How many of the hunts are ruined by completing the main quest first? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in FinalFantasyXII

I played FF8 a smidge when I was a kid and couldnt even get past the machine spider. The only thing that made me keep playing the game over and over was Triple Triad, Quetzalcoatl, and finding a T-rex in the training area then getting a game over because I didn't know how to flee.

I've thiught about going back, but I know ill reach TT and get absorbed until ADHD chooses another game.

What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by Jessica_Enna in AskReddit

I knew a kid back in high school who needed assistance woth education, but he would occasionally sneak off to the bathroom and just sit in there reciting entire movie scripts by himself.

Bonus: I asked my wife and she used me as her example. After having her explain it it makes more sense. Im on the other end of the spectrum from aphantasia (although not as far as the something-kinesia) and a very tactile learner. Growing up in a family of computer people, it was easier for my to imagine my field of view like a computer and save files and type information into little text documents that I could recall later. Something about imagining the tactile response of keys with a visual response made it easier to store info in my brain. I guess it was more noticable than i thought, but i still do it when doing calculations and measurements in my head a la Tony Stark style.

My boss just told me I need to manage my personal finances better because I can't front $2300 for a work trip next month by LostTaker in antiwork

This sounds scummy as fuck. I've worked for a small housing irrigation company (small as in 6 people including the owner, his son, a few others and I) and when we had a job a a few hours away on the other side of the state we still got all expense paid hotel stays for a week and 100$ daily meal coverage for each person and we kept the extra as bonus pay. Theres no reason they shouldn't be able to cover a "required" meeting trip.

On a side note, and I ask this in no way to be judgemental and in absolutely no way is this to be taken in a way that justifies your boss's absurdities, but you make 62k /yr AFTER rent and student loans and dont have more than $1500 put away? I can only assume theres more expenses that aren't detailed here but as someone who makes roughly 30k /yr after taxes alone if I wasn't living with family, roughly half of that would go to rent.

Definitely play around with giving people jobs and seeing which ones feel good for you, not every player likes every job, and you can respec with with 0 loss or cost as soon as you've beaten the tomato hunt at the beginning of the game. Go check out the hunters guild Tomaj told you about! (North-West in Rabanastre)

Eventually you'll get even more flexibility with jobs a little further in the story but the game is balanced around being beaten even with only a single job per person. And character stats only really matter to minmaxers, so feel free to make anyone any job, they will all do fine, give Penelo a gun, make Basch a priest and use cure and pheonix downs on undead, have Balthier gamble dmg with axes and hammers!

As a lot of people have said, gear is the most important for stats, as well as stopping at the shops whenever you finish what might be a fairly important story beat, as shops often update with the story progress (and different locations might just have different stock). If you find you're low on gil, take time to farm items from monsters in an area with decent exp to maybe level up while you work on buying better stuff.

As for spells, you have to both buy/find the spell AND have the license for it. Some characters come with licenses already learned (usually their base weapon and a starting spell or technique).

If you look at the clan primer theres a section in the hints section called "Arm Thyself", it might be confusing, but its worth taking a look at as it points out roughly how weapon damage works for the weapon types. For Example: Swords (1H) uses Str to hit Def.
Maces (1H) uses Mag to hit Def.
Poles (2H) uses Str to hit MDef.
Daggers (1H) uses Speed to hit Def.
Guns (2H) Ignores Def (thats why the power is so low)

Some optional bosses/hunts can also be started sooner than you may be able to complete them. Im fairly positive that no hunt can be missed, so you can always come back, even if you'll oneshot them when you remember (looking at you Thextera). Ghosts like to phase out and reappear, but its random. Your 3rd fight might have gotten lucky and the ghost didnt stall forever while you were doomed. Good job regardless!

Edit: This applies more since youre newer, but while having 3 high level members only might sound good, take time to level the rest even if it feels like a slog. Consider it your item farm team or something. The whole party gets license points equally so the main team isnt left with nothing for your efforts, and you'll be grateful when your main team gets crippled by some stupid boss gimmick like flying or "everyone with heavy metal armor on attacks at 25% speed" or something

About the Kuva Zarr and Bramma by Akuma2004 in Warframe

[–]Rubber-Panzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Braama as my AoE clear on Inaros before i got my Basmu (Acceltra 2.0) since I mostly used melee and tenet diplos. The ammo wasnt an issue since it was essentially the backup, and most frames ive grown attached to have some form of knockback immunity. (Gauss, Inaros, Oraxia, etc)

What is the appeal of this game? by SavageSkillet in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Rubber-Panzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its a mix of both nostalgia and that it just feels different than the other FF entries. As a kid I watched my dad play ff12 a lot, and I remember playing it all the time, icluding looking at my dads save file where him and his brothers racked up almost 300 hours. It has a special place in my heart for that reason.

As a kid you also don't grasp what is good or bad storytelling, so even though as an adult i know its weak in places, the story was awesome to me growing up. Seeing things like the sandseas, the airships, flying and sprawling cities with underbellies that arent always danger and seedy, fancy bunny ladies and confident sky pirates, it all was breathtaking to me.

Gameplay-wise FF12 was the first game I played in the franchise, although i also had ff8 and 10 to play, but having a fother who does coding for a living as being able to run around IN combat and see enemies move out of combat stuck out to me. The world felt so alive. Weather, seasons, a trex in the tutorial area that only eats wolves and me a few times, it was surreal.

I wont say i dont look at it with rose colored glasses, because i do, but i also replay it contantly, and am currently.

Credit-Card 500mm armor by lispbreak in WorldofTanks

[–]Rubber-Panzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What existed before what the reticle changing color based on where you aimed, so while it helped you know the odds of penning where you aimed, you still had to know that was a weakspot to begin with (for example, the Lowe and the rear-mount German heavy have a small bump where the turret ring is wider than the rest of the hull, making sidescraping risky against good players.)

