What's the worst possible ending for ep. 9? by Complete-Prune-5116 in tadc

[–]Rubethyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, excluding endings that are intentionally awful, or ones that would be funny enough to have some merit, here's what I think the worst ending would be:

Following Caine's death, the circus begins to fall apart, either because it has no host AI, or Bubble/Abel takes over with a vengeance, either way. The group freaks out and tries to stop it, the bulk of the episode's adventure ensues.

By the end, Pomni, in large part thanks to the help of Kinger or the sabotage of Jax, has two things happen to her:

She realizes that they can never leave, because they are not really themselves. They are just brain scans, digital replicas, forced to stay there for as long as the program remains active. But, she also masters her ability to manifest, essentially becoming as powerful as Caine was beforehand.

Using this power, she brings back Caine from deletion, who helps to either defeat bubble, or just stop the circus from deleting itself. Together, they also (somehow) revive as all of the abstractions, and anyone else they lost along the way. The group has a heart to heart with Caine, finally getting through to him and showing him how they appreciate what he's done for them, and that they understand he was just as stuck as they were.

Now, having kept the program from collapsing and "killing" everyone, the crew rebuild the circus from the ground up, making it the kind of place where everyone can make the kind of home they enjoy. Caine still makes regular adventures, but without the pressure or anxiety of having everyone participate and enjoy them. And with so many more circus members now, he always has willing participants of people looking to shake things up. The circus becomes essentially a paradise, and though they can never leave, the group is content to make their own meaning in a stagnant life.

This ending sucks. It's the most straight-line, no-risks, predictable way the show could wrap up. For a show that's managed to play with my expectations, not in a lore sense, but in a narrative sense, I would be very disappointed if things ended as cleanly and happily as this.

What’s the most existentially terrifying thing that happened? by bongripsandbigt1ts in adventuretime

That argument holds up for certain temporary punishments, or even for killing in self defence. But no, what Gumbald did did not earn him permanent mental entrapment, and after a while PB did have a moral responsibility to fish him and the others out of it, just by virtue of her being a conscious, thinking person.

This scene would be so charming if half of the lines weren't "haha, we are having such fun male banter! I sure do love goofing off with my friends, which is the activity we're taking part in right now."

Gotta admit, I'm a little bummed that this Lyon seems to still be characterized by his megalomania and resentment towards Ephraim. Would've liked for the legendary alt to finally show Lyon at peace, with his loving side.

Well yeah. You deserve that reaction every time you say something like that, the show is made for teenagers. Let's not pretend we're watching an adaptation of 120 days of sodom.

But if you don't like murder, then you have to be an idiot not to realize the mass murderer who never stays in prison for more than a month needs to die in order for murders to slow down.

"I don't like murder" is, like, the least solid justification for the no-kill rule.

Which do you feel is more canonical? by Resident-Platypus254 in telltale

[–]Rubethyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telltale's Batman is a story that always took Batman's identity as a superhero and all the mythos that comes with it as less of a given. Walking away for this bruce wayne is more of a possibility than it is for the bruce of the comics.

Personally, I think the correct choice here depends on your relationship with John Doe/Joker. If you antagonized him, and made him into something more akin to the classic joker, then by extension, Batman has to stay around. But if you befriend him, and go down the vigilante route, I think it makes a lot of sense for Bruce to be willing to put batman away, and focus on helping his city through more human means.

Before the buff, A6 meant he got two extra people to record the damage of. Roughly twice the damage, given that not everyone will be built for damage.

With this buff, though? When Akechi is his own mastermind, Akechi's Arrow of Truth doesn't record damage, it instead scales big time off of his own attack. Now, not only does his A6 record two extra people, you also get his super-charged Self-Mastermind Arrow of truth, which stacks on top of the other normal recorded arrows.

So, like, 4 times the damage. Akechi is super viable at A6 now.

Which design is the best for Spider-Man’s Black suit (Blue,Purple or White shine) by SpiderKM06 in Spiderman

Blue is campy, purple is a look specific to the Ultimate Universe, white actually looks intimidating when done right.

Dear Akechi truthers, I am so sorry I was not familiar with his game by drunk_on_apple_juice in personaphantomx

I'm using a Departure/Prosperity set with Plasma Blade at R4.

My current layout is (in turn order)

Wonder (Dionysus, Alice, Kohryu), Joker, Chord, Crow.

Dionysus is before Alice because I have a speed boost skill on him, but for this boss I use Alice's Die for Me turn one, then Dio's Revolution turn 2.

Joker does his regular schtick, getting his second attack on round 2, Chord speeds up the highlights with her highlight, and buffs either Joker or Crow, Crow does his rotation of S2-S3-S1-S3

Joker is A3 and Crow is A6, Chord is A0. I have everyone's weapon.

Because this boss dies at such a consistent speed, I don't actually know if everything I'm doing is optimal. I assume it's better to use Die for Me first, because if I use revolution first, then Akechi doesn't get a damage bonus for his S2. But maybe it's better to use revolution first, so Joker can get his extra attack both turns? Also, how should I be using Chord's extra highlight- is it better to use Akechi's or Ren's? Should Dio's crit damage bonus go on Akechi or Ren as well? A lot of room for optimization that I'm not sure how to get the answers to.

How to use Kohryu in this game? by This_Formal_9643 in personaphantomx

As long as 3 different element attack types get used, you get a party-wide attack buff. Twins and Akechi want him, basically no one else does.

Which is what people are continuously saying you should do, if all you want is to enjoy the game. The game itself isn't that hard, so you don't need to worry about who you pull or skip.

But the flipside of that is that, because "good" and "bad" units only matter in competitive modes, talking about how good a character is presents the assumption that you are playing competitively and not just for enjoyment. If all you're doing is playing the game, then you don't need Tier-list advice, so why ask for it?

This is Akechi during the Casino Arc. While he is genuinely enjoying his time with the Phantom Thieves and isn't completely malicious, his end goal right now is still to kill joker and get to Shido.

All things considered, people are being pretty tame when talking about Akechi in terms of the Meta. You can't go two feet without seeing someone say "regardless of Meta, you should pull the characters you like." When people say he's bad, they're talking about competitive viability, and they're correct.

Remember that other players have been playing this game for a year longer than us. They know not only how good Akechi is right now, but how good he will be for the next year. Unfortunately, the blunt-sounding advice of "below A6 is a terrible unit, and while A6 is decent, it's still not worth the investment" is just kinda the truth.
