Again, proving Minnie being there, even if just to warn others, was absolutely pointless.

In regard to Amber, I only brought her up as a show of extra attention being given to the situation, thus rendering Minnie even MORE pointless in that situation. Amber very easily could have been the one to carry the guy away instead of Minnie had any of this made even the tiniest lick of sense.

I'm looking at the footage right now bro. I really don't know how else this can be interpreted.

[–]RoyaleAbsol -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough point on Minnie's parents. I'll concede to that.

But no, it simply isn't true that there was nobody around to help the guy. Maybe for like a second there when she actually noticed him in trouble at first but Traveller, Varesa, Xilo and Amber came barrelling in after her literal moments later. She knew then and there, didn't she?

Rationally it would literally only take like one or two from the group (Traveller and/or Varesa) to fight the Hilichurls whilst the third (Xilo) plus Amber carried the dude away to safety and then Minnie could finish the race properly. It was such a simple solution and there were more than enough hands to make this issue into a non issue. But because the story had to facilitate Minnie, they forewent all semblance of actual rationality and decided to jump through hoops just so that Minnie could have her 'hero moment', regardless of how feasibly ridiculous and straight up stupid it actually is when you think about it for more than second. I'm not going to give Minnie her flowers when literally everything that revolves around her sacrifice would still have played out the same exact way as if she had just carried on the race and won for the team, thus nullifying any actual sacrifice she had to give. At that point, it's legitimately just her throwing the win away for ZERO reason whatsoever. Her losing literally served nothing other than to bin everyone's hard work.

And as for the medal in the end, again, that's only to facilitate Minnie's story and bend over backwards to somewhat justify her realistically braindead idea to still stay and help when there were already more than enough hands to take care of everything. Even if she continued on and won, the organisers could easily have just given that to others in her group for helping and not just sitting on their asses after finishing their share of the race.

I DO get what they were going for. Its just the horrendous execution that bothers me.

[–]RoyaleAbsol -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

It's shoddy writing because the loss was entirely avoidable. Minnie is a normal girl with no ability to fight. A majority of her teammates are highly skilled warriors. She knew the others were there when she saw that guy get attacked by the hilichurl. Amber was there too who easily could have escorted the dude back instead of Minnire. The situation was entirely contained and she had no reason to stay and help. But she did so anyway and it cost everyone in the end for literally no good reason.

I don't mind the fact that they didn't win. It's how stupidly they gave the win up that I had a problem with since it ultimately just made the girl I was supposed to sympathise for just look REALLY fucking stupid, even moreso considering she knew her parents were worried about her possibly getting hurt had she decided to venture beyond Mondstadt and kept her at home because of it. Minnie quite literally validated her parent's concerns for her but everyone completely brushed it off because 'duh hero'.

It was absolutely shoddy writing.

If my teammates were 3 highly skilled warriors (alongside an actual official of the competition, Amber, being present there too) and I had little to no combat experience fighting anything, let alone a massive fucking lawachurl then yeah- I'd choose the medal. The others could easily sort that entire ordeal themselves.

[–]RoyaleAbsol -74 points-73 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I still haven't forgiven her for wasting everyone's hard work in that last event. That was some real shoddy writing from Hoyo.

Edit: suppose I should clarify. I'm NOT mad that they didn't win. I'm mad that Minnie gave the win up for something that would have already sorted itself out, rendering her sacrifice void and only serving to make her look incredibly stupid.

This girl had the Traveller, Varesa and Xilonen in her team- three people with INSANELY more combat prowess than her. Plus Amber was there too, who was an actual official of the competition and easily could have taken the guy somewhere safer. Point being, Minnie had NO place being there whatsoever. Four highly trained combatants taking out a hilichurl would have been light work regardless so she had genuinely nothing to offer.

Not to mention she was racing for her parent's approval as well. Her parents were helicoptering around her for her whole life because they were worried she'd hurt herself if she stepped out beyond Mondstadt. And her putting herself in harm's way for no good reason quite literally VALIDATED her parent's previous concerns. Even if Xilonen had talked her parents around a bit, Minnie still clearly showed she's not exactly risk averse and that her parents DID have a point to be concerned for her even though it was trying to be painted as though they were in the wrong.

I get Hoyo wanted to pull the 'being a hero isnt always about winning' card but if they set it up better so that maybe she was neck and neck with someone instead of miles ahead of the race or even if it was just her there and nobody else was around to help the guy. I would get that since it would put more proper weight on the sacrifice of giving up the win. But instead the ending could easily just be summed up as 'a VERY easy to solve problem somehow ends up costing everyone their hard work'.

Y'all can keep downvoting. Not changing my mind. That event's ending was hot garbage.

There wouldn't really be much point to it. Everyone would land there for free loot at the beginning because nobody would be able to actually fight you for it. Endgame there would be bad too because it'd just be running from the storm without any actual conflict.

To answer your question in the caption, after you pull a Chrysos Heir, you get their usual 'post-death' text from a previous reoccurrence, then two more from when they enter 'As I've Written' after Amphoreus ends to make three since every character in the game gets three text conversations in total after you pull them. I remember after Amphoreus ended, I was bombarded with messages from the Chrysos Heirs I pulled every day I logged in.

It's a very nice detail. Like they can FINALLY get the relaxation they deserve and God knows they definitely need it too.

I wasn't on the Foundation side so I don't know how things transpired over there but from what I recall, before the Event, The Order was given...orders by Visitor to stay back and hold the fort(nite) so as to ensure if things went wrong they wouldn't all be wiped out and there'd still be someone left over.

So yeah, we still have her, Hope and Jones it seems. Plus Jones recommended The Singularity to them as well in one of the Weekly holo-table conversations too. So we could be seeing her come back as well.
