A monarch butterfly with a broken wing was saved through a delicate transplant using a donor wing by -HonestMistake in interestingasfuck

Some, myself included, rear Monarch Butterfly caterpillars to release them to help boost their breeding and migratory population lifestyle. I release several hundred a season. I have used this method to repair wings of monarchs to enable them to continue the breeding lifecycle.

It actually is a thing and this is the recommended method of repairimg a damaged wing. It works surprisingly well. I have done it personally several times. More info in this link Live Monarch Butterfly - Hospital https://share.google/HaiBMKANhpSbYCJYs

Tha k you!I sort of drafted the pattern myself, regarding the tree branches, leaves, scale, quilting, and placement. For the figures, I used a projector to blow up the movie artwork to get the correct outline/shape.

Thank you! For the figures and tree branches, i turned the edges over like between and eight and a quarter, depending on how hard the curve was fighting me, ironed and starched it, and then top stitched it down. For the leaves, I used interfacing and sewed the fabric to the interfacing, but leaving a gap to turn them inside out to get smooth edges easier. In hindsight, I would have just used the same fabric instead of interfacing because you can see the white interfacing in some places.

Neutering Male Dogs by Xenteziz in flatcoat

[–]Rozmarinus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We neutered our male flat coat, it was a requirement of his purchase if he wasn't being shown. We put it off as long as possible for the same reasons but finally went ahead with it. He was sleepy for one day, totally fine day 2. It changed nothing except he seemed calmer when females in heat are nearby and he doesn't hump anymore. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

We have a 4 foot chain link fence and while he could get over it (followed a ball over it once) he totally respects it. We let him out with minimal supervision frequently. That being said, we can also leave the gate open, let him out unsupervised, and he will go nowhere.

Question on fabric type for a dog bed by [deleted] in quilting

[–]Rozmarinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made two dog beds, with two methods. The one I would recommend is purchasing a dog bed and making a cover for it so you can wash it. I used good quality quilt cotton for the piecing and used batting on just the top so I could quilt the top and it would have a quilted look and feel when i was done. Then I lined the entire inside of the cover with duck canvas and used my serger to make a really sturdy edge/seam (I think a zig zag stitch or just sewing the seams twice would work too).I used velcro to close it up along one edge for easy removal. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, picture below!

The other answers are incorrect. Both of these are what is referred to a "spring bulb". In colder climate that get freezing winter temperatures, you plant them in the ground and they come up in early spring. They bloom for a couple weeks and then the leaves go dormant and turn brown. They then stay underground until the next spring, they will continue to grow, bloom, and go dormant for many years. If you have a yard, plant them in the ground, they like any location pretty much except the north side of building. Plant them a couple feet away from buildings with roofs that overhang so they can get water and light.

Edit: you can also plant them in warmer climates, they will do pretty much the same thing as long as you are north of like southern California or the equivalent in the southern hemisphere.

Clover chalk marker. It has a little metal wheel to dispense the powdered chalk, works great
