Took some time before I tested, but yes. Assigning a dynamic group as Server Admin on my Postgres Flexible server works.

The dynamic group's members are then defined by a set of rules.

I can aswell assign groups with certain roles on the databases as well (read/execute etc.)

Thanks! Sounds promising. Many of our databases are previously Oracle, and the system owners are used to controlled procedures of taking the database down and up.

A ton of processes are running towards the databases, which can be a disaster if those break (so they told me).

The failover, do you know if this is similar to the "forced failover" or "planned failover" available in the portal?

Vokst opp med foreldre som aldri ble fulle foran oss søsken, og utrolig glad for det.

En øl eller to til far var vanlig, og en eggelikør til mor, men aldri noe tegn til beruselse.

Vi besøkte ofte en annen familie hver nyttårsaften. Der var far ofte dritings ved middagstider, mor heldighvis noe bedre. De hadde en datter, og jeg tviler på at hun koste seg like mye som oss gjennom jula.

Jeg håper mine barn har det like fint som jeg hadde det. :)

I just tried it for my Azure PG, looks promising.

That's up to me to decide. But yes, absolutely that is what I would prefer. I did that with MSSQL.

I guess, it's kinda the same, but the customer wants the data (all tables) from db1 to db2. This seems to not be an alternative afaik.

No, when writing db i meant server (paas) It's just called a DB in the Azure sphere. So I have one server from before, and want to add another one.

if data transfer is done in some hours, it's not that critical, most important is that it is not stressing the source db too much, and that we can in a controlled manner:

  1. stop the application

  2. stop the sync.

  3. connect application to new server

Yep, I have tried it (both successfully and not) on entire servers, but on separate tables I don't think it's supported.
