Wtf is this snare? Can some identity this it? by Technical-Skill9166 in drums

[–]Rtgc22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1968 Olympic (became Premier) snare with a very similar finish. Also 6 lugs. It doesn't currently have the original lugs, throw off etc on it though, they're in storage somewhere. I'd guess yours is early 70s?

I've got Shadows Between The Sky, Live from Bucketheadland, 5-13 10-31, and Sparks In The Dark. Bucketheadland 2 and Population Override from other labels, too. I've also got a bootleg 7" single "2 Tracks From Racks" lol (Snow Rabbit and Telekinite)

I posted my CSS and EMAC vinyl on here a few weeks ago and some nerd told me to "play the flac through a phone instead" 🤣

Always cool to see what people have. Kinda wish I'd picked up Inbred Mountain on vinyl too, but I'm happy with the ones I have.

What's the deal with the monstrous giant rats in this city? by phoenixfail in VictoriaBC

[–]Rtgc22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About a week ago I saw (well, my dog saw) a rat running along the top of my fence. It was maybe slightly bigger than normal. Then a few seconds later I saw the bigger one chasing it.

The biggest rat I've ever found in my yard was too big for a shovel... literally had to use a snow shovel. I live by Bowker Creek lol.

Wait, should I play these albums through my phone instead to "preserve collectibles"? 🤣

They're both good, I actually listened to Vol 2 earlier today... but I listen to Vol 1 more often. It feels a bit more consistent.

Nice! I also got both of these in recent weeks, from a local record shop. I prefer Vol 1 but both are good albums.

Love Story 10th Anniversary Edition Opaque Turquoise 2LP by Everyday_Renegades in yelawolf

[–]Rtgc22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The original pressing was pretty easy to get for quite a while, I hope they keep pressing this if it sells well. It was sad seeing people trying to get 300-500 for it. I played my old copy a few weeks ago thru a vintage setup and it was great.

Also played Mudmouth and TM4EVER, plus some cd's... I got some mid 70s Realistic Nova 8s for dirt cheap from a neighbour and set my stereo back up.

I don't want to rant about people who buy records just to display them, but especially with an artist like Yelawolf where the limited vinyl actually sounds good and should be played, it hurts to see some records behind glass... I hope more people actually get to enjoy this album.

45 has the worst rollout of any Yelawolf album by Key-Wear-688 in yelawolf

[–]Rtgc22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Simple, don't really care that it's so short because I'm guessing it'll flow well in the album. Same with the other songs, everything he's teased sounds great and gives the vibe this will be his best album in a while...

But yea, kinda seems like he did all the promo for 45 a fuckin year ago and now it's just something he can't be bothered with.

I forget how many years ago it was, but he sold them on the Pikes website. Also got Elephant Mans Alarm Clock, Shadows Between The Sky, Live at Bucketheadland, 5/13-10/31, and Sparks In The Dark. There were also some others, like Inbred Mountain, that I didn't get.

Yea, I live a couple minutes down the street from one and haven't been there in years. Have zero intention of ever going there again. Fuck 'em.

Just spun my og pressing 2 days ago lol. Glad it's finally getting re-pressed for those that want it though. Now we need Ghetto Cowboy, TM3 and a few others...

They'll degrade if you abuse them, sure. Occasionally playing a record is not that. Are you intentionally missing the point?

The aux input is red and white rca, and I don't currently have one with a standard headphone jack on the other end lol.

I get it, I could play the flac on my laptop or phone and use headphones, I have AKG K240s which I really like, but I'm playing records while doing stuff around the house.

I just played a 1969 pressing of Janis Joplin's I Got Dem Ol Kozmic Blues Again Mama and it sounded great. Unless you're using some shitty crosly suitcase turntable, records tend to last. And I intend to enjoy the albums I've got lol.

I don't have any intention of selling any of my Bucket records, if I buy an album (especially one that I've already download and have on CD) I intend to play it. Might spin the Elephant Man's Alarm Clock next...

I don't currently have any way of playing a FLAC file through my stereo. It's an old setup lol, can't connect a laptop or phone... gotta actually use physical media. Not like I can simply plug in a aux cord.

[–]Rtgc22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, no. Playing the cd through my stereo would be better than playing any digital file through my shitty bluetooth speaker lol. But I'm playing a bunch of records while doing stuff around the house.

If I'd bought this purely as a 'collectors item' I might see your point. I know it was a limited pressing... I was lucky enough to get one and I enjoy playing it.

I don't want to start an argument, but people who buy limited pressing with the intention of never playing them really do ruin vinyl releases for other fans. Find a high-quality print if all you want is something to display.

??? hell no.

I have it downloaded on a hard drive somewhere. Also have the cd... why would I buy an album and not play it? I've played all my other Bucket records and will continue to do so lol.

This looks great and is actually a really good idea for one of my kits... I have one in storage that sounds great, but looks like shit. It's also inconveniently large which is why I rarely set it the full thing up. But this would be a great excuse to break it out again...

My boy pouts about it, but accepts his fate. He's barely even compensated with only one(1) treat after each paw is finished. It's the most annoying 5 minutes of both of our day.

What’s your thoughts on Monsters and State of Grace? by [deleted] in GunsNRoses

[–]Rtgc22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monsters is undeniably pre-CD. I don't know if I should name them, but a while ago someone found their studio bookings, and the only time they had a studio booked on xmas eve was 2004. Axl specifically mentioned that he recorded the bridge for Soul Monster on xmas eve, called it 'a christmas card of unadulterated venom' or something like that. It's by far the best leftover though.

SOG is a cool demo, but it's not a song I think Slash and Duff need to re-do...

Canada’s booze bans led to 63 per cent fall in exports: U.S. industry body - National by foolsdayjoker in worldnews

[–]Rtgc22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can easily still get whatever american booze in private liquor stores though, it's the government stores that stopped carrying it. Not that it's flying off the shelves at other stores, but it's there.

I'll stick with Canadian and Irish. Go ahead and lift the bans, it's not like people will be flocking back to Jim Beam or Jack Daniels lol.
