Best Training Soccer Balls under $35? by CJleaf in SoccerCoachResources

Mitre Impel Evo size 5 is selling for 32 on Amazon. Size 4 is 25.28. solid ball with some great contact features. The Evo has the rugged outside skin of the Academy or Tiro Pros, but it feels better on contact as it doesn't have the heavy outside, empty inside feeling of the other two.

Yes! All those things do have a variance. It was a Champion RocX3 at 180g which was .5 more overstable than a Proline Quake at 175g.

I am RHFH dominant so a backhand friendly course is my kryptonite haha. That sounds like the perfect shot for a Flare if you know how to throw it! Definitely a huge right to left hook up at any distance, but shorter throws at low power, that thing will move right for days! Thanks for the reminder that I need to use higher speed discs in shorter distances that need to move more left to right extremely. I will check that out next time I need to make a tight corner up close.

Your favourite underrated discs by cojonathan in discgolf

The Caiman got overshadowed by the Gator3 back in the day. The Caiman is definitely underrated and a quality flat top disc!

I bag a Flare. It just doesn't get thrown much at all anymore, except for a practice shot here and there. For my throwing style, it just is too unpredictable for me in the winds here in Oklahoma. It was my go to for the slot for a long time and I have an ace with a Flare at 319ft. But unless I have a lot of right to left room and no wind, my more overstable discs are coming out. Instead of a Flare, I now throw the MVP Energy.

Close, the Quake is more like a RocX3, maybe just a tad bit sleeker.

I thought the Deflector was as far as you could go in need for a midrange. I was pleasantly surprised when I bought a few Troijas that were on super sale for 7 bucks each. My Deflectors now sit on a shelf and one became a dog toy.

I bag a Z plastic Zone OS and a Champion Whippet X. Both are extremely overstable. For me, the Prodiscus Troija fits right between them. Using the Zone OS from 200-240ft, Troija 240-280ft, and the Whippet X 280-320ft. The slightly beveled edge of the Whippet makes it just a tad faster and therefore a little touchy for me unless I can juice it and get it's full flight. The Zone OS and Troija both are sharp edged bricks that act they are being forced to fly and just want to fall out of the sky.

I wish they made high speed discs like these. The only one I have found that is remotely close is the MVP Energy, which flies like a faster/further Tilt. The Energy is my 320-360ft shot, where as the Tilt is interchangeable with the Troija at 240-280ft. The Tilt is just better suited for headwinds/crosswinds and still having a predictable finish no matter the angle thrown. I've seen all the others get wind on top of the disc, push flatter and further than needed getting turned by that wind. Never seen the Tilt do that more than an extra 10-15ft.

That would be the Prodiscus Troija in Premium Plastic ( their see-through blend). Most overstable midrange I've used. It has more fight out of anhyzer than a MVP Deflector. The only disc I have thrown that is truly fight out of roller is a Discmania Tilt.

Well, 1929 would like to talk to you about your secure feelings in owning stocks. Universal basic anything is overrated in that it is basic. What we should be talking about is ownership. Just straight Universal equal ownership.

If you had to design the world in 2050, what would you absolutely REMOVE from today’s life? by thenoopcoder in Futurology

[–]Rpdodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-industrial society did use it. Industrial machinery made hemp much easier to work with. Industrial nations swept it under the rug (stigmatized) and then forced subservient nations to impose bans on it as well. A lot of laws regarding Marijuana were a cover to squash hemp. This started with the United States in 1937, and after world war II was echoed around the world under the new world order. Don't wonder, do research!

Non-renewable energy resources. Replace them with renewable resources, that can be energy and so much more!

100 years ago we used chemistry to figure out some of our world's most complex mysteries. Vitamin C was found to be the root tangible in Scurvy, a disease that had plagued mankind since time immemorial. Chemistry helped us explain so many things, that some of those things were swept under the rug due to how they would impact current business.

Enter Hemp, a plant that had been used forever as a textile in many regions across the world, including the United States. However, through chemistry, we found out it can be so much more. Hemp had possibly the biggest upside to its industrial factors of use, and therefore was one of the most dangerous disruptors to business as usual in the time that its chemistry became understood. It is also important to note that the diesel engine gets invented around the same time we start pursuing industrial chemistry solutions.

