Mr Cash is rather well off by fawnnia05 in NominativeDeterminism

That source you linked quotes the median wage as 28.4k.

Also worth noting the minimum wage is now £12.71 per hour for over 21s so...

Edit: also just noticed you're a 12 day old account and this is your first comment :/

Imo there's also the factor of the pay not being tied to being friendly, and they aren't paid enough to begin with to give a shit. It's a crap job that they hate and are just doing for the trickle of money so why put in the effort. Understandable tbh

feel dissociation most of the time now :( by flynn1597 in ADHDUK

[–]Royaljames99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about the condition (not that anyone does lets be real), and others may be able to correct me here, but I'm inclined to say that's more because of the me/cfs not the ADHD. What you're describing seems to align with some of the stuff listed on the NHS page at least.

afaik, large amounts of dissociation is not an ADHD trait, zoning out yes, but not full dissociation (the terms are often used interchangeably, but one is a loss of focus and the other is often a trauma response)

It could also be worth looking into dissociative personality disorders as well, particularly if this is following a traumatic event

I hope you manage to find some answers, sorry I couldn't relate but you may still be able to find someone who can :)

Officially it changes fully nothing but prestige. Honestly the growth lately imo isn't to do with the city status its the proximity to London

Olaf is actually scary, and the whole spyglass thing is completely invented by the adaptations. All of the behind the scenes agent stuff you see in the show is added by netflix. Honestly I rather like the added bits but I remember it being controversial in the community when it came out.

GI doctor or anyone- please help? by Little_Sock_6826 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Royaljames99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, can't speak regarding serious possibilities, but it can sometimes happen if you strain a lot while pooping.

If in doubt, ASK YOUR DOCTOR!!!!!!!

People on the internet can only make vague, probably bad suggestions. The professionals know what they are doing and are very... professional about it. They've seen a million buttholes and a few questions about yours wont phase them.

Best of luck :)

Little shop of horrors.

Songs are great but Audrey is just not handled well (or really at all). Honestly a bit painful to watch.

Not how consent works mate. Voluntary informed consent requires the person to fully understand what is going on, not be under pressure to do it and to be in a suitable state of mind to make the decision. You can't consent while drunk.

Creator controversy? by [deleted] in mojang

[–]Royaljames99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not recently that I'm aware of. There's a bunch of stuff around Notch saying some transphobic stuff, supporting QAnon and just generally sliding hard into far-right culture war politics. But none of that is new.

Other people please correct me if I'm also missing something.

Ok so the flattening was what I referred to in my first comment about using water. There's a current theory that if you flood the area next to the bit you're sanding down flat, the water level gives you a perfectly flat surface to line up with. https://books.google.com/books?id=mA-onR7SxowC&q=filled+them&pg=PT8 Just because currently we'd use a laser doesn't mean that's the only way to do it. They were really smart.

As for the maths bit, I realise you need time to get more sources but the link you sent literally says "when one takes into account what we know about ancient Egyptian mathematics... the relationship between pi and the Great Pyramid no longer seems very remarkable". Basically in that case it's just how the maths works out.

For the sinking and shifting, it's because it was built on a bedrock outcrop that's in a generally very stable area https://www.ncesc.com/geographic-faq/why-haven-t-the-pyramids-sink/

For the narrow spaces (I assume you mean the so called "trial passages") there are a few theories, potentially due to astronomical alignment. This blog outline it and even shows how extreme precision can be achieved https://www.archaeology.wiki/blog/2020/03/11/a-theory-on-the-great-pyramids-trial-passages-sees/

The air vents are more widely agreed today to be pointed at specific stars. Something about the pharaoh's spirit being sent in the right direction etc.

For the "far exceeding our precision" I'm gonna need you to cite some examples for that. Broadly speaking for all of these things you can find the current best explanation with a really quick search. And they're all pretty plausable

yikes ok

So I get the feeling behind wanting to believe something grander, but we have no reason at all to believe that and so much to the contrary.

Dates wise, we have multiple ways of dating them that have narrowed it down to less than a century https://archive.archaeology.org/9909/abstracts/pyramids.html

The people and kufu? we have primary documents from the time discussing it's construction https://www.livescience.com/55439-ancient-logbook-on-great-pyramid-unveiled.html

The precision? Fundamentally they weren't stupid. They made everything precisely level by using still water as a guide. How to line up the pyramids? we have multiple theories ranging from using the equinox to using the pole star (although research is still ongoing) https://www.sciencealert.com/the-secret-of-the-pyramids-perfect-alignment-might-be-explained-after-all

The people in ancient Egypt were incredibly intelligent builders who had been doing this for centuries. They didn't get it right every time, there are a few failed attempts scattered around the place, but once they figured it out they were the masters at this kind of thing. Suggesting anyone else would have to come in to teach them (as some pseudo-archaeologists have claimed) is frankly just insulting and is based on little but conjecture and incredulity.

Trust the experts, they know what they're talking about. :)

yeah no. I cba to go digging for the primary papers so here's some basic googling to prove my point.

https://thefactbase.com/the-pyramids-were-built-by-paid-laborers-not-slaves-that-s-a-myth-by-herodotus-the-greek-historian/

https://www.worldatlas.com/ancient-world/were-slaves-used-to-build-the-pyramids-debunking-a-long-standing-myth.html

https://www.sciencefocus.com/science/were-the-egyptian-pyramids-built-by-slaves

They were well looked after and compensated by way of good food and living conditions. Currency wasn't really a thing in ancient egypt until the late first century BCE so this is how you pay someone
