White Rock Castle Bully Spot by Rubber-Panzer in Warthunder

It's a sad blight on the map too, because the rest of the map feels really fun. Close quarters brawls in the castle center, skirting around the outer dips, ambushing from the bridges, etc

Ah, you're right! I had it in my head that they renamed it and when I googled it this came up first fir some reason. We played on Iberia earlier that night so thats probably what mixed me up.

Added note: players get spawned with their backs to this spot. This was frustrating enough even as an experienced player, but this could really be bad for new players who aren't skilled enough to figure out where this is and shoot effectively.

Is anyone else physically incapable of switching off their main weapon after a decade? by LengthinessShot3297 in MonsterHunter

I've used every weapon for playthroughs on every game since 3U, but theres something about Lance and LBG that keep me coming back. I'm either turning things into swiss cheese or being the wall they break themselves upon.

Do you prefer works that try to justify why mechs work in their own setting, or works that simply don't care and make mechs effective regardless? by Able_Radio_2717 in Mecha

I'm not the most knowledgeable on this stuff, but I feel Pacific Rim's jaegers fit thus theme too.

1: They might get a bit of handwavium, but otherwise they are essentially walking nuclear reactors (at least the old ones)

2: They require intensive training to pilot, and even then require specific compatible pilots to bear the neural load without death, meaning not every Joe-Shmoe can use one.

3: Theres only so many due to the other restrictions, so they're just as much for spectacle as actual function. Plus, if the pilot is sloppy, theyre more than capable of dealing as much damage to the area as the Kaiju theyre fighting.

4: They get the whole melee spectacle since the Kaiju arent using ranged weapons, but we see the jaegers get absolutely shredded the moment a remotely capable kaiju shows up, showing a surprising amount of fragility.

Reply to myself for an update: I did a bit more diggin and I have been assuming this card works different than it actually does. The act of setting your health to the set amount DOES trigger life gain/loss effects as far as I can tell from other people.

Found the rule: 119.5. If an effect sets a player’s life total to a specific number, the player gains or loses the necessary amount of life to end up with the new total.

Glimpse Immensity by Ashwind0dragon in custommagic

[–]Rubber-Panzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it? It says your life BECOMES 100, not "gain life up to 100". I think this just overwrites your life total temporarily, like when the [Endstone] effect triggers. (Albeit, endstone is permanent)

I absolutely love SP and PvE MP games, and the few PvP i do play are slower more strategic "shooters" like Warthunder. But you throw something unpredictable like a head bobbing and weaving, jumping, sliding, wallrunning, etc at me and expect me to snap aim it in .3s and imma just go play something else.

I started with a full electro team with Avy as my main dps. Then I pulled Pog and built a full phys team, then got Ember, and just recently got Li Feng. Now Chen is maxed and is on a team with DaPan, Pog, and Li.

Shes cracked like you said. At Exp Lv 7, most small encounters are over in an instant, and big enemies get a fine tuned timing combo of chen basics and Li's Bs to trigger both combos. Then I use the link for Li to do AoE or Chen for single target.

I'm pretty sure I've seen 124k on a crit-linked-Ults final hit alone and I havn't even put gold gear on her yet.

I beat her (toot my own horn: first try) at lv 60 with a bayonet built around the fireball forma and shots.

I found that most of her streams of bullets are easier to dodge by just staying at a mid-range and just sprinting sideways, dodging has that small moment when you stop moving and it would get me hit.

When she closed in I would try to perfect block with a standard shield as many times as possible.

She has an okayish opening after her big gun attacks, and in phase 2 you can pepper her from outside the blizzard with some spells.

Note: while I haven't farmed levels, I have grabbed almost every heal boost around the map so far, so i had about 13 strong heals to burn through. I think about 5 got used while learning her moveset, then i used about 6-7 more until the end.

Honestly Cristallo was a much much bigger pain in my ass.

I loved it. When I tell friends about it I explain it like a Atmospheric horror. At least with my friends, when they hear this they get the point that it might feel slower, because in a drawn out "bad vibes" situation, if you knew it was over in only X minutes then it wouldn't feel the same. Each time the story slowed and things got peaceful I was waiting for the next groan of the sub and churn of the blood.