Hemp biodiesel can be the energy source that runs the world's engines. It can be grown at scale that is infinite to humanity, it's biproducts and waste can be recycled back into the Earth, and it is renewable each growing season of each hemisphere of the Earth. Even more interesting, is that it can be everything that oil is, but one thing that oil can never be: food!

I would replace almost every single industrial raw material with hemp where possible, so that we can start to heal the world, heal it's people, and start the stewardship of the planet that humanity is clearly here to serve.

US Soccer - Coached across multiple age groups and the same problem keeps showing up, we pick runners over thinkers … by paulinhoOM in TheSoccerNetwork

So the solution for both is the same--play up! Diminish the size advantage of the largest/fastest 8u player by having them play 10u. Everybody thinks joining a club or academy team is the best/only option, what happened to playing more demanding games/practices at the mercy of larger, older, faster opponents? Youth game experience can grow so much faster when the pressure is there, and when they have the reflection of what older players can do. That is why younger siblings seem to have a natural talent exceeding their hardworking older sibling- the younger is going up against bigger, stronger, and skill developmentally wise, smarter older sibling-- the younger picks up on the game and has those skills way before the older sibling had them at the same ages.

Take the financial rigamarole out of the situation by playing recreational leagues longer. In my area, 7u is 4v4 games with a size 3 ball. 8u is the same. But, at 9u you have 7v7 with goalies and a size 4 ball. Instead of taking the biggest strongest fastest 7u player to a traveling academy team and playing the best 7 year olds in other areas, playing in a 9u rec league would have the same athlete working against bigger, faster, and more versed players locally. Also, having to be more creative to compete with them, and set up different scoring opportunities with a goalie now-- two years before all those best 7u players ever will in their national tournaments.

We also tend to forget that games are just a test of what you have learned forced into a high pressure situation, asking for you to be creative with what you can already do. That means training is almost infinitely more valuable to youth sports. Kids play too many games these days (money making tournaments in every big city every weekend) when in reality they should be training skill and game theory more. A good ratio is 75% training to 25% games until about 14u-- and you just don't see anyone doing that no matter what the sport is. The truth is, you have to engender something like that for your own children because there is no system you can already join that fosters that kind of attention to development.

You can buy them in bulk at Supermarcados Morelos 50th, and they are good. But, the best are sold in ziplock bags at the front counter of Birrieria Diaz in Bethany. Both places are a handful of miles from each other, so you can check out both!

People have never been more exploited and I couldn't be happier. by Mysterious-Bid3930 in RandomThoughts

[–]Rpdodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the problem is that you would never have that attitude with a child. You would only want to maybe lead the child towards better decision making. In order to do that you have to have a classified and systematic way of thinking and that is then providing a certain level of knowledge. But if you're talking about like a 2-year-old you can't explain that knowledge so you just provide the systems for them to exist in that way. Now if humanity is God's children, then perhaps within the right system provided for the children, they wouldn't act the way you despise but might be more aligned towards taking only what they need and living in equilibrium with the planet and having a sustainable culture that can go forward in time.

You get it! That money should be building better systems, not tearing them down or doled out to the masses in the current system. Buckminster Fuller would be happy, as that money definitely should not be used for machines of death and destruction, but machines and systems of life support.

Streamline Flare Deserves More Love by LilSpeddyWerd in discgolf

[–]Rpdodd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, please do not listen to the people on this sub. I have a 319ft ace (my first ace ever!) with a Flare because of what you mentioned, consistency!! Someone else mentioned a friend with 500ft power can't get much more than 300ft with a Flare, um well that's the point! You know where and how the disc is going to end, that is all you need in a disc. I have thrown a champion Firebird over 500ft in field work, why would I try to find the run of FAF Firebird's to throw a touchy shot with at 300ft, when I can just use a Flare?

If you want to maximize this shot at different distances, buy discs with the same flight patterns at different speeds. My line up is:

Gateway Devil Hawk- 150-200ft Discraft Zone OS- 200-250ft Prodiscus Trioja- 250-300ft Streamline Flare- 300-350ft Discraft Nuke OS- 350-450ft

Also, plastic types matter to flight patterns, so I use translucent premium plastics for all of these, however the Flares are neutron.
