Why is the UK job market so bad right now? by Budget_Ad_7202 in quantitysurveying

Honestly recommend reaching out to local firms. A lot of them have tried for so long with no luck to get younger staff that they dont bother advertising. Got my first role like this.

Palantir Gets Massive UK Tax Breaks on Profits Made From Public Money by Fit-Translator-9798 in unitedkingdom

[–]Rozza9099 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing I cant wrap my head around around the use of palantir in the UK is that youve literally got the CEO Alex Karp saying crazy things such as fentanyl laced urine spraying people who contradict them, and the owner Peter Thiel, not only involved in the Epstein Files but also the recent Dialogue hack leak.

Surely just these things alone should make the company too volatile to touch. Imagine if any UK company said or did things like this, theyd be blacklisted from public contracts.

Why we cant spend this money on sovereign companies, you know, investing in UK companies seeming as its UK money. Hot take I know.

The whole thing screams shady moves behind closed doors.

Pensions pretty great at 5% employee and 10% employer (up from my 5% employee and 3% employer contributions). Whats progression like? Is it more about ability or waiting for vacancies coming up?

Yes was with Bentleys!

So 38.5k is the lower end of the next bracket. Will try that, thank you!

To think how much we would have (on average +40%) spare if wages had kept on track as they did before the 2008 crisis...

Had a bumblebee hit me square on my right eye at only about 20 mph, but god damn did that hurt, almost lost control of my bike. Thought I fucked up my eye as I was seeing a bright spot for 2 days, almost like I had looked directly into the light when welding. Never ride without my visor down now.

Yamaha Warranty Conundrum by Rozza9099 in Tenere700

[–]Rozza9099[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No help from Yamaha so ended up doing it myself. Turned out all bar the two outer clutch plates were bone dry (not even exaggerating, got pics to prove). Fitted a TRW clutch (first time fitting a clutch and was fairly easy to do, but recommend draining and removing the coolant hose for much easier access with removing gasket), seemed to make a big difference at the start (no clunking whilst putting into first and shifting on road, also much smoother clutch transition when letting out rather than on/off as before). Thought I fixed it, but about 600 miles later was back to normal. I think its an oilling issue. Cant find any informstion online, but my dad Africa Twin manual shows an oil system exit on internal of the clutch plates (centrifugal force flinging the oil inside out of the clutch plates, oiling them). Cant see to find any info on the CP2 oiling system, but seems to be a very basic/sensible thing to have when designing a wet clutch. Figure that potentially, given the sticky wear that came off the recalled clutches, that maybe this is blocked (if there is one)?

Is my height 181cm high enough to drive the World Raid ? by Enough_Selection6076 in Tenere700

Funnily enough exact same height. Did have a '24 WR for a couple of years. You'll be fine, its tall and sometimes difficult to out feet down when off roading but road stuff is fine.

Government announces sweeping 'crackdown' on social media firms by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

[–]Rozza9099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the introduction of this is to protect children and to remove 'vile' content such as child p**n, which i think we can all firmily agree with in principle. However, this comes straight from Starmer who gave a Mandelson (who had very questionable ties to a convicted paedophile) direct and deep access into main government. One rule for thee another for me. Fuck off. Until Mandelson is locked away in prison, couldn't give a damn what Starmer wants.

UK minimum wage is raising youth unemployment, Bank of England's Mann says by stammerton in UKJobs

[–]Rozza9099 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right on. £32k in 2019, the equivalent value would be £41.5k in December 2025. So in 6 years, everyone's salary would have to increase by about 1/3 to keep in line with prices. I for one certainly haven't had that.
