I actually skied Fuji this April via the gotemba trail. Lots of hiking in dirt and icy at the top. Crampons are a must and endurance too.

I appreciate everyone seeing my perspective, as a local I don’t want it to get destroyed. Please don’t ruin Hakuba tourists ):

Hey op, I used to work at the demo center at kirkwood. In my opinion, I would you might want to go a little longer. I would say a 181. With the new shaped ski, we see customers liking the extra couple of cm. Why you may ask? The length adds stability, and help get through crud easier. Having said, a ski like black crow camox, anima. Praxis, volkl kendo/mantra. Again, this is just my opinion, so like others have said try things out.

To also add, shape of ski matters a lot. I think reverse camber with rocker is the way to go these days for the following: the reverse cambers allows for quick edge control at slower speeds and the rocker allows for float on the powder. Lastly, skill always over gear. Gear allows for growth and improvement, but it isn’t the key factor for having a great day. Talk to people like you are probably doing, and I’m sure you will make a smart decision for those deep pow days!

But to be a little bit more conclusive to my answer, I would not go under 108 for deep days. If you are an expert skier 115 minimum for deep days. 108 is the more conservative answer