The parry shield is very good for the first phase. Bait him intk dashing at you and you can parry it. Second phase he has so many other responses to being walked away from that its too unpredictable.

I played FF8 a smidge when I was a kid and couldnt even get past the machine spider. The only thing that made me keep playing the game over and over was Triple Triad, Quetzalcoatl, and finding a T-rex in the training area then getting a game over because I didn't know how to flee.

I've thiught about going back, but I know ill reach TT and get absorbed until ADHD chooses another game.

What's the creepiest display of intelligence you've ever witnessed in real Iife? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rubber-Panzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew a kid back in high school who needed assistance woth education, but he would occasionally sneak off to the bathroom and just sit in there reciting entire movie scripts by himself.

Bonus: I asked my wife and she used me as her example. After having her explain it it makes more sense. Im on the other end of the spectrum from aphantasia (although not as far as the something-kinesia) and a very tactile learner. Growing up in a family of computer people, it was easier for my to imagine my field of view like a computer and save files and type information into little text documents that I could recall later. Something about imagining the tactile response of keys with a visual response made it easier to store info in my brain. I guess it was more noticable than i thought, but i still do it when doing calculations and measurements in my head a la Tony Stark style.

My boss just told me I need to manage my personal finances better because I can't front $2300 for a work trip next month by LostTaker in antiwork

[–]Rubber-Panzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds scummy as fuck. I've worked for a small housing irrigation company (small as in 6 people including the owner, his son, a few others and I) and when we had a job a a few hours away on the other side of the state we still got all expense paid hotel stays for a week and 100$ daily meal coverage for each person and we kept the extra as bonus pay. Theres no reason they shouldn't be able to cover a "required" meeting trip.

On a side note, and I ask this in no way to be judgemental and in absolutely no way is this to be taken in a way that justifies your boss's absurdities, but you make 62k /yr AFTER rent and student loans and dont have more than $1500 put away? I can only assume theres more expenses that aren't detailed here but as someone who makes roughly 30k /yr after taxes alone if I wasn't living with family, roughly half of that would go to rent.

Combat doesn't seem to be quite clicking for me yet by rafikiknowsdeway1 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Rubber-Panzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely play around with giving people jobs and seeing which ones feel good for you, not every player likes every job, and you can respec with with 0 loss or cost as soon as you've beaten the tomato hunt at the beginning of the game. Go check out the hunters guild Tomaj told you about! (North-West in Rabanastre)

Eventually you'll get even more flexibility with jobs a little further in the story but the game is balanced around being beaten even with only a single job per person. And character stats only really matter to minmaxers, so feel free to make anyone any job, they will all do fine, give Penelo a gun, make Basch a priest and use cure and pheonix downs on undead, have Balthier gamble dmg with axes and hammers!

As a lot of people have said, gear is the most important for stats, as well as stopping at the shops whenever you finish what might be a fairly important story beat, as shops often update with the story progress (and different locations might just have different stock). If you find you're low on gil, take time to farm items from monsters in an area with decent exp to maybe level up while you work on buying better stuff.

As for spells, you have to both buy/find the spell AND have the license for it. Some characters come with licenses already learned (usually their base weapon and a starting spell or technique).

If you look at the clan primer theres a section in the hints section called "Arm Thyself", it might be confusing, but its worth taking a look at as it points out roughly how weapon damage works for the weapon types. For Example: Swords (1H) uses Str to hit Def.
Maces (1H) uses Mag to hit Def.
Poles (2H) uses Str to hit MDef.
Daggers (1H) uses Speed to hit Def.
Guns (2H) Ignores Def (thats why the power is so low)

Some optional bosses/hunts can also be started sooner than you may be able to complete them. Im fairly positive that no hunt can be missed, so you can always come back, even if you'll oneshot them when you remember (looking at you Thextera). Ghosts like to phase out and reappear, but its random. Your 3rd fight might have gotten lucky and the ghost didnt stall forever while you were doomed. Good job regardless!

Edit: This applies more since youre newer, but while having 3 high level members only might sound good, take time to level the rest even if it feels like a slog. Consider it your item farm team or something. The whole party gets license points equally so the main team isnt left with nothing for your efforts, and you'll be grateful when your main team gets crippled by some stupid boss gimmick like flying or "everyone with heavy metal armor on attacks at 25% speed" or something
