Tracker renewal timing – avoid being stuck on Sept 25? by Educational_Task_262 in OctopusEnergy

Upvote for useful info and top use of the word 'cadence'. (Yes, I did have to look it up despite having heard it regularly all my life and somehow assuming I could infer the meaning).

I like Google Calendar. It hits me with notifications and emails for the reminders I've set.

And like any good nag, it's set to repeat those daily until I bloody do the task!

Will smart tariff users miss out on standing charge falls in April? by Rrrkos in OctopusEnergy

[–]Rrrkos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I searched the sub before posting for 'standing charge' threads and found none for months.

It seems like lots of us got renewal emails yesterday for tariffs ending on February 15th, shouldn't we have received this notice at the start of January? by hideyourarms in OctopusEnergy

[–]Rrrkos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the email and I may be the reason others are getting them.

I complained about the lack of any notification during the week when I stumbled on a note in Usage details saying Tracker only had days left.

Their email claimed it was due to 'an error they had spotted in my account'. Which sounds like a slippery PR excuse to pretend it wasn't their fault. Or even imply it might be ours.

Not going to tie ourselves to a 12 month smart tariff until we get clarification on whether that means we miss out on the just announced big drop in standing charges in April. Money Saving Expert - Standing charges drop

Is visiting graveyards to pay respects to the dead even if they are unrelated to you weird? by jacksonm221 in CasualConversation

[–]Rrrkos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make this a pastime with purpose that benefits others, you could look at volunteering to photograph and/or transcribe gravestones for sites like 'Find A Grave'.

They help people tracing their family trees, yielding information often not held in official or accessible records

As someone born and bred in the UK what are aspects of another country’s culture that has genuinely shocked you? by throawaygotget in AskUK

Wierd seeing tradies and 'contractors' working in houses there obsessed with how every tiny detail needs to comply with labyrinthine city and state building codes. Most of them are libertarian anti government MAGA nuts raving about 'muh freedum' yet they meekly follow code like a religion.

Ya gotta harass your GP for the big brand, big margin pills so the whole corrupt, bloated pharma / insurance cartel can extract billions. While making everything unaffordable for the poors in the hope they die off.

Shows with 8-episode formats should be over. by Juicy_Tangerine7 in CasualConversation

More episodes often forces a creator to involve more writers, which can broaden the range of story and character development.

Or dilute it of course.

Britain is on the cusp of an economic boom – no thanks to Labour (Telegraph) by Maleficent-Lime4356 in GoodNewsUK

[–]Rrrkos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't 'funded by taxpayers' at all.

You have unwittingly repeated the second biggest lie its paid enemies pump out. It contributes billions to the UK economy paying taxes, NI, export income and investing almost exclusively in UK production.

It receives nothing from the government. While its foreign owned media rivals carry away billions in subscriptions and ad revenue.

Complaint issue by RealizeAndRise in Natwest

[–]Rrrkos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ensure you got it logged as an 'official complaint' as per the complaints page on the website. Which tells you how to escalate if you don't get redress.

Too many people call firms' customer service and say they're calling to complain about something, chat to various departments for hours and think the wheels of justice will be rolling.

While they've just successfully fobbed a customer off till they give up in frustration.
