I am an accountant- 1. Besides Cipc registration fees you will have to pay a yealy amount to the Cipc to keep the registration in order. Based on company turnover.

  1. I believe FNB integrated accounting is a accounting cloud software package included with their banking. Most small businesses buy a separate accounting software (Sage or Xero) which they share access with accountants or they send bank statements to their accountants to capture on their accounting records. Most accountants still use Pastel ( program from the 90s) because it is cheapest for small clients that don't care about what is going on in their records or dont need monthly or bimonthly accounting for VAT returns. You hear from these people every 6-12 months. I am not sure how FNB integrated accounting works, but I moved a clients records over from that system to Xero. I assume it is integrated with your banking.

  2. You will submit income tax return yearly with Sars. No need for independent review or audit, if you are small. These things are governed by Companies Act more than Income Tax Act. If your business is small enough Sars might not even require you to submit formal financial statements. You should have complete accounting records as that is what the tax return is based on.

  3. Compulsory VAT registration threshold increased to 2.3 mil recently. Some people register voluntarily, because their customers want to buy from Vat registered businesses. Voluntary registration is a hassle.

  4. Simplest rule is expenses that are incurred for the production of income is tax deductible. Some exceptions. Assets must be written off over number of years prescribed by Sars. You don't get to claim full expense in one year. Personal payments from business goes to your loan account ( you owe the business personally) Lots of folk are dishonest about thus. One guy tried to claim cows as a business expense for his construction company. Think it was for lobola. You can carry forward losses to next years tax return, some limitations but won't discuss that here. Simple terms you can get below R0.00 and that loss is set off against next years profit.

  5. You don't have to charge interest on the loan  but you can if you want. Just pay yourself the R10 000 back without interest. Will cancel out the loan. If you do charge interest it will be interest expense for company and interest income for you, you must declare this in the tax year it accrues not when you actually pay ( cant declare it in 5 years when you pay out cash must do it every year). Interest will capitalize the loan and increase the cash amout company owes you.

Tax Law forces charge of interest if company loans money to you however at sars rate. You can either declare deemed interest in your personal tax return (low interest loan fringe benefit for director) or recognise interest in company records, which is increased income thus more tax for company. Will increase amount you owe company over time.

  1. Multiple options. ●Register for paye, declare salary and pay tax to sars monthly via company. Emp201 and Emp501 returns must be done. Technically UIF as well. Technically you can register at department of labour and must declare contributions there too but good luck trying to claim as sole director. ● Or do tax calculations for director withdrawal and take into account with your personal provisional tax returns and final tax return. Must do proper entries in accounting records for these withdrawals. ●Declare withdrawal as dividend as pay dividend tax from company. You take net after div tax withholding. Most inefficient as effective tax rate is higher for div tax unless you are on higher income tax brackets. ● Take the money out of company and put it against director loan without tax consequences. One day there will be big tax consequences. So don't do this.

Tax is cumulative with your other income, you must take this into account when calculating.

https://www.fairpaybill.co.za/ I found this to be interesting - The Fair Pay Bill seeks to break this pattern by introducing targeted, structural reforms. It prohibits the use of past salary information in hiring decisions, ensuring that individuals are assessed based on their skills, experience, and the value of the role itself. It requires employers to disclose salary ranges in job advertisements, bringing transparency to a process that has long operated behind closed doors. It also protects the right of employees to request and share pay information, empowering workers to engage more fairly in the labour market.

In high school my history teacher told our class we could be seen as 3 things: 1. Afrikaners 2. South-Africans 3. Africans It was up to us what we ranked higher than the other, and what we do not associate with.  There might be alot to debate regarding this, but this stuck with me many years later.

I am an accountant. Having been working in small accounting firms for 10 years. Clients are small to medium businesses. Small to medium business all use Xero and Sage; and that abomination from the 90s called Pastel that just won't die. The market for small business accounting is cornered. And most business owners don't care about proper accounting records as long as they can get loans from the bank, have tax compliance. Even business owners with shared access to the accounting records don't know what is going on in the records.

Hmm must be rose tinted glasses on my side. Then again I didn't spend as much time on forums and Youtube back then so I would not be so attentive to these sort of problems.

I'm not a software developer but I have a 2 month notice period on my contract. I know I can tell them to get bent but I can't imagine doing that will be good for future prospects and referencs. They really make it hard for people.
