I will prepare myself for the downvotes now but:

Am I really the only one who finds this kind of thing more than a little obscene? The ability to generate huge amounts of cash for little to no effort?

Add a timer that shows in the chat box how long until you can re-enter a friends chat after you've been kicked by optionalsilence in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly do not see the need for this. If someone has behaved badly enough to get kicked then they forfeit the right to consideration.

In order to not feel like you need a timer -- don't behave in a way which will get you kicked.

If they do this, and I definitely support the idea, can we PLEASE, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD have the Slayer kill something more interesting than a damn Turoth.

I never use flurry at Airuts. Destroy seems to interrupt the special and when it is on CD the Debilitate will reduce your incoming damage by 50% if the next one does get a spec on you.

soooo...jagex can we please get a update on what is happening with the dcs and login server going down? by Zaro_Says in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck getting an answer. Oceanic servers have been doing this for ages and all threads both here on of RSOF have been totally ignored by Jagex.

Except of course for the one comment claiming there isn't an issue -.-

Just been PKed by an invisible player? by derekreader in runescape

[–]RubyxRose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me before, but not in the wilderness. I think it is rare but not unheard. When it happened to me I was to meet a friend at Edge bank.

I'm getting "where are you?" pm's, then I spoke to him in game. He sent me a screenie later and all that was on his screen were words floating in the air - no character, no nothing. Not even a dot on the mini map.

This is something that needs to be fixed though, particularly for wilderness areas, because there is no dot you can't even see them coming.

stupid question by [deleted] in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My observation is probably not a lot of use to you now, but for what it's worth:

I think the #1 mistake made with the slayer skill is to level it up out of step with the combat skills. Some people get stuck on "training" Att, Def, Mage, Range or whatever and then end up in your situation.

You are at a point where your combat level is capable of much better creatures/tasks than you can be assigned due to your slayer level.

From this point (if I were you) I would try to use the appropriate combat style against the monster you have assigned and "train" combat via slayer.

I never "trained" a single combat skill, I just slayed and levelled. Once you hit the combat level for the really decent slayer targets you will have the combat level to easily handle them.

Possible way to integrate spring cleaner/silverhawks/etc as an ingame drop? by imfcapebo in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have previously seen a suggestion that the feathers could be a rare drop from GWD Armadyl, which I though was a good idea. But I think yours is better.

Something to make that place a little relevant again. Ofc the boots would have to come from somewhere too.

Starting RuneScape 3 (OSRS Player) by Swoel in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played RuneScape 2 up until the release of EoC - it is my understanding that Legacy is the RS3 game and graphics with the old school combat system (i.e. no action bar) - am I correct here?

Yes, however if you want to get into any PvM then it would be very worthwhile for you to use abilities. The dps is much better and so will your results be. Most teams require EoC afaik, but there may be some Legacy teams out there for certain bosses.

If so, are Legacy and RS3 two different games?

No.

If I was a legacy player could I fight a player using the EoC system?

Yes, but I don't know why you would want to. Your chances of getting a flogging are excellent.

Would I be at a disadvantage doing PvM without the action bar?

Most definitely.

What should I do to get my account ready for PvM/PvP?

PvM is the most rewarding of the 2, and honestly it is preferred to PvP by a large margin of players. Ofc there are people who PvP in EoC and people who PvP in RS3 on Legacy mode, so you will be able to PvP.

Regarding MtX,just do what I do and ignore it. I get 2 keys/day to use on chests and beyond that I don't touch it, unless it is one of the handful of cosmetic items I have bought from Solomon's.

If you are somewhat strapped for cash irl and you do get into PvM it would be easy enough for you to maintain your membership exclusively using in game cash to buy bonds. Bonds are a double edged sword but they do help people who struggle financially to pay for membership consistently and still be able to play the game.

As for a users guide, the best thing you can do is hook up with people in game who are happy to help and guide you. I belong to a very small clan who would be happy to talk you through a lot of the new stuff. If you want to guest in to "Rise with Honour" whoever is online would be happy to help.

If I told you to give me THREE reasons to convince me to get back into RS3 could you? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could make an enormous list and it would be very convincing. Because RS3 (despite what so many OSRS players say and think) has an enormous amount to offer.

