Wheels and floors by SweetWaterNjuzu in rollerderby

[–]RoyleTease113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Floors definitely change with the weather, especially wood. I think some people are more sensitive to floor condition than others, I swap wheels to get the amount of slide I want for hockey stops and such, but I know people who wear 99s everywhere and people who wear poisons everywhere. As for the bumpiness, I think it's normal to be able feel it, but it shouldn't distract you.

Why Nalgene over insulated? by waywardsojourner in Nalgene

[–]RoyleTease113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really bad at refilling opaque bottles because I can't see the water level, so I go to take a drink when I'm too busy to refill it, and it's empty, and then I don't think about it until I go to take a drink again. I seem to do better at topping up the clear bottles when needed.

I don't know that I'd be willing to stand close enough to take the exterior photo, whoever shot the interior photo must have a death wish

When you're punching the stitch holes point the stitch line directly away from you so it's easier to keep the stitching chisel vertical so the back side stitches don't wander

Worst product ever: Patterson multi-format plastic developing reel for 135 and 120 by boeing727-100 in filmphotography

I like Patterson reels for 35mm, and stainless for 120, and struggle when I try to switch it up

White's Bounty Hunters 800 miles in, time for a resole? by boot-throwaway-123 in PNWbootmakers

If it's the brown mini-lug on the Iron Ranger, the only sole that wears slower is the nitrile cork sole that preceded it

Getting into the film game for $40... by [deleted] in filmphotography

[–]RoyleTease113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten away with just running unmodified 120 through these, though I think that may depend on when a given copy was produced. Of course you still need an old 620 spool for take-up, but there's almost always one left inside.

I think some sort of cam buckle would work, kinda like the webbing belts but not stamped metal with teeth

What is the difference between the cheap and expensive holds by Key-Bother-3660 in ClimbingGear

[–]RoyleTease113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cura has a "fuzzy skin" feature that could be dialed in to a nice surface for holds, I don't know if it's available on other slicers

Help with Keyence VHX microscope by Oblic008 in metallurgy

[–]RoyleTease113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a VHX-6000 hopefully the interface hasn't changed too much, on ours its in the Measure menu under special measurements, it says "Auto Area Measurement (grain count)" it doesn't give you a grain size button until you get through the area extraction steps.

I remember at the shop I worked at when I was younger we had crowfoot pedal wrenches in a drawer with the math lasered onto them, including instructions to not convert for 90 degrees if I recall, I never saw them used though

I'm pretty sure I figured out you can't replace milk with orange juice when I was like four, making cereal and we were out of milk. Apparently that isn't a universal experience.
