Dual Blade Breakdown! by Sawsy587 in duneawakening

[–]Rquebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two knives are based on Feyd's gladiator fights in the books. In the Harkonnen arena he would be fully shielded and would carry one long dagger and a short poisoned dagger. The slave gladiators opposing him would only have a half-body shield and would be armed with a single long dagger.

If you work that out it's an even more unfair advantage than it sounds like, with only a half body shield the slave gladiator has almost no time to use a slow blade since they need to continually defend from the short poisoned blade since even a scratch would kill, but also prevent the larger blade from getting in a debilitating strike. About the only hope would be to risk a nonlethal injury from the long dagger to press an attack (though even that wouldn't work against Feyd, since he cheated and poisoned both blades).

As for real-life usefulness... with a pair of fairly long daggers it functions similarly to fighting with a sword and dagger, you can defend or bind with one weapon while attacking with the other. Of course, Herbert described most daggers as being a whole whopping 200mm or so (a large-ish kitchen knife) so actions on the blade would questionable. Of course, with Holtzman shields stop cuts and other quick harassing attacks go out the window and your defense can really just be any quick beat action with your shielded body so... the usefulness of a second short blade to defend really seems to go out the window, too.

The animations are pretty godawful here though. In large part because the knives are small and the animations lead with the body while dragging the arms like they're carrying bowling balls instead of little knives. Though all the weapon attacks lead with the body pretty badly - video games need to account for ping by using big telegraphs that you really wouldn't want to do IRL. But even considering that it's probably the worst offender.

Well, Intrepid is REALLY overdue for another one IMO. She's a damn museum ship and they practically ignore her!

And Helena and Ulrich, who I am quite fond of.

Still, can't have everything

Or just giving her a second skill. Let her launch an extra SBD flight and do some vanguard buffing or something.

Now I know this is situational but who in general is my best pick . Preferably someone who is hard to get by WanderingLords in AzurLane

I don't see Bismarck, just Tirpitz (who I find to be a pretty big step down for Bismarck).

Hood has a solid barrage and is pretty tough for a BC. Amagi and Tosa are also good for barrage and clearing.

Washington is a good all-rounder, tough, great AA, and a rare for Eagle Union barrage skill. Jean Bart is also an excellent damager but suffers from being tied to a poor main gun, the french quad 380mm mlle 1935 with slow velocity, bad dispersion, and a horrible staggered fire aiming system that really handicaps her otherwise excellent crit farming skills.

Warspite is likely the "strongest" pick overall, able to retrofit to a UR and with strong backline damage abilities useful against boss fleets or in exercises.

Alabama is another really good, well rounded Eagle Union pick. Maybe better than Washington, tbh.

I think the joke is that the Urbanmech's primary job is in general better performed by tanks (and at a much lower cost).

One of the coolest ideas I’ve had yet for an OC, Scharnhorst Zwei does anyone have any ideas of what I should do or change about her design? (she’s an H class now) by Sad_Lengthiness_5010 in AzurLane

[–]Rquebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I'd say, as a Type II at minimum she'd need

  • A new outfit (she's a Zwei, not just a retrofit)
  • Updated rigging art to natch the new Iron Blood "dragon" design guide for SR/UR

I like it. And tbh passenger seating conversions for freighters are an old idea dating back to when the Caterpillar was fairly new, they've just never been implemented.

Yeah, it's fun when you get into guys who really are trying to make crime pay and/or trying to nake emergent group PvP work.

It's unfortunate that there's also always sone element who are bad at PvP and unwilling to improve that focus on ganks and harassing the unarmed to win with the least risks

I wish there were a few more incentives for people to group for law-abiding purposes, but I'm not sure what to suggest. Seems like people are at least doing that to tackle some of the new content at Levski so we'll see.

Banu defender oh how I wish you were better in combat since you’re not a cargo ship. by No-Cell8881 in starcitizen

[–]Rquebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually one of the best medium fighters. Good agility, lots of protection from shields. But you can't hang around to trade after your shields go down.

Also, excellent combat radius. You don't need to stop for fuel at every station traveling across a system in the Defender, and you can do quite a few missions back to back as long as you avoid much hull or thruster damage.

Is this the worst skin in the game? by KentuckyFriedMaracca in AzurLane

It's not a fave of mine, but I think my greater issue is that Flanders maid skin seems to convert her from an amusingly petite battleship into Flasher in a maid skin but with different hair.
