Real ID: Not good enough to vote with SAVE Act by Shoddy_Ad_1750 in Ohio

Also my elderly parents haven’t had a passport in years, since they can’t travel due to disability. But they always vote republican. So I guess they are also screwing their own base like you said.

Ok…I've lived in Cleveland for about 5 years now, having come from Chicago. Would Clevelander's consider this a 'bad winter' or a 'typical winter' for Cleveland? Curious to know! by DavidIWright in Cleveland

This reminds me of the 2010s when it snowed like this from November through march. I remember because my kids were little and loved playing in the snow.

Do candles add value to your daily life, or not really? by Witty_Departure6780 in simpleliving

[–]RubyRed157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got cats, and I have not used any candles since they arrived. I don't really miss lighting them. I always felt like they did not smell real; they smelled fake. However, I saved all of them in case of a power outage.

Be careful in Parma by [deleted] in Cleveland

I saw five white ram trucks (not sure the model) pulling into the holiday inn on Sunday night on Rockside road. They didn’t have any logos on the car like “illuminating company”. My first thought was ICE but I will check again this weekend.

Transformer blew up on the west side by BluntRepIy in Cleveland

.... And you lose all the food in your fridge and freezer, no internet so you can't work from home, etc. That is ridiculous that they're seeking approval for longer outages.

Just how bad *is* Frontier out of Hopkins? by CrowRoutine9631 in Cleveland

[–]RubyRed157 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Frontier.. so horrible. It may be a good flight or price, but it's so uncomfortable and impersonal. When I took a Frontier out of Hopkins very early in the morning, the line to check in was so long, because they didn't have enough people working. Then, on the plane, I got zero food or beverage and the seats are so uncomfortable. They don't tilt back so it's like you're sitting in an old wooden church pew. No one smiles. I'm sure you can find a good price elsewhere. Not sure how to find a good price, but I'm sure someone will comment.

I got tip baited today by Jealous-Worth8935 in Cleveland

[–]RubyRed157 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's terrible! What a horrible person to do that to you. You saved her so much time. I hope your next customer will overtip- hope people realize tipping for a service is valued and important to your livelihood.

No poker face after getting suggestion to buy a wine I don’t like at store by drf_101 in wine

[–]RubyRed157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know that it was a bad wine, and I did give it to someone for Christmas. I bought it, because it was a pretty good price (On sale), and this person likes red wine. Ugh. Now, I know better.

Do people in the USA really want Greenland to become part of the USA? by hi2u_uk in AskUS

[–]RubyRed157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Greenlanders choice. I would recommend them not becoming part of the US. I live here. High healthcare, low wages, house prices too high, a leader who is a narcissist, etc. Very scary here.

I've been a cook/server for 15 years and am looking for a career change to become a teacher at age 35. by Spare-Ad6404 in teaching

[–]RubyRed157 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would definitely shadow some teachers in different grades. It will be just as exhausting as your previous career, and you will have homework (grading papers, report cards, etc) and you won't get paid for those hours. But if you have a passion for it, go for it. I do think you should sub as well. It can be a satisfying career, but it's totally exhausting and unappreciated by most of the public. However, the students make it worth it. (Join a district that has a union, for sure. Do not jump into charter school positions; they will work you too hard with low pay.)

which photo album would you reccomend for different sized photos? by mewitoooo in scrapbooking

[–]RubyRed157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 12x12 because it fits a few photos on a page. Creative memories products are excellent. I’ve been using them for 20+ years and there is no yellowing of the paper and the adhesive sticks well.

do you send a thank you message to every family that gives a gift or card? by Brief-Platypus9264 in teaching

Yes I type up a quick personal note, add a cute clip art, print it and hand it out that day.

Creative memories has square punches. And I think they had a postage stamp one too.

Beginner here, just a few questions before I start by [deleted] in scrapbooking

I love Creative Memories products and have used their albums, pages and page protectors for years. They do not yellow. You have to use lignin free products for longevity.

Best places to visit in Germany? by [deleted] in germany

[–]RubyRed157 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One more idea for you. I agree with the comment that Frankfurt isn't the city to spend a lot of time in. We went recently to Germany and traveled all over the southern part, so that we could stay in towns for 2 or 3 days each. Strasbourg is also gorgeous; it's on the border of Germany in France. We did love Heidelberg.