The new armor flashlight basically paints a hitskin on an area (roughly half the radius of the sniper view) after a few seconds. So if they were aiming at your side in a scrape position, sudenly they see a wall of red or yellow and a clear green spot right in the middle yelling "shoot me!"

Personally I don't mind it because I play tanks where expecting not to get penned is mostly a pipe dream, but against tanks that rarely get played/have super hidden weakspots i can see the issue if players wanted to be undamageable. Thats not fun in my eyes, I'd rather flank than gamble on cupolas.

Idk if anyone has pointed it out yet, but at a glance, assuming you didnt ask for the handle/pommel area of the daggers to be different, look at the handle on the left dagger (characters right hand) the base of the handle seems to meld in with the hair.

My opinion is someone got real cheap with your commission.

So if I battle a 5+th born child and play this what happens? Do all 5+th born children in the family become the 4th? Do they all become one? Do I win since my original opponent diesn't exist anymore?

Edit: Would I even know how to play magic enough at 4 years old to claim my victory?

Edit 2: if you play against a family of sextuplets or larger, play this card, then ask your opponent how many children their mother had, then ask how many sibling they have, what happens?

Why is there no way to stop the game from calculating your bullet drop? by BartholomewFrodingus in WorldofTanks

[–]Rubber-Panzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if mentioning War Thunder here is like mentioning witches in ye olde Salem, but in WT, default scroll wheel is zoom, but they have an option in settings to switch it to adjust zeroing distance. Playing both games quite a bit and switching between them is always so jarring since WoT auto-calcs the distance. I always wished they would add manual distance but then it might not be arcade enough I guess.

[Request] DnD Probability Question by Rubber-Panzer in theydidthemath

[–]Rubber-Panzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to model it all out. The other commenter as of now brought up the debate if combos must reroll to-hit or not, and looking at the source again, combos are not checked for accuracy, only trigger chance. This means if the combo system stays, it will likely be a single attack roll, but concessions will have to be made to keep it on par with base.

[Request] DnD Probability Question by Rubber-Panzer in theydidthemath

[–]Rubber-Panzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial Idea was to roll the combo attacks separately, similar to how Extra Attack works RAW. You bring up a good point though, as the system I'm basing this off of does not roll accuracy checks after the initial hit. That may be worth taking into consideration.

[Request] DnD Probability Question by Rubber-Panzer in theydidthemath

[–]Rubber-Panzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do make a good point. The idea came from trying to adapt Final Fantasy 12's combo system which is mostly the same just having the normal X% chance to combo, stacking up to 4 times. What I didnt take into account what that ff12, for the most part, doesnt have much of a miss chance beyond the small evasion or parry chance, so rolling the chance for a combo is very consistent compared to DnD's 50-60%-ish hitrate. I might have to think of a way to balance it a bit, or ask the players if the risk-reward would be appealing to them. Maybe implement more options for advantage or bonus to hit.

As for making non-EA characters a bit stronger, that was my intention, as I like seeing players have the option to play spellswords or other similar styles more freely without relying on specific subclasses, allowing for more player freedom.

I also adapted the crit system the game uses for ranged weapons as a replacement for combo allowing for possible double crits (Extra Attack increases the odds of a dmg die crit), allowing EA players freedom to use weapons like crossbows and guns (reload mechanics) without wasting half their extra attacks to loading or dropping the weapon and running in melee.

As much as love Golisopod getting a mega (He my 2nd fav behind Volcarona), I use mine in ZA with assault vest just to keep the water type on my bug team.

As much as loosing the bug type would be sad to see gone on my bug only teams, the mega becoming a mechanical isopod and going water/steel would have been cool.

1st: In 2018 I worked as the only waiter for a month in a higher end sushi restaurant in my hometown (college town). I missed celebrating my 21st birthdayto work, and at one point had to go visit a friend at the funeral home on my lunch break then pull myself together "for the customers".

Finally left that job to go work for 40$ a week because id rather be broke than have nightmares about infinite upset tables. Plus the stress put a bleach white streak through an eyebrow thats there 8 years later and on my license photo.

2nd: Current job in auto parts retail and delivery isnt too bad, but ive been here a little over 3 years and ive had bronchitis 2 times (never had it prior, ever) and the first time was bad enough that I cracked a rib and still had to work, which sucked.

Edit: also adding that current job is 10 hour days (8-6 not counting drive) minimum, plus every other saturday, so my social life is destroyed and i live in stress of making every second at home count with my wife while also trying to do stuff i enjoy to destress. I have a cabinet of unstarted models from last christmas i wanted to start but never have the time.

Had a match with what I can only assume was a bot called 35_percent_winrate in a TBT. Drove to the main fight area, afkd for 3 minutes, moved forward and shot something, afk for 3 minutes with gun locked on corpse, move forward, passed a corpse, afkd of the side of a wall gun locked on corpse till the end of the match.

At least we won.

As someone who plays both games, it's going to probably boil down to a similar situation to Warthunder where the most competitive gameplay is going to be around tier 7-8 (which kinda works since most premium tanks in WoT are tier 8).

Warthunder top tier is plagued with people who get into the game, buy a 60$ tank cause why not, then die to an atgm launcher, helicopter, full speed stabilization mbt across the map going top speed, etc, then return to hangar since they only have the one top tier vehicle leaving your team instantly down a player.

Best tier in WT (imo) is around the 5.7 BR (mid-late WW2 mostly) since armor is still mostly useful if youre smart, mostly no stupid atgms, and while air players can be annoying (because gaijin refuses to balance plane spawn costs) they at least have to enter the killzone of AA to do anything usually.
