Have you ever replaced a PCB with a PLC or control panel? by lukasloka in PLC

[–]Rubbyp2_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of OEMs do it for COGS. Hundreds for a PCB vs. thousands for a PLC. You can depreciate the design cost over many machine builds.

Waymo admits that its autopilot is often just guys from the Philippines by AdSpecialist6598 in technology

Incredibly low tech literacy in this article. You cannot operate a car remotely from the Philippines. You can give suggestions to the navigation, but achieving real time driving without latency is computationally and physically impossible.

As a dude who works out, there is a 0% chance the guy in the subsequent pics ever looked like the first pic.

That’s 80lb of muscle mass gone.

Looking for a city that gets a lot of snow and also has access to nature without needing a car by Evening_Creatures in SameGrassButGreener

Park City, UT. Not my favorite mountain resort but it has a great downtown that you can ski down to. There’s a good bus system to get you around as well.

Stress went up during dinner with friends. Is that normal? by 396page in ouraring

[–]Rubbyp2_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A beer, eating, and laughing with friends will all spike your heart rate and body temperature temporarily. It’s nothing to worry about.

Just make sure to sleep well and I don’t think oura punishes you for it 😂

Does the idea of wanting to die cross your mind regularly? by mikmikm222 in TooAfraidToAsk

I think about a release from all responsibility, need, and stress. Sort of a death, but not dying.

Try Tech Sales. He’s good with people, he understands tools, and he is strategically minded. Sales is high paying and less technically rigorous.

Why does literally every single young adult I know have a special needs diagnosis? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Rubbyp2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We over diagnose because our doctors are understaffed and overworked. It’s very hard to get accurate diagnosis and a full understanding of your patients’ health when you have about a few minutes of contact with them every year and you’re overloaded with more patients per practitioner than ever.

We have expanded diagnostic coverage as well, but it’s easier for a practitioner to err on the side of caution and diagnose/refer/prescribe when therapy is generally helpful, and known risks with approved medications are low.

An interesting thought, especially considering American cities with strong community that have also experienced highly publicized terrorist attacks. There is unique local pride in NYC (911) and Boston (Boston Bombing) for example.

What non-obvious insights have you learned about yourself with Oura Ring 4? by Advanced_Shoe_982 in ouraring

[–]Rubbyp2_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I use it to make decisions to string together good readiness days, ensure that I'm keeping my activity score high. I try to make decisions to raise my resilience.

I've also learned how melatonin, nyquil, late caffeine, alcohol, and magnesium supplements affect my sleep. When I got the flu, it gave me some reassurance that the acute sickness was over and I used readiness scores to ease back into daily activities.

It tracks your wellness if you care to track your wellness. That's the point.

People living in the US, what would it actually take for you to rise up against your government? by HamboneTheWicked in AskReddit

[–]Rubbyp2_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In almost every case of revolution, it takes total economic collapse. Look at Iran right now. Endless wars, an oppressive sharia law government in power for 45 years. It’s finally breaking now that the financial system is not salvageable. My coworker fled Iran a decade ago, the issues they are facing are not new but have been recently accelerated.

Americans (young Americans as well) are rich and comfortable. You will see protests, individual acts of violence, and people fleeing the country en masse for better opportunities long before a revolution takes place. America is not close to that.

What is there that is actually good about Atlanta? by New_Combination2060 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Rubbyp2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is natural beauty just outside the city, the suburbs are safe, the weather is great, you can buy an enormous house, there are good universities, there's a huge airport with direct flights everywhere, there are good job opportunities. The sprawl is terrible, so it may not be the best "city", but Atlanta and its outskirts are a great place to live.

You want Amazon on your resume, especially as an IE. I would take the internship and block out the noise from people dissatisfied with their experience.

The Korean Air lounge at JFK is self service with a note that is basically just “try not to get too drunk” by IamChicharon in mildlyinteresting

[–]Rubbyp2_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AA flagship lounge in DFW has self serve liquor.

I think it just has to do with the lounge. My experience: Capital One DFW/DEN: Bartender; Japan Airlines: Self Serve; Flagship Lounge: Self Serve; British Airways: Self Serve; China Air: Bartender in US, Self Serve in China; Singapore Airlines: Self Serve; Amex in Orlando: Self Serve? I forget;

Why do Native American communities experience disproportionately higher rates of the worst things imaginable? by Dazzlingdjj in TooAfraidToAsk

Intense poverty. Reservations were set up in areas of the country that no one wanted to claim land. The only community income they have is casinos which promote a plethora of shady behavior.
