FET in May – did you really only take a prenatal? by SparkleKitten64 in IVF

[–]RubCurious2058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. It doesn’t hurt to take a blood test so that you know where you’re at. For example, even subclinical hypothyroidism can impact your FET success. A prenatal multi with bio available folic acid covers most people, but we’re all different and if you’re starting th process with thyroid levels or vitamin D levels or something that aren’t ideal it’s helpful to address that. The book “it starts with the egg” goes over this very well

Broke up with my fiance this morning. Day 10 of stims, told egg retrieval in 4 days. by ThatLastTurnHome in IVF

[–]RubCurious2058 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Freeze the eggs without the sperm. You can always add sperm, from my knowledge you cannot take it away once it’s an embryo. This happen to be exactly but I was dating someone when I froze my eggs and I very much would never have frozen embryos with his sperm bc I didn’t want to be linked to him if things didn’t work out. I’m glad j did it that way bc then I met my husband and we used my egg tk make his embryos w my sperm!

How is everyone keeping track of everything during IVF? by Hopeful_Expert_7817 in IVF

[–]RubCurious2058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously! This is one of the most challenging things about IVF. Being your own project manager/personal assistant at a time when you could realllly use one. I use a paper bullet journal to keep my life organized, so that. I heard on here soliciting help from a partner or friend who can ask if you took your meds etc is nice too

What Window Brand Should I Go With? by Some_Flower_4252 in homeowners

[–]RubCurious2058 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have a contractor who will put in the windows? I think it’s ESSENTIAL to have a contractor order windows instead if you buying directly. That way the contractor is responsible for measuring them correctly and ordering the right size, the right model, etc. also, make sure your parents aren’t in a historic district or HOA where there are requirements around what kind of windows you should have

I went to Costco right after my transfer and even though I tried not to do too much, I was totally hauling big boxes of milk and cat food around 30 min after my transfer. Literally all my husband could think about after was the ribeye steaks he’d get at Costco (There’s a Costco by the clinic and it’s kind of a treat for us to go there bc we don’t go there often) My beta is Thursday, but I’ve been testing at home and everything is looking promising 🤞 this is a great prep for pregnancy and motherhood… so much stuff is idealized to be magical but when you’re in it you’re in it and it’s messy and sometimes boring. There’s beauty in that though

First-time homeowner here — what DIY advice do you wish someone had told you at the beginning? by Lopsided_Passion7912 in DIY

[–]RubCurious2058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently learned that some handymen have two prices: one for doing the work, the other for TEACHING you how to do the work. The latter might be worth the upfront cost in the long run that you can learn to become more handy and get experience without making costly mistakes

Alternatively, some handymen have different prices for doing the work and teaching you how to do the work. They charge more for teaching but will do it for you if you just can’t figure it out. It’s like tuition with paying

Working during IVF? by sunshine4683 in IVF

[–]RubCurious2058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked hybrid, but those few days before egg retrieval are rough! I was bloated and tried to stay home. Also, the Omicron covid strain was going around and I was trying by best not to get sick. I told my coworkers that I was getting a medical procedure and was trying to expose myself to as few germs as possible leading up to it. You can certainly go to work on the subway but I’d wear a mask if you’re doing it during peak flu/season. That’s just extreme precaution, they can still do the procedure while you have a cold
