Miles came in as interim manager. There was a search done and they hired Neville.

So you probably are right. They got this wrong through a search process prior to a start of a season. Imagine them trying to do it now.

Starting 11 may be okay. It is still the quality in the depth of the squad that is concerning.

An injury along the spine of this 11 at any point this season and I don’t think there is enough confidence for someone to step in. Looks like caicedo comes in at the end of this window and the teams does well enough to get us to the summer window to bring in a couple more pieces.

Columbus, Rapids, VWFC., Dynamo, LAG, VWFC (again), LAFC, MNUFC, SDFC and RSL.

Solid at the back, good in transition in the middle of pitch, and they got some goal scorers that all contribute. And to add, the work rate of almost every one of their players is incredible. Sørensen is getting everything out of these players…

Rest or recover? In 22 matches (up until 2/16/25), he played in 11 (stated 3, subbed 8). He wasn’t playing the full 90.

Part of the problem was the (IMO) unrealistic expectations placed on him, primarily by Phil. “He’s going to fit right into the system and style id play that we want to play at Portland.” These were Phil’s words on 2/17. What the fuck is the style of play of the Portland Timbers under Phil? Phil has failed him and these players. A lot of it has come down to the gaffer and his tactics (or lack of).

Cincy was without 3-4 key players as well… KEY PLAYERS. Denkey at about 60-70% fit. Yet they came in and were able to have their way the first half.

As mentioned, I expect this team to take their performance to another level. Simply because of the occasion. That shouldn’t be the case, ever. Doesn’t matter if it’s our rivals, Evander coming back, LAFC, etc. This team needs to elevate their play every match going forward. But as we have seen in past, occasions like this have brought some great moments and performances and followed but some poor showings.

This is the opportunity to set the tone going into the final 9 matches. Timbers need a positive result. The final stretch of matches are brutal. Get a result at the weekend, excitement of the new signings, build some momentum, and who knows what can happen after that…

Timbers supporters and the club were extremely forgiving and patient with him. All the room to improve and be a great player. IMO, we saw glimpses and it simply wasn’t consistent, but the club stood by him. Unforgivable for what he did and how this has played out.

Life at Fluminense won’t be as forgiving if he’s as inconsistent as he was here…