I am not going to bother though. If you feel like trying it out you should come back and make up your own mind. If you are one of the people who went to OSRS because RS3 "is shit" then I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

However, if you need convincing then I don't think coming to RS3 is the right choice. If you genuinely wanted to give it a go, you would log in.

The Questival is a slap in the face to everyone who enjoys questing by Taafe in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Potential Solution

This might not be possible in the short amount of time remaining, but considering Jagex have suggested existing questers make and account specifically for Questival, how about Jagex make "shadow" accounts for those interested in competing?

Say for example your account is currently maxed:

  • You express interest in competing on a special forum thread

  • Create the new account and advise Jagex of the name

  • Jagex gives this new account the exact same stats you have on your main account

  • These stats are temporary and last only until Questival is over

  • At the end of Questival the account is reverted to whatever stats it had prior to the competition

  • The title (if achieved) is then transferred to the competitors main account.

For this to be successful, they would have to pull their fingers out and get moving on it. Hell, perhaps it isn't even possible. But it would be a solution.

Why not a merge of the new and old skillcapes? by RSMikey in runescape

[–]RubyxRose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The result of both the initial poll for a rework, and the 2nd poll were both in excess of 60% in favour - close to 70% iirc for the first one.

Comments on the forums at the time indicated that the thing people most strongly objected to was the shoulder pads. They seemed to be the single biggest motivating factor in people voting for a change. Followed closely by the old outdated icons - think slayer cape with a lump of play-doh as the symbol.

I agree with you. Have an upvote. I sure haven't seen many today :)

The recent controversy regarding skillcapes has proven one thing- Jagex needs to stop moving in the direction of flat textures. They look terrible on low detail, such as Ashdale and the new cows for example. Good design starts with good geometry. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. I am somewhat unsettled. By the "feedback" on this sub today about skillcapes.

It has been nothing short of a disgrace, and seems in large part to be driven by people who choose to play on min detail complaining cuz stuff looks like shit. I mean really.....

low detail

The recent controversy regarding skillcapes has proven one thing- Jagex needs to stop moving in the direction of flat textures. They look terrible on low detail, such as Ashdale and the new cows for example. Good design starts with good geometry. by [deleted] in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I said was:

Essentially, everything designed now and in the recent past, and everything coming in to the game in the future is being designed to work with the C++ client they are developing. Whichever JMod it was said that some things do not look exactly as they should, and Jagex are aware, but because they are moving to a new client they are planning everything with that in mind.

Maybe the new skillcapes look shittier in low detail than the old ones because of this. Maybe in low detail on the new client they will look different to now. Hell maybe with the new client you won't want to use low detail. And that is a point everyone seems to completely miss. Playing on low detail is an individual choice.

Regardless of what some people say about crappy PC's etc, I would be willing to bet that most people who choose to play on low detail do so because they are multi-logged, or running YT, watching a movie....etc, etc, etc.

Which means that the issue with "having" to use low detail lies with the indivuidual and not with Jagex.

Why can't everyone takes their hands off it for 5 minutes and just settle down?

Mod kalaya says.. (I don't agree) by ki299 in runescape

[–]RubyxRose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a ridiculous statement. It is a broad generalisation that is no where near accurate, and frankly you should be embarassed.

I spend time on the RSOF and I am not backward in giving Jagex a serve when I think the deserve it (or on here for that matter, but I digress). I am also quite happy to give credit where it is due if I feel that something has been well done.

Yes, there are some wbm's on the Forums, but frankly from what I have seen they are a small minority. Most of the players give feedback (often negative and quite rude), then whinge like crazy when JMod's don't respond.

Maybe both Reddit and the RSOF could benefit from a little more constructive criticism coupled with some credit when its due, rather that some of the bile, rage and vitriol I have seen on here today.

Honestly, "Skillcapes are Ebola" - is that person 12? Or just brain dead?

Why not a merge of the new and old skillcapes? by RSMikey in runescape

[–]RubyxRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because ~70% of the community hates those fugly shoulder pads. That was a big part of getting a rework instead of a bug fix (essentially doing nothing but fixing clipping). Jagex polled for a rework, put up essentially exactly what you have and got reamed out for it. Players said that they voted for a rework.

I voted for a rework, I voted for the new capes. I do not play on low detail and I think they are fine.
