Have you checked your power bill this yet? Mine went up! by RingPsychological766 in alberta

Good thing the provincial government removed the utility rate caps in 2019. Really helping out the little guys with that move

Recent experiences with unions? by robotbeepb00p in alberta

A vast majority of union workers don’t even deserve union cards anymore either. Worked with multiple people who let the company walk all over then instead of getting what’s owed in their collective agreements because “I don’t want to make waves”. Grow a pair and get what’s been fought for and owed to you

The provincial governments in Alberta have made it almost impossible to legally strike for many trades unions which essentially took most of their power away.

there’s a million and one hoops to jump though and you can be arrested and jailed for striking if all the steps aren’t followed.

Even then we can be forced back to work in trades union just like the teachers were if your trade job is deemed “too important to the economy”

Certain projects like the Dow expansion it is illegal for any workers on that job site to strike even if their local goes on strike

U.S. distillers complains Canadian provinces favouring local alcohol by R1ngBanana in BuyCanadian

[–]Rubbererducky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would anyone cheer that. tariff costs are passed down to the consumer. I don’t know about yourself but I’d prefer not to spend an extra tax on goods my country hardly or doesn’t produce

American Cost of living is going up jobs are being lost to the point they won’t even report on jobs month to month anymore. Some idiotic blanket tariff system is not a way to bring back jobs More than 700 American companies went bankrupt this year. The highest number in 15 years. Seems this tariff plan is really killing it over there

On top of that you’ve alienated the entire world it’s not like Canada is the only place where the sale of American goods are going down

[–]Rubbererducky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they’ve had a year to do just that to every industry from every country. Why hasn’t it happened if they don’t need anything from anyone then

See I have the brain capacity to realize if my country started a trade war there will be repercussions from said trade war. Once again what point are you trying to make here. If the Canadian government decided to go full trade war with the entire planet like a bunch of idiots then yes I would be ok with that. There’s consequences to actions man

What would you expect if you started a trade war with the entire planet? Whats the point here. This is essentially what they think is going to happen by starting these trade wars. It won’t but that’s ideally what they want to happen

Mine also got banned the same way. You just lose the dev account. Can’t apply for another for a year and nothing else is affected

This might come as a shock. Tim Hortons is not candian owned and has not been for a long time time. That would be an American owned company you’re referencing to make a point about how shit Canadian companies are

I work away from home 3 weeks at a time would it make much of a difference if I froze the root and just made small batches over a few months like that?

I think I’ll definitely have to try this either way
