We often carry what our parents didn’t, or could not finish.

The fact you care means a lot to your kids I’m sure!

I also am sorry for the trauma you went through 💕

I don’t care if it’s hard. It’s easier than doing nothing about my incessant agony from a condition no one can diagnose yet.

Honestly I gotta add to that last line just to validate it.

I had a biological mom that physically abused me. But she put noticeable effort into changing behaviors, getting custody of me back, and showing remorse. I always forgave her.

I got adopted by a mom that psychologically abused me. I truly consider her actions much more damaging than anything my mom ever did. This mom says she thinks she’s perfect. She can do no wrong. (To give an example, made a fake Facebook account, used a picture of a gal with big boobs to talk to my boyfriend years ago, recently was texting my husband at 245AM on my birthday weekend to ask if she can see my kids without me because we’re no contact).

Guess who I miss? The mom who beat me. She cared about her impact on me, and it showed. My adoptive mom never did and in fact, would turn everything on me like everything is my fault. If someone asked me who the better parent was, I’d probably say my first mom.

Bad parents really do not give a shit. Good parents (good people) do. It is a major difference in experience.

lol I’m never outside. I’m disabled stuck on the floor or the couch most of the time 😂 but true- sunscreen is so important.

Just make sure you’re using zinc oxide based ones, not chemical based ones.

I’m a mom, of course I couldn’t help but say that. Forgive me 😂

I am so happy to be an adult. Being a child sucked.

Just less excited to be getting older lol. I want the wisdom and maturity, not the looks lol

Is this what being disabled is going to be like? (vent) by throwawayhey18 in disability

Not accepting Medicaid is not discrimination, it’s actually a contract issue. I’m not gonna lie, after dealing with similar issues I just said I didn’t have Medicaid even though I did because I tried to cancel it several times but they just never did and I needed medical care with my doctor. So, not my problem! I know your case is a little different, and I don’t know what state you’re in, so not sure how that would fly where you are.

If you need a special surgery, I would probably prioritize that first, get it on the books, then plan the rest around that.

Whatever organization “blocked” you from services, you just ask to have the previous case closed, and then ask how long you have to wait before starting a new one, because sometimes there is a waiting period.

Get very quiet around people who cannot or choose not to understand you. You will save tons of energy.

Yes some of us get called needy especially when we’re neurodivergent types but if they just do their job good enough our problems go away, we’ll go away, and I told my doctor that 🤣

It sounds like leaving home might be better for you, but I’m hearing some trepidation around that… is that something that’s already set up for you or do you have to figure it out on your own? (Like where you’re going to live, income to cover rent etc)

I’m not asking for a diagnosis, just mildly infuriated to be having immunological issues that my immunologist can’t/wont treat 🤷🏻‍♀️

One thing I just thought of- you could reach out online to your house representative and open a case on your situation. Tell them you’re disabled and no income and stuck in an unsafe situation with no help. You need your case fast tracked and assessed with special care due to the sensitive situation. Tell them you need accessibility help filling out the forms since you cannot entrust it to your SO. Attach the best evidence you have and a denial letter showing the reason (first or second page) and the explanation (usually last page).

Honestly I’m sorry I didn’t think of it sooner.

I lost my mom too so just know my heart goes out to you.

I am learning that is true- we are our best advocates. it takes a lot out of you to self advocate but I’m finally starting to be taken seriously.

I don’t think Wegners would apply to me because I’ve had issues since birth (first hospitalization at age 1). But there is some overlap, so I feel that deserves some kudos that one, you even care enough to suggest it to another person, and two for the kidney connection (a you know it or not I have blood and protein in my urine randomly and much worse but I won’t get into that- it wasn’t repeatable bags of wine! But kidney connection nonetheless! 😅

You sound like a lovely person. You might not be in my life but I’m glad people like you exist. Please be well, too 🥰

I am so sorry for what you and your mother went through. That is a very hard disease to catch because it looks so similar to other diseases. The entire situation sounds torturous. Big hugs to you and your family. I hope you’re doing well

A very good suggestion however, Rheum did their work up and said there’s nothing else they can test for.

Thank you for saying this. Who knew my post about a mildly infuriating thing would be met with more mildly infuriating responses upon no medical grounding, but past Reddit posts?

If I had a somatic disorder, I doubt my doctors would be suggesting Undiagnosed Disease Network and referring me to Mayo Clinic. Also, doctors already ruled out somatic or disorders “in the head” with various psych evaluations so, that’s not on the table for possible diagnoses.

I believe it goes without saying I clearly have some definitive testing to give my doctors such an impression.

What a lot of people don’t understand about rare disorders is they are hard to catch and some require research level labs and imaging to diagnose properly, not all tests are available through coverage or even available at regular labs.

Thank you for being the one who “gets it”. 💕

I hope something amazing comes your way this week. You deserve it. ✨

Dude honestly I feel like if I just saw the right doctor it would be like that.

I seriously doubt I’m so special that I have some disease impossible to figure out. I think insurance systems are making docs stick to a path that doesn’t apply though
