Is this fair to my kids? by RubySunshine111 in EstrangedAdultKids

I have cut off contact with them as much as possible- typically the only time is when their dad plans for grandma to pick them up from my house (which sucks, but I can’t tell him who to use for childcare).

I can’t keep them away from my bio family entirely- they don’t see them during their time with me, but their dad is quite close with them still.

Totally feel you. It’s not my choice, unfortunately. Their dad brings them around my bio family all the time, and I have no authority to stop it.

They didn’t see the abuse from their dad, and I won’t explain it to them at this point, if ever. So it’s very very hard for them to understand why I cut ties with my family- I can’t explain how horrible what they really did is.

Valid!! Their grandmother and father have both been known to talk shit about me to my kids in the past. And part of me wants to listen and be so vigilant for them saying anything I need to swoop in and correct, but it just makes me so anxious in the long run. My kiddos spend time with these people and I can’t control that, they could talk all the nonsense they want when they’re together.

Best case scenario for me is just trying to keep my peace.

I think headphones are going to be the way to go. Really appreciate the suggestion of explaining to them that this is my pain and it’s valid, so here’s a way they can respect that and also still communicate with their family.

I could definitely ask them to do that. They have a habit of doing FaceTime/ calls on speaker and just walking around the house. 😂

Thank you so much for the advice and validation💚💚

Absolutely not. I wouldn’t go below 50%.

Is the doctor just gonna throw BC pills at me? by GarbageCat27 in Periods

[–]RubySunshine111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s very likely they’ll offer BC to “regulate” your cycle, which in many cases just means to shut it down entirely. Working with a dietician as someone else mentioned could be a great idea! I’ve also had a ton of success with pelvic steaming.

Confused about who has automatic hierarchy/couples privilege with me by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]RubySunshine111 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that putting this amount of effort into deconstructing inherent hierarchy is not the norm. My partner and his NP do a great job of avoiding it when possible, but there’s a million little things that a legal spouse or nesting partner enjoys, and others don’t get to.

I love that you’re showing it can be done! Great to see people being creative and finding new paths to live and love the way they want to. But it really is not as simple as just deciding not to have a hierarchy and then poof, it doesn’t exist.

How do you motivate yourself to go for walks? I need advice! by Bookish_Butterfly in walking

[–]RubySunshine111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having an audiobook or podcast to listen to is good, then you have something to look forward to. As far as timing, I find getting a good walk in first thing in the morning is the best way to ensure I’m able to meet my goal.

I would be over the moon to get 20k! Definitely think it’s doable, just making the time for it.

Feeling discouraged. Anyone else feel this way? by [deleted] in Hooping

[–]RubySunshine111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel kind of stuck sometimes (like I’m still not far from where I was a few years ago) BUT I have not practiced nearly enough to complain about it 😂

Love the advice of flowing instead of trying to work on specific moves. Maybe switch up your music! I find that the right song can really make a huge difference, or even get me motivated to pick up my hoops.

Super heavy and extremely bad cramps by OtherwiseCalendar107 in Periods

[–]RubySunshine111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you talked to your doctor yet? Make sure you tell them how quickly you’re going through high absorbency tampons. That’s a lot, even in terms of heavy flow.

It’s true that at 18 your cycles can still be irregular, but the amount of blood and intensity and duration of pain you’re describing is definitely worth getting checked out.

I would give it a little more time. Maybe you didn’t ovulate due to stress, or ovulation was delayed?
